He also has a lot of issues with his Christian philosophy as seen by his acceptance of Catholicism. It is wise for you to warn believers of false teachers, so knowing that Bono says things that aren't true, it's important to make sure that believers don't consider him a credible source of truth.

I also agree that God gave us senses and discernment and the Holy Spirit's leading to help us do what the world label's as "judging." And I believe that many Christians and non-Christians wrongly apply the verse that says, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." We are told over and over to make sure that we have our side taken care of before looking at the faults of others, but we're also commanded to point out the fault in others for the purpose of restoration. There's a difficult medium in applying these concepts in a way that we are not at fault, but you cannot lean to far either way on the subject. We don't have to be perfect (which is good cause we can't be in this life) but we have to judge ourselves before we can judge others in the same area.

Now, about whether Bono is a Born Again Believer or not, here's what the Bible says:
1. We are all sinners, completely hopeless on our own. We can't even do anything close to a good deed without God's enabling.
2. The only way we can be saved from out degenerate nature and our coming judgment is through the gift of grace that Christ bought for us through his death on the cross and resurrection. (Christ being God, not simply a good man)
3. Christ died for all, but only those who accept his gift through believing faith are justified before God.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-17747290245646604052014-12-09T16:12:53.016-05:002014-12-09T16:12:53.016-05:00By their fruits ye shall know them. (Mt 7:20)
I&#...By their fruits ye shall know them. (Mt 7:20)

I'm sorry you don't want to protect yourself or others against the false teachers nor accept the proof of their evil fruit, as Jesus instructed.

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Mt 7:15

I'm sorry you do not want to beware Jesus' specifically delivered warning to us about the false teachers.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world 1 John 4:1.

I'm sorry you do not want to follow the Apostle John's inspired words to test the spirits to determine if they are from God. In all these ways, you are disobeying Jesus. You think you are doing a tolerant and good thing by ignoring the false teachers and the false doctrines they bring. You allow a loaf to be leavened and spoil the whole lump. Actually, you will be reprimanded for your "tolerance" of sin against Jesus, because that's what false Christians do and it's what they are. In Rev 2:20 Jesus had harsh words for people like you, actually stating, "I have this against you, that you tolerate ... Jezebel..."

We're not talking about finding fault with others. We're talking about discernment of false doctrine that destroys. Yes we're all sinners. That has nothing to do with the current discussion.

We're talking about alerting the brethren to the false Christians that do not bring this same Gospel. It's NOT just fine to kick discernment to the curb, cross your hands over a Buddha belly, saying, we're all sinners, 'kumbaya'. Discernment is a GIFT from the Spirit, and the warnings of Jesus and the Apostles are a GIFT to the Christian. Don't squander them. You are to test, you are to know, you are to beware. Wake up and start obeying. May God's discernment be upon you.Elizabeth Pratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04341086233512507156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-48663360444998343472014-12-09T09:38:05.379-05:002014-12-09T09:38:05.379-05:00With the measure you use it will be used to you......With the measure you use it will be used to you... When I used to look to scripture to find something wrong with others, I could always find it, and then dismiss the person. Problem is if I did the same thing with myself I too would have had to dismiss myself. I think I'll let Jesus, who knows the heart (which can't be hidden behind words, or deeds done to bring oneself glory), make the choice as to who is his and who is not. The Truth is a person, not a book. May God's grace be upon you... - MichaelAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-86279470241673306232014-11-28T12:49:07.739-05:002014-11-28T12:49:07.739-05:00It makes me terribly sad too.

I am so sad that people like Bono believe they are doing work for God but they are only filthy rags if they are without belief in Christ as the ONLY way and the ONLY truth.Elizabeth Pratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04341086233512507156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-47977922832868953702014-11-28T10:37:07.992-05:002014-11-28T10:37:07.992-05:00I don't keep up with current culture like I sh...I don't keep up with current culture like I should. The other day I ran across a quote from Bono that made him sound like a Christian - I don't think I've ever heard a song by his band, but I have heard of him and know that he is well-known, so I was cautiously hopeful that he really is a believer. Of course I googled it to check. :) Imagine my surprise when the first article to appear ("is Bono a Christian discern") was this one! Thanks for doing the leg work for me. I had a feeling his profession couldn't be real because if it was he would not be so popular.Grace to Youhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02762614330823622639noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-39024617752377451752014-05-24T11:30:57.492-04:002014-05-24T11:30:57.492-04:00Bono, as fake as they come. JaniceBono, as fake as they come. I have seen the footage of him making prank phone calls on stage to completely unsuspecting people in a red devil suit mocking things Christian and holding up satanic/occultic as good. He wasn't being funny but very rude, sarcastic and downright cruel and he worked the audience up to join in mocking the person he was deriding; a person who had done nothing to anyone but simply turn up to work that night.

I find it frustrating when someone like him uses Christianese and people use that as proof of his spirituality. People are determinedly stubborn in refusing to say wrong is wrong and right is right. I have been called judgemental, critical, unloving, jealous, and lacking the Holy Spirit for saying he's not a Christian and using his behaviour and the Bible as the measuring stick. "It's just a character" I'm told. That doesn't wash with me as I'm professionally trained in theatre and no true Christian plays a demonic part willingly unless it is to be the nemesis, the one overcome by the power and glory of God.

Sounds like Bono is right on board with NWO's one world religion and doing his best to help establish it.
Shellienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-81537218643170981502013-07-04T07:22:17.335-04:002013-07-04T07:22:17.335-04:00Thanks for the good comment, now that you say abou...Thanks for the good comment, now that you say about the hegelian dialectic that makes perfect sense! Satan knows how to confound us- either he sells a false doctrine or he sells a true doctrine melded with corruption. Either way the result is the same.

I am working on a third and final article about why it matters that we know and understand who is a Christian and who is not, and to say so.Elizabeth Pratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04341086233512507156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-36727714146971966772013-07-04T07:18:05.500-04:002013-07-04T07:18:05.500-04:00Sounds like Bono uses the hegelian dialectic well....Sounds like Bono uses the hegelian dialectic well. He makes one statement and then cancels it out with another.
People fabricate a jesus out of their own understanding instead of THE Jesus that the Scriptures describe. That's why we must seach the Scriptures, like the Bereans did, when people start talking about being Christians and what they base that on.
Social justice seems to be another device of man to work his way to God. It makes people look good and feel good. Sounds good but that is not what the Bible says. Christians should do these things because of their love for God as evidence of their salvation.
These are really good articles, Elizabeth, because they demonstrate the difference between cultural Christianity and the real thing.
Thanks,
Pam
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-63884491199855380152013-07-03T20:37:12.808-04:002013-07-03T20:37:12.808-04:00I agree carolyn.
