More Pope Francis news. This man's rapid departure from age-old Catholic dogma is bringing the world closer to ecumenism in a faster fashion than any other man or philosophy I've ever seen. Amazingly bad news just keeps coming from the Vatican
Pope Francis will consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 13. The consecration will take place as part of a pilgrimage that will bring thousands of members of groups promoting Marian piety to the Vatican.
The statue of Our Lady of Fatima is scheduled to travel to Rome on October 12. It will be only the 11th time since the statue was made in 1920 that it has been removed from the Portuguese Marian shrine.
Pope Francis and the pilgrims will welcome the statue to St Peter’s Square during an evening prayer service on October 12. The statue will then be taken to the Rome Shrine of Divine Love, where the Diocese of Rome plans an all-night vigil.
The statue and the pilgrims will return to St Peter’s Square on October 13 for the recitation of the rosary and Mass with Pope Francis. In a press statement, the directors of the Fatima shrine said Pope Francis will consecrate the world to Mary during the event. (source)
-----------------
First, this is idolatry in every sense of the word. He is lifting up a man-made statue as an object of worship and as a 'special sign.' Secondly, this destroys any straight-face notion that the Catholics do not worship Mary (something they deny by parsing the word 'venerate', as in "We don't worship her, we venerate her".) The Mary here is of course the mother of Jesus who incubated the Savior in her womb, birthed the sinless Son, and raised him with Joseph until Jesus became of age.
But third, the hubris contained in Francis's seemingly humble action betrays the man's pride. Or perhaps his realism- the pope is the only absolute monarch in the world, accountable to no one for as long as he holds the office. Francis' action is intended to 'consecrate the world'. According to the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry, Consecrate means
"To consecrate something is to formally set it apart for special use. Bread was consecrated in the Old Testament (Exodus 25:30; Lev. 25:5-9) as were people (Rom. 1:1; Gal.1:15)."
For the Pope to believe he has the power to set the WORLD apart for any use that he chooses is hubris on the order of the pride that satan himself has, believing he will exalt himself above God's holy mountain. (Isaiah 14:4).
This is not the first time Pope Francis has been in the news. You remember he became Pope under extremely unusual circumstances. The previous Pope, Benedict, suddenly and abruptly resigned, the first pope to do so in 600 years. This opened the papal monarchy to another candidate. That man was Francis. The resignation event occurred in February of this year. The papacy of Francis began in mid-March of this year, 2013.
The second unusual thing about Francis is that though he has been pope only for 7 short months, he has upended and subverted the entrenched Catholic dogma up on its ear. He has made the news almost constantly since ascending his papacy by uttering liberal policies and teaching what has for thousands of years been anathema to Catholics. For example:
Pope Francis On Gays: Who Am I To Judge Them?
Pope Francis: Gays, Abortion Too Much Of Catholic Church's Obsession
Pope Francis denies Jesus
Pope says there is no need to convert anyone
and of course Francis displays the usual Catholic Mary-idolatry
Pope Francis prays to Mary in Lampedusa
This is all extraordinary given that if nothing else, the Vatican has always adhered to their false religion and dogma fiercely. It is also unusual in that the Vatican never takes rapid steps or makes abrupt turns. Yet Francis has only been in office for 7 months and seemingly not a monthy gos by without reading of an amazing about-face from the Vatican.
The Vatican is the oldest "international legal personality" in the world, AKA the oldest formed and longest lasting government in the world, established in 480AD.
Take note of the rapidity of the changes Francis is bringing. And always remember that the Catholic religion is a false religion, therefore we are not surprised when the world acts like the world.
Pope Francis's sudden appearance onto the world stage, his wide promotion as a faithful, humble man, and how clearly he speaks the world's language is all extremely interesting as it is happening at this juncture in time.
I turn from pope-watching and look instead for my Savior. Is He due at the appointed hour soon to collect His bride? As the world falls further into ecumenism, faithlessness and Christ-less despair, does this mean the soon appearance of our beloved Groom? One hopes so. Even so,
"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philippians 3:20)
And we wait, patiently enduring, watching the extraordinary events on earth, knowing a better future awaits those who love him.

Great post and I agree. Just putting this out there for all who read this blog:
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who's church never mentions current events? Its bizarre to me, with everything that is going on! Its the proverbial elephant in the living room......you would have to PURPOSLY choose to not mention it, I would think, because how could you not see it?!
Anon. For the most part people see what they want. American church leaders have for the most part have a divided allegiance. When persecution comes everyone will have to choose. The biggest reason that nothing is said is actually the agreement for the 501 (c) 3 status has caused them to be blind to some of what is happening.
DeleteFor a 501c3 church to openly speak out, or organize in opposition to, anything that the government declares "legal," even if it is immoral (e.g. abortion, homosexuality, etc.), that church will jeopardize its tax exempt status. The 501c3 has had a "chilling effect" upon the free speech rights of the church. LBJ was a shrewd and cunning politician who seemed to well-appreciate how easily many of the clergy would sell out.
Read on here: http://hushmoney.org/501c3-facts.htm
The Catholic church actually first implemented tax exemption in order to control people and the church organization.

What we, Gods people really need to get right know is that we should guard against placing ourselves under the jurisdiction or authority of anyone other than Christ. He is our mediator.
Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus ye soldiers of the cross, lift His royal banner, ye will not suffer loss.
We are there with you. Most of the the church in America is living in la la Disneyland. If one mentions current events and relates it to the Bible they are crazy date setting Bible beaters. It seems to be a small group who are really watching. I know that group consists of thousands but in the big picture it seems small. Church is big business....mortgages and salaries to meet...........they have sold themselves out to the Babylonian system.
DeleteArrgh! You are all getting your Catholicism from the liberal media. Contact your local bishop for explanation on things you do not understand. Catholics are not practicing idolatry. So if I visit the Lincoln Memorial does it mean I worship Lincoln? Of course not. If there are pictures of your family members & friends in your home, does that mean you worship them? Of course not. There's a differnce between worshiping and venerating.
DeleteAnonymous,
DeleteUnfortunately no, we're not getting our Catholicism from the liberal media. We look at the word of God and we look at the Catholic Catechism and it is Catholicism that comes up short.
1. Worship and veneration are synonyms. Catholics idolize Mary. Your religion teaches that it is OK to pray to her or otherwise worship her as long as it isn't "divine" worship. Again, this is splitting hairs.
CARM explains after having examined the following sources, NONE of which are liberal media, "Vatican Website3, the Catholic Encyclopedia4, the entire Council of Trent5, Vatican II6 and the Catechism of the Catholic Church,7, Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma,8 and the Catholic Dictionary9 "
That Catholics understand that "divine worship is for God only, yet it also says it is okay to bow down before a statue of Mary, pray to Mary, believe that Mary delivers us from death, believe Mary atoned for us, etc., as long as you don't give her "divine worship." In other words, you can do almost anything worship-wise to Mary as you would to God, just don't call it "divine worship."
Anon, though Roman Catholicism ascribes royalty to Mary, Roman Catholicism does not attribute divinity to Mary (at least, not yet), but it does attribute divine powers to her: atonement of sin; divine access to God, delivering our souls from death; her intercession brings us salvation, etc. SOURCES: Fundamentals of Catholic dogma, Ott, page 213
13. Vatican Website: Encyclical of Pope Leo 13th on the Rosary, Octobri Mense, Pope Leo 13th, 1903-1914
14. CCC 966
15. CCC par. 969
Again, none of which are liberal but are your own Catholic sources.
In Luke 11:28 Jesus expressly denied that Mary was blessed because she bore Him and nursed Him.
Compare Idolatry in the Bible
Altars to Idols: 2 Chron. 33:15, "He also removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the Lord, as well as all the altars which he had built on the mountain of the house of the Lord and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside the city.
Idolatry of Mary by Catholics
"From the beginning of Christianity special veneration was paid to the Mother of God, which in the language of theology is called hyperdulia, to distinguish the honour rendered to her from that given to the other saints. It is not strange, therefore, that after the main or principal altar, the most prominent is that dedicated in a special manner to the Mother of God; and to indicate this specific preference, this altar is usually placed in the most prominent position in the church, i.e. at the right (gospel) side of the main altar. In general it signifies any altar of which the Blessed Virgin is the titular."" Source: Catholic encyclopedia, Altar of Our Lady.
IDOLATRY. Please understand that you are in a religion that does not save. I pray you read the Gospels yourself and not from a Catholic bible but a real bible and let the Holy Spirit grab your heart and drag you from the darkness to the light.
You can read more comparisons of your Dogma from the CCC to the actual bible here

I thank you first for taking the time to write this post which I assume you have written with an honest analysis to the best of your knowledge.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there are some problems with what you have written.
First, the statue is a representation of Mary. The best analogy I can give you is a photo of your wife, loved one or child. When you kiss the photo when you are away from them, that doesn't mean you think the photo IS them. You are kissing the photo in memory of that person. This is the same here. When a Catholic kisses a Marian statue or statue of any other saint and even a statue of Jesus, they do not think that the statue IS Jesus. Almost everyone today recognizes that.
Perhaps your confusion is because you do not understand what idolatry actually means. Idolatry is to think that man made images are actually Gods. So the idea if not that a statue of Baal represents this God that exists somewhere called Baal. Rather, the idea is that the statue IS Baal. Do you see the difference? If you understand that concept, it will help you understand a lot of things pertaining to Catholic piety.
Secondly, Mary is not just an "incubator" for Christ. What you have perhaps missed is that Christ chose to take the flesh from Mary. He didn't just pick you or me. Moreover, Christ had no need for Mary to enter in to this world since he was God. He could have descended to earth in a completely unique "flesh" that had nothing in common with anyone else. But he did not do that. He chose to be born of Mary. He chose her to be his mother. God who gave the commandment to love, honor and respect ones parents had his beloved Son born of Mary who he would respect and honor. If you will for a moment contemplate on the fact that Christ became a helpless infant that was cradled and loved by his mother in a way that neither you nor me will ever come close to, you will learn much about the importance of Mary and the privileges God has given her.
I know as possibly a Protestant (an assumption I am making which I think is reasonable), this is perhaps not easy for you. But just contemplate the life of Jesus as an infant and a child and I am sure you will learn much.
Third, you were puzzled by how the Pope can "consecrate". It should first be said that it is not only the Pope but all Bishops and (even Priests when given permission by Bishops or Popes) can perform consecrations.
So where does this right come from? It comes from Matthew 18:18 where Jesus, our Lord and Savior, says "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven".
Therefore, the Pope has been given the authority to bind on heaven and earth.
Now you may of course disagree. But you would have to think of an alternate interpretation for Matthew 18:18 now which at the end of the day, is no better than anyone else's guess from your perspective (including that of the Catholic one).
In Christ,
Eufrosnia
Eufrosnia,
DeleteI come to you as a sincere woman who is concerned for the lost, and this includes many of the 1.2 billion Catholics who adhere to the false interpretations of the religion of works. Catholicism is a religion that does not save, it teaches doctrines aberrant to the bible and preaches works.
First, parsing the language to say that a statue of Mary is just a statue but the pagans in the Old Testament really thought that the statue WAS Baal is splitting hairs. The commandment not to lift up (worship) any representation other than Christ is just that, a commandment--
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me" Exodus 20:4-5
Also, the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. It is set apart for Jesus, not for Mary.
“for, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it."” 1 Cor 10:26
I understand what idolatry is according to the word of God. Idolatry means:
Bowing before it:
Isaiah 44:17, "But the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image. He falls down before it and worships; he also prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god."
Praying to it, see verse above.
Worshiping it:
Deuteronomy 30:17, "But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them."
Kissing a photo is not idolatry. Kissing a photo you have elevated to a high place of exaltation and worship, is. There is a difference. If you kiss a photo of your wife as wife, fine. If you kiss a photo of your wife as goddess, not fine. Mary is a sinner and a dead person. She is in heaven with the rest of the believers, having no more, no less of a status than any other dead person alive in Christ. For God shows no partiality. (Romans 2:11) Additionally, Praying to her is sorcery. Deuteronomy 18:11 tells us that anyone who “consults with the dead” is “detestable to the Lord.”
The papal office has no authority. There is no apostolic succession. Catholics base this false notion on the verse you quoted:
:And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. (Matthew 16:18)" Jesus built the church upon Himself, not Peter. Here it is explained to you-
“In Matthew 16:18–20 Jesus points up features and characteristics of the church that He builds. First, He set forth the foundation of the Church: And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church."
“For more than fifteen hundred years the Roman Catholic church has maintained that this passage teaches the church was built on the person of Peter, who became the first pope and bishop of Rome and from whom the Catholic papacy has since descended. Because of this supposed divinely ordained apostolic succession, the pope is considered to be the supreme and authoritative representative of Christ on earth. When a pope speaks ex cathedra, that is, in his official capacity as head of the church, he is said to speak with divine authority equal to that of God in Scripture.
"Such an interpretation, however, is presumptuous and unbiblical, because the rest of the New Testament makes abundantly dear that Christ alone is the foundation and only head of His church.”
You can read more here- it is a biblical explanation of what the verse you quoted actually means. http://www.gty.org/resources/bible-qna/BQ51111/Upon-this-Rock-I-Will-Build-My-Church
I pray you come to saving knowledge of faith thru grace alone. If not, when the rapture happens and you are left on earth to believe the antichrist's delusion, you will know why. I pray your soul magnifies the lord, and not Mary, the pope, or anything else except the saving blood of Jesus.
Eufrosnia, the very act of talking to dead people is despised by God. (Leviticus 19:31) And this is what the Catholic church does by encouraging their flock to pray to Mary and the dead saints. This practice can be traced back to ancient Babylon and has manifested in recent times through the Roman Catholic Church. If a million people simultaneously prayed to Mary, will she be able to hear them all? No, because Mary is a human being just like us and is not omnipresent like the Almighty God. Going to directly to God, praying boldly before the throne of grace is what honors and pleases God rather than getting sidetracked by the traditions of men.
DeleteSorry for raining on your parade, Elizabeth. I just couldn't resist answer. lol
Anonymous, please DO respond as you see fit! My brethren are so often much more eloquent than I am, and you see different aspects to respond to in a comment. Thanks!
DeleteAs for a photo or statue of "Mary," we have no idea what she looked like. And the same is true for images of Jesus. In both situations, the image is one made up by the artist and does not represent the person.
DeleteLet me put it to you this way: If I carried in my wallet a photo of a Playboy model and said it reminded me of my wife, do you think my wife would be flattered? Do you think she'd approve? In the same way, if I have an image of "Christ" and claim it reminds me of Him to look at it, do you really think Christ is flattered? And if Mary truly is looking down on us, do you think she would be flattered by "venerating" a picture or statue while claiming it directs the person to think of her? IDOLATRY - pure and simple.
Just thought I'd add that bit of a "thought bomb" into the mix!
thanks Glenn, it's a great analogy!
DeleteHey Elizabeth, your musings on this pope might not be too far off the mark after all. Seems like a likely candidate to me.

Folks should know that the last really big swath of real-estate consecrated to "The Immaculate Heart of [the] Mary-[Impersonating Demon Entity]" was Russia... in 1917, few months before Lenin took over, and then again in 1929 at the start of the Great Depression, the rise of Joseph Stalin and global famine. That little experiment didn't go very well...
ReplyDeleteThose well-steeped in God's Word can check out the background of that deception at: http://www.fatima.org/essentials/message/reqconsec.asp Others should stay away. Satan's enticing imitation light is in fact deep darkness.
For a picture of the real human woman who gave birth to Jesus -- and what He said about her -- see Matthew 12:46-50 (and Mark 3:31-34 & Luke 8:19-21), Luke 2:41-52, John 19:25-27, and Acts 1:14.
Most ESPECIALLY, note the plain directive he gives against worshiping his mother, in Luke 11:27-28 and 1) that it reflects a popular spirit already present and fighting against him, 2) that it comes immediately after Jesus' admonitions about the return of an unclean spirit, and 3) how his abbreviated end-times warning in Luke 23:29 uses the same phraseology.
I would worry that the vatican would so choose to keep it , you know, for security reasons
ReplyDeleteThe Matthew 16:18–20 scriptures that we are familiar with are Christ's words translated to Greek. Christ spoke to Peter in Aramaic "You are Kephas and upon this Kephas I will build my church". There is only one word for rock in Aramaic, "kephas". There is no masculine/feminine distinction.
ReplyDeletePeter or Kephas, Pietro, Pete or Petros, Greek or Aramaic, it doesn't matter. Jesus is building His church upon Peter's *confession* that Jesus is the Christ. Christ is building the Church, not Peter. The church is built by people who confess the Lord is Christ.
DeleteMatthew 16:13-18 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rockb I will build my church, and the gates of hellc shall not prevail against it.
Only one true church is the Roman catholic church of which pope Francis is the supreme pontiff. No other organization in the entire world cares for more people than the Catholic church. If you are a protestant please ask yourself why are there over 30,000 plus denominations of protestant churches all proclaiming to preach the truth? As for the blessed virgin Mary "from now on all ages will call me blessed" Luke 1,48. I love being a catholic and having a family with God as my father, Mary as my mother , and Jesus as my lord and savior. I will continue to pray for all my separated brothers and sisters in Jesus.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, the reason there are over 30,000 Protestant denominations is the same reason that the Roman Catholic Church has reversed itself on doctrine, satan. He introduced false doctrines the very moment Jesus ascended. Almost all the books of the New Testament deal with one kind of false doctrine or another, and even name some of the people and factions bringing them.
DeleteThe RCC is not a Christian church. It teaches a works-based faith, and unbiblical things like indulgences, purgatory, saints, Mary worship, idolatry, paganism.
There are several biblical doctrinal standards by which if someone believes, then they are a Christian. They not only must belieive these as the bible says, but not violate them. These doctrines are
1. There is only one God and you are to serve no other gods (Exodus 20:3; Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8).
2. Jesus is both God and man (John 1:1,14; 8:24; Col. 2:9; 1 John 4:1-4).
3. Jesus rose from the dead physically (John 2:19-21; 1 Cor. 15:14).
4. Salvation is by grace through faith (Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8-9; Gal. 3:1-2; 5:1-4).
5. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus according to the scriptures (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Gal. 1:8-9).
6. God is a Trinity (Matt. 28:19; 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 2 Cor. 13:14).
7. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary (Matt. 1:25
the RCC violates #1 and #4. Please read more here, Please,

Ad "this embeds Mary's Magnificat and explains why she said future generations will call her blessed (hint: because she as a sinner worshiping her Savior said Jesus has some wonderful things in His holy name- NOT because she has special status. She is a sinner, it's why she called Jesus her Savior in her Magnificat)

It is very dangerous for the Christian Soul
ReplyDeletejoin to a false pope; the
false pope is like "a foreign god
in this world, an idol, a statue, a
fictitious image of Christ
(Saint Vicente Ferrer)
Hello Anonymous,
DeleteIt is true, joining a false pope is very dangerous tot he soul!. However, ALL popes are false. The word pope is an old Latin and Greek word, a child's term for father "papa". Yet Matthew 23:9 says, "And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven."
Since their job in this world is vicar of Christ, literally, vicarious substitute for Christ on earth, by definition, all popes are false.
