The Arabs call Ethiopians Habesha and when the Europeans heard the word they modified it to Abyssinia.
It is true the current Ethiopia on the map is not the only territory of Biblical Ethiopia. When I was born there was no country called Djibouti or Eritrea. These "countries" belonged to Ethiopia. The Ocean we now call Pacific, used to be called Ethiopian. So, the teritorry of Ethiopia was vast. It is also true that the land of Kush is what is referred as Ethiopia. Do NOT forget that Canaan was a child of Ham and Canaanite owned the land now we call Palestine/ Israel.
As of the list of Gog/ Magog (that includes Ethiopia,) what can I say. The preacher must be uneducated about the Holy Book. The truth is, Ethiopia holds the secret of the salvation of the world. After all "Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.” (Psalms 68:31 )
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-59534334513791095002015-07-05T10:29:10.553-04:002015-07-05T10:29:10.553-04:00Land of the blacks all of Africa was called Kemet...Land of the blacks all of Africa was called Kemet(Ethiopia) according to historian HerodotusAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-18972430468587091322015-01-22T08:50:37.647-05:002015-01-22T08:50:37.647-05:00pope of Ethiopia was here in egypt from a week ago...pope of Ethiopia was here in egypt from a week ago to solve this problem and he visited pope of Egypt and the president for that reason and they praying and it gonna solve :) nothing will happens , :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-43794383359451125802014-03-01T06:35:50.138-05:002014-03-01T06:35:50.138-05:00Hi ANonymous,
You're right, the current natio...Hi ANonymous,

You're right, the current nations are not the biblical nations. The borders are different. I use the current name to mention the area. Cush is thought to be (as one scholar says) Ethiopia and some of Sudan, Somalia and Yemen (and possibly more of Africa). Another scholar says Cush was south of Egypt, possibly today's north Sudan.

The ancient land of Put is also part of the prophecy and this is where today's orders boverlap. Put was west of Egypt, possibly most of today's Libya. Another scholar believes Put was some of Egypt and North Africa.

In any case, the list of nations given includes Russia, Armenia, the -Stans, AKA Baltic States, Turkey, Saudi Arabia & Yemen, and some other peoples and an island nation (IMHO Comoros) and the prophecy also indicates the northern tier of nations currently inhabiting north Africa will be part of the Gog Magog battle, which today includes from Tunisia to Ethiopia.

Interestingly, absent from the prophecy is Egypt.

Ethiopia might be a Christian nation today but Christian nations in the world are fast disappearing. We can't look at prophecy through a lens of what is currently on the ground, but only through the bible.
Elizabeth Pratahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04341086233512507156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-61686193569947850452014-02-28T22:48:07.140-05:002014-02-28T22:48:07.140-05:00Today's Ethiopia is not biblical Ethiopia, mod...Today's Ethiopia is not biblical Ethiopia, modern day Ethiopia used to be called abysinia and it is a Christian nation. Maybe everyone I have conversed with so far has enough sense to see it's about the dumbest argument you could possibly come up with. The tooth fairy can't be disproven either. Process of elimination is a great method btw. I use that one myself in regards to religious texts compared to the Bible. Eliminate everything that's from one source (i.e. Koran, Book of Mormon, etc.), next, eliminate everything that doesn't claim to be inspired text then see what your left with. Ezekiel 41-48 has not come to pass- it speaks of the millennial kingdom to come after the tribulation. One of the most common things I hear is; "What? you believe in God just because He can't be disproven!?" Considering that I have faith, no that's not the reason...and also, even in atheistic secular science...due to the process of elimination...the only conclusion would be that God has to exist! =)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736720231951988221.post-6732920159839533392012-11-20T10:13:29.627-05:002012-11-20T10:13:29.627-05:00Of course you're right, I apologize. The Columbia has been dammed as well, of course, and that has caused it's own set of problems which were not anticipated. The Colorado has been dammed in several places, including Lake Powell. Most of the time it does not reach into Mexico any more, but is used up by America along the way. A very sad state of affairs. I think most of the rivers in the continental US have been dammed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
