Up to 100 meteors an hour! From NASA:
"You know it's a good night when a beautiful alignment of planets is the second best thing that's going to happen. Thursday, August 12th, is such a night. The show begins at sundown when Venus, Saturn, Mars and the crescent Moon pop out of the western twilight in tight conjunction. All four heavenly objects will fit within a circle about 10 degrees in diameter, beaming together through the dusky colors of sunset. No telescope is required to enjoy this naked-eye event."
"The planets will hang together in the western sky until 10 pm or so. When they leave, following the sun below the horizon, you should stay, because that is when the Perseid meteor shower begins. From 10 pm until dawn, meteors will flit across the starry sky in a display that's even more exciting than a planetary get-together."

It is a great chance to see God's handiwork on display! Some things to think about as we see the planets come together and the stars fly:
Psalm 147:4 - He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.
Job 22:12 - Is not God in the height of heaven? Look also at the distant stars, how high they are!
Psalm 8:3-4 - When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?
Genesis 1:14 - And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

I hate religion when these so called predictors use it to predict the end of man. First, there has been about 5 catastrophic happenings that have wiped out species on the world (see Dinosaurs). The world has dramatically changed over the billions of years it has existed (see Ice Age). The hand of God had nothing to do with it. How many Trilobites were sinners (see 250 million years ago)? Even the Bible states that none of us will know when the end will come. Not even Scientologists.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, the bible does say when the end will come, and it gives specific and numerous predictors prior to this verse.
Delete"And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14.)
