Whether you agree with it or not, the fact is, left to their godless ways, ALL societies ALWAYS decline into worse and worse sin. I noticed that in order to maintain your claim, you had to ignore and dismiss Romans 1, Judges, Matthew & 2 Timothy.

Jesus never taught that we cannot be a follower of his unless we sell all we have. You are completely wrong in this regard. The only benchmark for becoming a Christian is to repent and in faith call on Jesus as Lord.

You're thinking of Luke 18:22, when Jesus told the Rich Young Ruler to sell all he has. Here is a sermon which will teach you what Jesus was actually teaching in that verse.
http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/42-233/the-impossibility-of-salvation-part-2

If you are not in the mood for a sermon explaining the verses, here are two essays bout the selling all you have notion and the point Jesus was making-

http://www.gotquestions.org/rich-young-ruler.html
http://www.compellingtruth.org/rich-young-ruler.html

By the way, what church are you a member of? Maybe your pastor can help you with the more difficult verses and how sin works in society, and teach you a true understanding.Elizabeth Pratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04341086233512507156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-45537732475340381282014-09-19T01:46:56.513-04:002014-09-19T01:46:56.513-04:00Those 3 biblical references are about individuals...Those 3 biblical references are about individuals, not society. Yes homosexuality was illegal, but adultery has never been, and we have coped with the distinction between immoral and illegal. Many churches would also consider or act on remarriage of divorces, historically the church celebrated and blessed apartheid and slavery.

More importantly I can't find any article that upholds the teaching of Jesus that we cannot be a follower of his unless we sell all we have. Why do you not call upon selling all we have and hold all things in common as a church. It's what Jesus called for and how the Acts church acted.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-959664278906858572014-09-18T20:00:07.819-04:002014-09-18T20:00:07.819-04:00Anonymous, no one is suggesting that previous ages...Anonymous, no one is suggesting that previous ages had "no sin decades ago." We are saying, society IS getting worse. This is a biblical concept.

2 Tim 3:13
Matthew 24:12
2 Tim 2:16

As people refuse to repent, sins pile up. Society gets worse. Look at the cycle of the book of Judges for proof.

In addition, Romans 1:18-32 illustrates God's wrath against society's increasing sin and growing refusal to repent. The verses show the progression in a society when sin occurs, they refuse to repent, and how it deepens next and then what happens and the final steps.

According to the progression outlined in Romans 1, by the time lesbianism is accepted, a society is pretty far along on the route to wrath. (Rom 1:26)

I think what the commenter was saying, which I agree with, is that 50 or 60 years ago, homosexuality was taboo in American society. It was even outlawed. Within just one and a half generations, or, in one lifetime, not only is homosexuality not taboo nor against the law anymore, it is actually celebrated. It's even celebrated IN CHURCH. Ergo, things are worse.

As for there being no articles about the sins of abortion, adultery, riches, hunger...well now you're just being ridiculousElizabeth Pratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04341086233512507156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-66180802895057086682014-09-18T07:55:59.377-04:002014-09-18T07:55:59.377-04:00In this day and age? When was the golden age with ...In this day and age? When was the golden age with no sin? All the comments following this article hold the ridiculous and completely unbiblical view that we are getting worse as a society. Was there no sin decades ago? And in the modern conservative church it seems that the only sin is homosexuality, a sin that's easier to condemn if it isn't personal. What about abortion, divorce, adultery, hoarding of possessions, destruction of the planet, banks that charge excessively high interest, not visiting the imprisoned, not feeding the hungry, are all these not sins, and do you find many or any articles on them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-2073864753619538182014-09-12T13:44:57.990-04:002014-09-12T13:44:57.990-04:00Elizabeth rocks.Elizabeth rocks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-81689083093850642382014-09-11T21:07:08.399-04:002014-09-11T21:07:08.399-04:00Sister Elizebeth; When I saw this the other day, i...Sister Elizebeth; When I saw this the other day, it saddens me but it showed me how vile as a Nation we have become; so many avenues of sin that is makes me sad and i do not know how to even pray for our nation anymore. I pray always for the lost but as a Nation we have turned our backs on the Lord God and that hurts.
