What's up with the Obama worship?

So this weekend brought the Inaugural ceremonies to acknowledge Obama's second term as President of the United States. I'll say right off the bat, that it is my opinion gained through observation of the times (secular and biblical) that Obama is America's judgment. I believe he means ill for the nation and has been and will continue to dismantle it. Just so you know my stance at the outset ;)

Even a hermit would notice that there seems to be something different about the people's reaction to Obama, who, after all, is just a politician. In his earliest campaign days in 2007 and 2008 people saw in him a unique charisma capable of transfixing his audience and causing actual fainting. Even early on, the charisma exceeded adoration and plunked itself firmly into the land of physiological reaction (fainting, swooning, screaming) and Messianic language. This article's from 2008-

"Call it the Barack Obama traveling salvation show – campaign rallies and speeches that seem like the secular counterpart of tent-meeting revivals and evangelistic sermons common in the U.S. a century ago. And, in apparent similarity to the religious enthusiasm of that bygone era, some of those coming to hear the Democrat presidential candidate “preach” his message are fainting as he speaks."

In 2008, the NY Times remarked on Obama's charisma, calling it a cult of personality, perhaps unknowingly revealing the uniqueness of what is normally simply an attribute had veered into something deeper, and darker.
"Would we call this a cult of personality? Today that term is all around Barack Obama — perhaps because there seems so little other way to explain how a first-term senator has managed to dazzle his way to front-runner in the race for the presidency, how he walks on water for so many supporters, and how the mere suggestion that he is, say, mortal, risks vehement objection, or at least exposing the skeptic as deeply uncool. Charisma, as defined by the early sociologist Max Weber, was one of three “ideal types” of authority — the others were legal, as in a bureaucracy, and traditional, as in a tribe — and rested upon a kind of magical power and hero worship. Philosophers call it “civil religion,” using the language of religion and elevation to talk about your country."
Newsweek editor Evan Thomas, the same Newsweek that created a cover this week of Obama and named him as the Second Coming a few days ago, in 2009 wrote, "brought adulation over President Obama’s Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday, declaring on MSNBC: "I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God."

Newsweek didn't even bother to use a lower case "G".

This kind of reaction and language to describe Obama's unusual charisma continued unabated from his first appearances in 2007 through to now- where it was revealed this month that the reporter pool was 'treated' to a personal visit at hang-out their bar by Obama and they were all atwitter and a-flurry. It was a group swoon, a reporter said.

The Messianic language popped up again and as mentioned a moment ago, continues to this day. At yesterday's Inauguration Weekend church service the Reverend Braxton said,
Obama, said Braxton, was just like Moses facing the Red Sea: “forward is the only option … The people couldn’t turn around. The only thing that they could do was to go forward.” Obama, said Braxton, would have to overcome all obstacles – like opposition from Republicans, presumably, or the bounds of the Constitution. Braxton continued, “Mr. President, stand on the rock,” citing to Moses standing on Mount Horeb as his people camped outside the land of Israel.
But it wasn’t enough to compare Obama with the founder of Judaism and the prophet of the Bible. Braxton added that Obama’s opponents were like the Biblical enemies of Moses, and that Obama would have to enter the battle because “sometimes enemies insist on doing it the hard way.”
Yet the civil religion as mentioned in the above article surrounding the charismatic Obama goes much further than previously idolized or even idealized politicians, such as FDR or Ronald Reagan. That is because previously "civil religion" language was used by politicians to connect with the people to elevate their nation. But with Obama, civil religion language is used by the people to elevate the politician.

In the same NYT article it is stated, “What is troubling about the campaign is that it’s gone beyond hope and change to redemption,” said Sean Wilentz, a historian at Princeton..."

Without Jesus, what this whole Obama exercise shows us is that people without hope want hope. That people without a savior need a savior. That people who live in darkness will swap their loyalties to any 'dazzling' entity that comes along.

The Newsweek editor's sycophantic adulation of Obama and likening him in 2008 to God and in 2012 to the Second Coming is ironic in the extreme. It shows just how illogical and how deep into the craven psyche they will go in clinging to their false hope. Why? The same political figure that four years ago Newsweek endowed with all trust that he would get the nation out of the economic mess only deepened it, to the point where Newsweek itself has folded as a print publication by the opening of his second term. Yet as Newsweek fades away, they still give him godlike qualities as a Second Coming. With their dying breath they continue to reach out to their false god.

This is all a pale imitation of what will happen when the antichrist comes on the scene. By then, the church will have been raptured. Though the rapture will cause many to come to faith the number of unsaved, sinning, lawless, and ungodly will be running rampant, crawling over the world like cockroaches in the dark. They will love him.

Obama only promised hope and change, and did not deliver. They still love him now, even while the nation is practically living in a refrigerator box by the side of the road. The antichrist will have actual solutions and actually implement them. They will love him more.

They will love him because he will wear out the saints and make war against them. (Daniel 7:21), something the unsaved would really love to do now but the Restrainer is still on the earth. He will speak flatteries (Daniel 11:32) and great things (Revelation 13:5-6).

We have gone beyond mere 'charisma', the kind of human attribute given to likable politicians such as JFK and Reagan. No one ever called them gods or savior or national husband. With Obama's 'charisma' we entered the territory of nearly visible demonic, spiritual warfare. It is a supernatural charisma that sparks worship. The antichrist's appearance will cause exponentially more adoring fans, deeper worship, and more firm adherence to all-things-antichrist. What we see today is nothing compared to what's coming, as creepy as this Obama-worship is today.

"Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false" (2 Thessalonians 2:11). Many translations say " believe THE lie" and interpreters take that to mean they will believe the lie that antichrist is Messiah. It is hard to know for sure, but given the prophetic promise that the world will follow after the beast, (Revelation 13:3), it seems a reasonable interpretation.

When you shake your head at the foolishness of people who worship a man like Obama, think of how it will be when the Restrainer Holy Spirit is gone and they worship an evil man as THE Messiah, not just a god. Given the following that Obama has received and sustained despite the Spirit being on earth, as well as Jesus Christ's Bride, it's easy to see how the coming delusion will be deep and horrific.

The glory of the Lord is that now, we know Him now and we have nothing to fear. The Tribulation saints will know the Lord and will not be seduced by the antichrist, either. The New Living Translation says,

"He will flatter and win over those who have violated the covenant. But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him." (Daniel 11:32)

I pray you know Him. Jesus is the only Person worth knowing first and foremost. He will help you resist sin, and will take the scales off your eyes to see who the true Savior is!

  1. "So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal arrarel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, "The voice of a god and not of a man!" Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. But the Word of God grew and multiplied." Acts 12:21-24.

"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Heb 10:31.

Soon enough Obama will stand before the true and living God and give an account to the Judge of all men, Jesus Christ, as to why he did not refute the praise of men when they elevated him to god status. Just before he is cast into the lake of fire (unless he repents and believes on Jesus Christ for salvation) he will proclaim with his mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Phil. 2:9-11 & Rev. 5:13.

  2. Well, I am a hermit, (LOL) And I have noticed how strange this adoration...unearned adoration, I might add, has been lavished upon a man that was virtually unknown before 2008! A man who did n-o-t-h-i-n-g for our nation before that time, and IMHO nothing but harm since then.
I missed the speech, ( I was writing a post about MLK) but I watched the procession for as long as my poor stomach could take. I kept hearing the screams from the crowd, and my mind kept translating them as screams of torment while God meted out His judgment upon our nation for the sins of the people against our Creator!
I watched how that man held his head high, and smuggly accepted all the praise.
When the commentary suggested perhaps Obama would get out of the vehicle and walk for a ways to please the crowd...I just laughed and said aloud...Yeah right, like Barrack Obama is gonna turn down an opportunity to recieve praise?
I am still praying for the Holy spirit of God to bring conviction upon the man...like King Nebuchadnezzar...But I am afraid that at this point in history a national judgment is more likely to happen.
At one point I found myself watching the arrogance of Obama, and watching the foolishness of the crowd (people dancing and singing) And i said...Oh well, this is what 'The people' want.
Obama is a representation of what the multitudes have become...tolerant of sin, even if it is not their own sin, and blasphemous against God...mocking him at every chance...But God will not be mocked...
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows (Gal. 6:7)...
    ...A bitter harvest awaits America.

    2. WOW My thoughts, also. Unbelievable that a man can be so praised by man when Jamie Curtis called him our savior on national television, I got sick to my stomach. God is going to withdraw his hand from this country as he did in Sodom and Gomorrah because the people lost their love for the one true God.

  4. I think that your article just shows the heart of man without the grace of God.
I don't think that the earth-dweller's will have a hard time accepting the mark. It seems they will be willing not forced.
Satan comes as an angel of light, deceiving the many.
Knowing what is coming on this world makes me so thankful for God's mercy on me. But for His grace, there go I.

    Pretrib Rapture Pride

    by Bruce Rockwell

Pretrib rapture promoters like Thomas Ice give the impression they know more than the early Church Fathers, the Reformers, the greatest Greek New Testament scholars including those who produced the KJV Bible, the founders of their favorite Bible schools, and even their own mentors!
Ice's mentor, Dallas Sem. president John Walvoord, couldn't find anyone holding to pretrib before 1830 - and Walvoord called John Darby and his Brethren followers "the early pretribulationists" (RQ, pp. 160-62). Ice belittles Walvoord and claims that several pre-1830 persons, including "Pseudo-Ephraem" and a "Rev. Morgan Edwards," taught a pretrib rapture. Even though the first one viewed Antichrist's arrival as the only "imminent" event, Ice (and Grant Jeffrey) audaciously claim he expected an "imminent" pretrib rapture! And Ice (and John Bray) have covered up Edwards' historicism which made a pretrib rapture impossible! Google historian Dave MacPherson's "Deceiving and Being Deceived" for documentation on these and similar historical distortions.
The same pretrib defenders, when combing ancient books, deviously read "pretrib" into phrases like "before Armageddon," "before the final conflagration," and "escape all these things"!
BTW, the KJV translators' other writings found in London's famed British Library (where MacPherson has researched) don't have even a hint of pretrib rapturism. Is it possible that Ice etc. have found pretrib "proof" in the KJV that its translators never found?
Pretrib merchandisers like Ice claim that nothing is better pretrib proof than Rev. 3:10. They also cover up "Famous Rapture Watchers" (on Google) which shows how the greatest Greek NT scholars of all time interpreted it.
Pretrib didn't flourish in America much before the 1909 Scofield Bible which has pretribby "explanatory notes" in its margins. Not seen in the margins was jailed forger Scofield's criminal record throughout his life that David Lutzweiler has documented in his recent book "The Praise of Folly" which is available online.
Biola University's doctrinal statement says Christ's return is "premillennial" and "before the Tribulation." Although universities stand for "academic freedom," Biola has added these narrow, restrictive phrases - non-essentials the founders purposely didn't include in their original doctrinal statement when Biola was just a small Bible institute! And other Christian schools have also belittled their founders.
Ice, BTW, has a "Ph.D" issued by a tiny Texas school that wasn't authorized to issue degrees! Ice now says that he's working on another "Ph.D" via the University of Wales in Britain. For light on the degrees of Ice's scholarliness, Google "Bogus degree scandal prompts calls to wind up University of Wales," "Thomas Ice (Bloopers)," "be careful in polemics - Peripatetic Learning," and "Walvoord Melts Ice."
Other fascinating Google articles include "The Unoriginal John Darby," "X-raying Margaret," "Edward Irving in Unnerving," "Pretrib Rapture Politics," "Pretrib Rapture Secrets," "Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty," "Pretrib Hypocrisy," "Pretrib Rapture Secrecy," and "Roots of Warlike Christian Zionism" - most from the author of "The Rapture Plot," the most accurate documentation on pretrib rapture history.
Can anyone guess who the last proud pretrib rapture holdout will be?

    1. This will be in 2 parts

      It's bunk.

First, the early church fathers believed in it and taught it.
Second, the rapture being pre-trib is in the bible.
Third, it is the only doctrinal stance that doesn't make God out to be a liar.

      OK, let's address number 1-

Here is a list of early church fathers who believed in the pre-tribulation rapture:

      Jesus, Rev 3:10
      John, 14:1-3
      Paul, 1 Thess 4:11-15
      Papias (60-130)
      Clement of Rome (90-100)
      The Sherpherd of Hermas (96-150)
      Ignatius of Antioch (98-117)
      Barnabas (100)
      The Didache (100-160)
      Justin Martyr (110-165)
      The Epistle of Barnabas (117-138)
      Irenaeus (120-202)
      Tertullian (145-220)
      Hippolytus (185-236)
      Cyprian (200-250)
      Lactantius (260-330)

You can go here to read more about these early church fathers and read what they wrote about it. http://www.essentialchristianity.com/pages.asp?pageid=21918

But let’s not rely solely on men to see about the rapture. Part of satan’s schemes is to get is diverted from the Word. So, let’s look at the bible.

Second: the rapture as pre-trib is in the bible.

In Revelation 3:10, God is talking to the Church at Philadelphia. He says:
"Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth."

He is not speaking to an individual, or the disciples, but to the church. Has the hour of testing come? No. Jesus said it will affect 'the whole world.’ A trial or tribulation affecting the whole world has not come. The word 'world' means the entire inhabited earth, so Jesus could not have meant the pockets of persecution various parts of the body has endured till now. It is clear he was speaking of the Tribulation. And He is going to keep His church from it. Some however are not satisfied with an explicit promise from Jesus and still want ‘proof.’
So, less explicitly, the letter to the Thessalonians were a reassurance that they had not missed the rapture. (The letter was in part to correct their misunderstanding of prophetic events- 1 Thess 4:13-I Thess 5:11). In 1 Thess 4:13-18 Paul spends time reassuring them about the coming of the Lord for us. THEN Paul goes on to describe the destruction of the wicked in 1 Thess 5:1-13. Why would Paul need to reassure them they had not missed the rapture and were about to enter Tribulation, if they were going to go thru the Tribulation? He would be writing something entirely different if they had been told they were about to go thru it. Instead, he says ‘be encouraged with these words” and there is nothing encouraging about the “worst time the earth has eve seen or will see again” as Jesus warned in Mt 24. Paul would have said ‘be strong or something like that, not ‘be encouraged’.

      TO BE CONTINUED

      Delete
    2. CONTINUED

Third, God is not a liar.

--Regarding Rev 3:10, if the Church is to go thru the Tribulation, why would He need to test the faithful? On the one hands He commends us for being faithful but then turns around and tests us to see if we are faithful? He would be a liar then.

--Acts 1:9-11 says, After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.

When Jesus returns after the Tribulation He does not come in “this same way.” He comes WITH his saints and on a white horse. In order to come “in this same way”, there must be two comings, one in the rapture partially to earth, and one at the end of the Tribulation when he returns to earth and stands on the Mount of Olives, as Zechariah 14 shows. In Paul’s rapture verses, particularly 1 Thess 4:17, it says Jesus comes in the clouds. Therefore if Jesus does not return ‘in this same way’ for us in a rapture prior to the Tribulation, then He is a liar.

--He said that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church (Mt 16:18) but in the Tribulation, power is given to the beast to make war with the saints and overcome them (Rev 13:7; Daniel 7:21). If the church is overcome, Jesus is a liar.

--He said the Tribulation is to punish sin (Dan 9:24). But He told us He has forgotten our sin and will not be judged for it. The entire point of justification is that we have had justice rendered on us, His justice is that we are forgiven-pardoned- our sentence commuted and expunged. (Romans 5:1). If we were to be justified but punished anyway that makes God out to be a liar.

He has said He has cast our sins into his forgetfulness (Psalm 103:11-12: Micah 7:19; Hebrews 10:17.) If he punishes them in the Tribulation as it states in Daniel 9:24, then He is a liar.

And simply as logic goes, it is inconsistent that He would spend two thousand years perfecting and protecting His bride only to drag her through the mud and shred her at the end.,

It is much more likely that these RECENT attacks on the pre-tribulation stance have come as we have neared the time of the rapture. Attacks have also come hard and fast on the millennial kingdom, God’s promises to Israel, the sufficiency of the bible, Jesus’s holiness (“He is love, He won’t judge”)…all these attacks are part and parcel of the devil making trouble for the saints that were exactly predicted in the bible.

Not to worry, I firmly believe the biblical and historical evidence shows the rapture will be pretrib, and equally the bible promised that as we near the end, faith will become weak and satan’s attacks will pollute the earth. We see both of these things happening now. As a matter of fact, when Peter said in 2 Peter 3:3, mockers and scoffers will come asking where is the promise of His coming, Peter meant people inside the church (Greek word for mockers implies false teachers, not that people of the world will be saying it). Isn’t that exactly what is happening now, people inside the church who are really false teachers saying where is the promise of His coming? Yes.

  6. If you know Jesus then you should know by now that Satan created America and that he owns both parties.

There is an agenda at work and it is the antichrist agenda. No way to know exactly where Obama fits into this agenda just yet, but you can be sure that he is working toward it just like Bush, CLinton and every other president.

Think of it this way, would there be any need for politics at all if we did not live in a fallen world?

And either you believe the Bible or you do not. The Bible is clear that Satan controls the nations of the earth and that the Mystery of Iniquity was at work since way back when. That is the antichrist plan: to destroy mankind and derail God's plans for us. It is real and is is happening right in front of your eyes.

    1. Travis, while I heartily agree with several things you said, I respectfully must disagree with several of your premises. Satan did not create America. Satan never created anything. God is sovereign and He creates nations and governments and kings. (Daniel 2:21, Job 12:18, Prov 8:15...)

Satan does not control the nations. God does. For His own purposes, He allows satan some latitude, (2 Cor 4:4) but Jesus has the title deed to the earth and God controls it all. (Rev 5:5).

I agree that satan's plan is to thwart God's plan, and he will try to use the antichrist to do it. However, he will not be successful.

Like you, I am also looking forward to the absence of fallen man's machinations and scheming, AKA politics, when Jesus establishes His theocracy. Meanwhile, even if a government has forgotten its purpose to serve the people and has become oppressive, we are still to live is submission to it(1 Peter 2:13-14); 1 Pet 2:18-19), patiently enduring till He comes.
