However, I highly recommend The Child's Story Bible by Catherine F. Vos. It was first published in 1935 and has over 200 engaging stories from the old/New Testament. It's great for ages 4-12 and is a faithful companion to the Bible. It is by far the best children's bible that I have found. I have wanted to get a children's Bible book to read to my granddaughter, even though she is only four months old, but the few I've looked at are awful. I just ordered a used copy of this one and can't wait to receive it!Ginnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04920963862516551109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-15213669863968884902016-07-02T23:07:16.910-04:002016-07-02T23:07:16.910-04:00You're welcome! You're welcome!Pamelanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-72594289154011286972016-07-02T23:06:45.860-04:002016-07-02T23:06:45.860-04:00Oh! You might like their style, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFjTb9Y8v9oAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-32917523868225221382016-07-02T23:02:50.176-04:002016-07-02T23:02:50.176-04:00I had emailed you way back when you did a post abo...I had emailed you way back when you did a post about the Rend Collective regarding a band called the citizens (Now officially "citizens and saints") - they were a band that was founded at Mars Hill Church (which, you know, is no longer a church). Kings Kaleidoscope was also a Mars Hill band (I'm sure you know that if you read about them), and since you're open to biblically sound music that originated in a not so sound place - I'd like to again recommend The Citizens to you! Their first album is my favorite - I much prefer the indie rock vibe over the techno-ish stuff, but both albums are good (I just have my fav - look up "Psalm 18 on youtube...it's amazing!). The lyrics are very grounded in rich doctrine and the beats are great, too.

(Mars Hill Music Sampler, which is where I think I heard of Citizens, has Kings Kaleidoscope singing "Come Thou Fount" and it's just amazing - you should check the song out if you haven't already!).

Also - Sovereign Grace Music is really, really good. And also very biblically sound. We have nearly all their albums (we're not part of a SG church - just appreciate the music), and I especially love "The Ology" which is technically for kids - but it's just too fun and good not to enjoy!

As far as your kids Bible recommend - have you read The Gospel Story Bible? Granted, the age range is higher than Sally's, but my family MUCH prefers it (6yo & 12yo). The JSBB adds a lot of goofiness to the stories. That's okay SOMETIMES (we watch veggietales occasionally, after all!), but I just thought I'd throw the other option out there. We are presently working our way through the go along New Testament devotional and it's *really* good. The Gospel Story Bible does what the Jesus Story Book Bible does - shows Jesus in all of the Scriptures, but in much more depth, and without goofiness. I've learned quite a bit myself from reading along with the kids - so it's not just for kids, either ;-)

I was never taught how all the OT stories were about Jesus. I knew the stories...but in a very disconnected way. I'm thankful for the new resources that help parents teach their kids better (and also teach newbies like me, too!)

BlessingsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-12022075815870885132016-07-02T18:15:24.962-04:002016-07-02T18:15:24.962-04:00SUPER DUPER! I find them a great resource for those trapped in the false spiritual warfare movement.
