In 2006, Best Buy said that it would be among the retailers that would not be using "Christmas" at all in their advertising that year. Dawn Bryant, a Best Buy spokeswoman, stated: "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them."
This year, Best Buy celebrates the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, the "Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid" in their ads.

It's a war on Christmas because it's satan's war on Christ. Stand firm, Christians! Don't say "Happy holidays." It's Merry Christmas!"

Elizabeth, thanks for posting this article about Best Buy. Sounds like anything bought there will be a Worst Buy. And it won't be by me!
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I see you have spotlighted the "One Second After" book. Have you either read it or listened to it (my recommendation)??
Grace and peace to you,
Larry
Hi Larry,
ReplyDeleteI JUST finished it a half hour ago. Phew, it absolutely me me go stone cold. Thank you so much for the recommendation! It was well worth reading. Very much so.
Hello. I am very happy to see the "Happy Eid al Adha" greeting on the Best Buy advertisement. I don't think it has to be at the expense of Christmas though. Regards.
