Anyway, I don't think she really means the Spirit can actually be controlled. It's just a misuse of words to mean if we manage ourselves in our own way - with the intent on managing Him and controlling Him because we don't want to obey Him - and that we listen to our own will instead of the leading of the Spirit, then we are quenching His leading in us and, after a while, will no longer be able to hear His voice. You all are being too critical. This is a textbook example of how exegesis is NOT to be done-EVER! This is how abysmal and shallow our theology has become. It's just pure LAZINESS. Sorry for the capitalization, but I'm stressing my frustration. People are being deceived by someone namely Beth Moore who is skilled in nothing more than persuasion and flimflam

My other disagreement and I could be very wrong since I don't know her mind, is Beth Moore possibly tacitly implying to convey that those trouble-making Christians who don't believe in extra-biblical voices outside of God's word[who stay within the confines of Scripture are somehow the ones who are holding him down? - "catch the Spirit & make stay Him put"? When believers put on the shield of faith, as part of their armor of God (Ephesians 6:16), they are extinguishing the power of the fiery darts from Satan. Christ described hell as a place where the fire would not be “quenched” (Mark 9:44, 46, 48). Likewise, the Holy Spirit is a fire dwelling in each believer. He wants to express Himself in our actions and attitudes. When believers do not allow the Spirit to be seen in our actions, when we do what we know is wrong, we suppress or quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19). We do not allow the Spirit to reveal Himself the way that He wants to.

A person filled with the Holy Spirit can quench it. But they can't control it. If you continue to quench, He will move on and you will be controlled by sin.

Bottom line: Given the bible illiteracy that prevails among the church today, Bible Teachers need to stop with the useless and non-sensical phrases and hashtags and explain what the word of God really says. The word of God is amazing, full of wisdom, awe inspiring and beautiful all on its own! Not to mention the grief it will save many from if they just knew what it really says.manuela227https://www.blogger.com/profile/14926171506496894270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-19069662584859781582016-04-08T23:38:52.283-04:002016-04-08T23:38:52.283-04:00That is such a stupid statement, I just cannot eve...That is such a stupid statement, I just cannot even.
Also, the arrogance of implying that He could be "managed".
