Watch this: it will help you to esteem others above yourself

I found this to be helpful in how to think of other people in my never-ending quest to esteem others above myself.

"Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." (Philippians 2:3)

  1. Funny how sometimes your posts get me thinking, but I don't always immediately respond. This post got me re-thinking - I had been reflecting on the one-another'ings in the NT epistles lately, how that love summarizes the Christian walk. So this post got my mind back in that loop of thought. Some verses that came to mind:

    Eph 5
1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us...

    Romans 12
10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor

    1 Cor 12
24 ...But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, 25 so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

    Gal 5
13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. (Also vs 14!)

    1 John 4
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

    John 13
35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

There are so many other good ones I could post! The verse you referenced from Phil 2 being one of them!

    Gal 5
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

Esteeming others is only possible through walking in the Spirit! The flesh is by nature selfish.

Thanks for getting me thinking again about walking in love, the one-another'ings.

And thank you for "encouraging and building up one another". (1 Thess 5:11) :)

    1. Great! It got me to thinking also. Glad we share the ponderings in our hearts together.

    2. Yes! We do share the pondering in our hearts together, because:

      Romans 15
5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

And wow, this verse is really astonishing:

      1 Cor 2
16 ... But we have the mind of Christ.

Your Quiet Life blog entries about your BBs also exemplify this one-another'ing concept. How you share with others, and they with you. Just like the church of Acts.
