It was not pure but sensuous ecstasy mixed with the mystical and religious. The connection between sexual pleasure and spiritual ecstasy is common in mystical literature such as Teresa's. The eroticism is intense, for example, in Bernini's famous sculpture Ecstasy of Saint Teresa - based from her own writing.

As for the spousal relationship, every. Christian has a spousal realtionship with jesus, He is the groom, the body of the global church is the Bride. Vows of celibacy are not biblical as far as normal life goes. If one is not married, one remains celibate. Taking "a vow of celibacy" is not necessary, becuase it is biblically commanded to be the default state of unmarrieds, (1 Cor 7:8) while sexual activity is mandated for the marrieds. Their relationship with Jesus was spousal in a spiritual way and pure. They did not indulge in sexual feelings. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-73343991194777644352019-02-21T11:28:20.982-05:002019-02-21T11:28:20.982-05:00There are so many misconceptions here I don't ...There are so many misconceptions here I don't know where to start. (As in the main article too). I'm a Catholic who has read St Teresa of Avila. She did NOT have "sexual feelings". Her experience was spiritual and pure. Her language is intense because it was spiritually intense and it's hard to describe. The images show her in great consolation- if people only see impurity there, that is only in their eyes. Furthermore, these Saints and others that have a spousal relationship with Jesus do NOT have the same experiences you described in the new age. They dont feel some presence "making love to them". It is even repulsive to write this as its untrue. They may feel Jesus close but its not like that. If Jesus embraced you would you think that's wrong? That isnt "impure". Plus they do not have sexual feelings unless their nature mistakes spiritual consolation for something else, and in that case it would be unwanted and accidental. That can happen if a person isn't fully purified yet but not later.. do you see love and spiritual consolation and feeling Jesus near as impure? Its not though. Faith is not JUST intellectual though it involves reason. Let me explain to you what they are about: in the new age, there is a trend called the twin flame. It can manifest spiritually and then physically. Normally, a woman who started having paranormal manifestations because of demonization will start feeling "someone" is with her, someone whispers to her ear, and even she will feel someone in her dreams or even while relaxing is making love to her. Many women in the new age say they feel the "soul of their twin flame" that visits them and makes love to them.

The sexual feelings have to do with kundalini triggers in the body caused by the demon or fallen angel posing as a twin flame. These woman can have orgasms without any kind of stimulation just because of the kundalini triggers. That was exactly what Teresa de Avila experienced! I did some research to see the correlation of these women in the new age and witches with the sensual experiences of St. Teresa and bingo! they were the same. St. Teresa calls this "mystical marriage" and she thinks it is a marriage with Jesus (with sexual feelings and all) and in the occult they call it "hieros gamos". Women fall heads over hills in love with this spirit manifestation and it is hard for them to see this is some sort of vampiric activity where a familiar spirit is manipulating them and draining them of energy. Witches report all the time to have astral lovers.

Unfortunately, many women might be mistaking a familiar spirit with the spirit of Jesus... this is why they take literally this husband-wife relationship. Familiar spirits will pose as anything as long as they can deceive the victims, specially women as we are very romantic. If you see the sculptures of St. Teresa de Avila it is evident that in her "mystical" experiences she was like making love to something. Pretty scary stuff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-34430408054875160512016-12-25T12:15:02.574-05:002016-12-25T12:15:02.574-05:00You are right Tricia. None of us are perfect, but when I try to share things as a warning or food for thought, I'm usually met with a why are you pointing this out attitude and you don't know all of the story so don't judge. It's to the point where no one is interested in talking about things and seeing if those things line up with the Bible or not. Very frustrating. I think it's important as well, but sadly many women proceed based on romantic feelings and not what the Bible says. It's a praise to the Lord that you had enough discernment to detect right away that Jesus Calling was bunk.

Women teaching other women is allowable. Titus 2:4 and also Lois and Eunice were commended for teaching young Mark so well. 2 Tim 1:5.

I wondered the same thing about Joanna Gaines. Since I wrote that essay exploring your very question, she has opened at least five new businesses and gone on a cross-country book tour. It's impossible to be a 'stay at home mom' with 'plenty of time for the kids' when she is living the high career executive-mogul track. What a sweet sentiment, I thought, but as soon as I investigated the book, I found myself at the bookstore trading in the book for a very attractive couple of Peter Rabbit coffee mugs.

Honestly I question the Biblical justification of women teaching doctrine, even to other women.

P.S. I just stumbled upon your blog by googling "how can chip and joanna be so successful and still have time for their kids?" :-)Janethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06503918543497231029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-8868533413856739112016-11-03T16:25:44.438-04:002016-11-03T16:25:44.438-04:00Thank you as always for a timely articleThank you as always for a timely articleMarsha Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11582373597212936896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-5827658072451885922016-11-03T13:48:26.839-04:002016-11-03T13:48:26.839-04:00I am so tired of all the fluff in the Christian wo...I am so tired of all the fluff in the Christian world.
