Are you saying don't be discerning? Because we're commanded to be discerning. (1 Thessalonians 5:21–22). If that is what you're saying, then you'd be going against scripture. Are advocating that people disobey scripture?

At his juncture I'd suggest this essay as helpful: http://www.gty.org/Blog/B140407

If you have been a Christian since you were 11 years old, and dismiss the credible and proper concerns with this movie, I'd warn you about having a lack of discernment. I'd ask you to please ask the Holy Spirit to teach you more discernment. (James 1:5).

Secondly, if you have been a Christian since you were 11 years old, you must know the Bible very well and can offer some scriptural support for the reason you're so emotionally shocked but not spiritually concerned. God...I am shocked and disappointed in this review. God says come as you are, he will meet you where you are in life, yes you have to repent, but the movie showed what can happen when we humble ourselves and pray. If the movie put in every aspect of what Elizabeth and her husband went through the movie would be several hours long. I loved the movie and praise God that it was made. I have heard of thousands being saved because of this movie. Why do Christians slam each other. We should be thankful that we have movies like this to watch instead of a lot of the garbage that is offered to us know. I've been a Christian since I was 11 years old and I leaned something from this movie. Don't watch it with critical eyes, but through the eyes of Jesus. Despite its apparent doctrinal deficits, I am uplifted and excited by the film because I have been able to go six times with different groups of friends and family who are either "drinking their coffee luke warm" or don't know Jesus at all. This film might not be for Christians who are seeped in scripture but our Lord seeks his lost sheep and this movie helped me in those critical conversations of both encouragement and facts about Him. I am one of the broken. At 46 years old I met our Lod just two years ago and He is a treasure to behold. I weep daily for those I love who do not know Him. This film was a beautiful facilitator of conversation. Praise Jesus. Our Lord is very good and he works for the good of all those who love Him.Californiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09237638441606661789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-45157801610538492882015-09-16T17:02:23.062-04:002015-09-16T17:02:23.062-04:00Why on earth do so many Christians pay attention t...Why on earth do so many Christians pay attention to this MSM crap? The issue ...Mary Brown and to whom it may concern,

The issue IS and ALWAYS has been TRUTH, the truth and not a deception! It is NOT Lordship salvation, Calvinism verses Armenians, Baptist verses Methodist, Pentecostals, Catholic etc. The issue once again is TRUTH! Truth can be known - and it will always be under attack even by well meaning people until Jesus Christ sets the final record straight one day soon.

Frankly and with heartfelt sincerity and Christian love, I just can not even begin to understand how one who says that they are a Christian whom reads the Bible would fail to see the reality that God choose His own. The Bible is replete both in O.T. & N.T. concerning the doctrine of election (side note: YES, I share the gospel with ALL in my area of influence and seek to do so daily!)!

Lordship salvation (?)

God’s Word is very clear on this and I hope that you Mary, and others too, will embrace these tough TRUTH’S.

Please read these few short passages taken from I John chapter 3 verses 4-10

4Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 7Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 9No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’sb seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. 10By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.

Two very good audio messages by John MacArthur:

The Christian's Incompatibility with Sin, Part 1
http://www.gty.org/MediaPlayer/sermons/62-25

The Christian's Incompatibility with Sin, Part 2
http://www.gty.org/MediaPlayer/sermons/62-26

In truth and Christian love,
Rick ;>/
Metro AtlantaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-20113827350033918752015-09-13T10:12:57.121-04:002015-09-13T10:12:57.121-04:00I agree with your analysis of the movie. Of COURSE he is rebuked for preaching the truth. So were Paul, John, Peter, Timothy, Polycarp, and so on. The truth is always opposed.

If a "Christian" movie is theologically off, we should not pay money to watch it so that its false teachers and writers are helped in their evil works. Nor should we watch it for free.

Philippians 4:8 and Romans 12:9 come into play here.

If the movie isn't making claims about Jesus and His Gospel and is a secular movie, then it's a matter of Christian liberty whether to watch it or not. But again, I am firm on the notion that if it purports to be a Christian movie, it should make an attempt to portray Jesus and His Gospel correctly. Or we don't participate. I've actually never seen a "Christian" movie that was doctrinally and theologically sound. They are really pure entertainment at best. Even if theologians wrote or reviewed all the scripts for movies prior to and during filming, there would be argument about their doctrinal errors afterward! You reference John MacArthur in your critique, and he is under rebuke by many Christians as being theologically off with Lordship Salvation and Calvinistic doctrinal errors.
