A reader asked if the seeds of apostasy were always in Beth Moore or if they are just emerging now.
The answer is both.
There are only two states for man: we are either 'in Adam' (sin) or we are 'in Christ' (righteous). (1 Corinthians 15:22). If a teacher is in Christ, they will always grow more sanctified. Sanctification ALWAYS grows in an increasing, upward direction. Sure, sometimes it is slower than others, and for a season a teacher might teach something false, but Spirit will never allow a sanctified teacher to remain in heresy or falsity. The Spirit is in us to testify of Christ, not satan. (John 15:26). The Spirit will cause a sanctified teacher eventually to see his or her error and repent of it, and then continue growing.
There are false teachers who are in sheep's clothing. (Matthew 7:15). Since those 'in Adam' always grow too, but grow in their sin, eventually they outgrow those sheep's clothes and their falseness becomes apparent. At some point they are unable to keep up the charade. Moore has outgrown her sheep clothes.
But she has always been false.
It's a business chart but it shows clearly what I'm talking about in the Christian, sanctified life. Wolves might walk for a while with us, but they outgrow their ability to hide Source |

Well said Elizabeth!
ReplyDelete1 John 2 (NAS)
19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.
Also:
Matthew 7 (NAS)
23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
Notice: regarding these false teachers - they were not of us, and Jesus declares to them, I *never* knew you.

Colossians 2:18 is a dagger in the heart to false teachers like Beth Moore.
I have often thought that born again believers needed to get together and form a clearing house designed to at least give reformed Christians a list of potential Church homes that appear to teach a Biblically sound doctrine.
ReplyDeleteI realize there are many inherent difficulties with attempting to design and implement such a ministry but the results will certainly be a breath of fresh air when compared to the methods we see used in attracting the unchurched with coffee, rock and roll and other fleshly attractions.
Church, after all, is for believers. And any effort to identify places of worship recognizing that fact is certainly better than no effort at all. Born again congregates will know quickly whether or not they are in the right place and either support it, change it or leave it.
At least a "Clearing House" will increase the odds of locating a good Church and maybe even more importantly keep families away from those churches with wolf prints leading to the pulpit.
We found our current church by an unorthodox means: While reading sermons at the Grace To You (California) site, I noticed the name of an individual who, years ago, was on the GTY staff. Now he pastors a church in my town. I felt confident that I would hear the truth preached at this church. We have been attending for a little while now and are considering transferring over (our current church is losing a good teaching pastor, and we don't know what the future holds). So my advice is, start with a credible organization and then network if you can.

Thanks for your post. I have done BM classes for years and had enjoyed them. I found it troublesome to hear the words "false teacher" applied to her. So, I did some homework. She is indeed, a false teacher. Upon listening to some of her teachings and looking beneath the surface, what I found was an excellent "motivational speaker". BM appeals to the emotional aspects of womanhood. She speaks with much energy and humor. While raising her hand in discussion of certain negative characteristics, she asks "anybody do the same thing as me, anybody?" Of course we can relate, and one is "hooked" by her appeal to connect. I found a recent teaching of hers particularly dangerous when she was talking about the "scoffers" who will come and not believe (her teachings), she issued a warning that this will come, and for her audience to stand strong. Thank you for your information.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for doing your homework. It honors Jesus.
DeleteI hear ya, "Anonymous". I have really only heard "snatches" of Beth Moore's teaching, it seemed sound, so I recently signed up for a Bible study at a local So. Baptist church. At the same time I saw the online news about her visit with Joyce Meyer and their program set to air near the end of October. I said, "Whoa!" I did some more searching, I found this column, and then I went back to the ladies hosting the Bible study. I tried to be extremely kind and gracious throughout several email exchanges, but they were on the defensive. They twisted what I said and ignored my real questions. I wanted to go back to them again, but finally decided I couldn't do that. The whole scenario was wrong. I can only hope that the broadcast with the 2 women will open eyes though I think it will appeal to most people as just the greatest opportunity ever for 'unity'. This makes as much sense as (keeping it within Southern Baptist --though I'm not Southern Baptist) Charles Stanley having a "crusade" with Benny Hinn or Kenneth Copeland. Oy vey! Thank you, Elizabeth, for helping to keep us all aware. We certainly need to have a great deal of discernment!
DeleteElizabeth I have just come across your information on Beth and only this week I have been finding out things from other discernment sites on Beth. I am not from the USA so have not been exposed to much of her teaching /preaching.
DeleteBut there is one thing that I find on the discernment sites that I have looked at that no one seems to have investigated or looked into her University involvement with 'Chi Omega '.
The little that I could find on this organization that she was a part of is that it is certainly NOT of the Spirit of God.
I unfortunately have not been able to read up all your info but wonder if you have looked into that involvement at all.
The reason Why I ask is would that not have been the start of the Deceiving Spirit within her.
Yvonne, I have no idea what Chi Omega is, I looked her bio upon Wikipedia, it says this:
Delete"Moore holds a degree in political science from Southwest Texas State University, where she pledged and was initiated into Chi Omega, and an honorary doctorate of humanities from Howard Payne University."
Is there a problem with this organization?
As far as the deception under which she labors, either a person is saved or not saved. If saved by grace, the Spirit WILL produce fruit in keeping with a person's sanctifying growth. We would expect to see lots of fruit from a person like Moore by this point. (Mt 7:16).
If a person is not saved, they can hide the fact by pretending to do good works, but in fact only have a form of godliness but are denying its power. (2 Tim 3:5)
Moore is the latter. And since sin will find us out, (Numbers 32:23) a person cannot hide forever. We see her errors now more and more clearly as she goes along, and are evidence of an untransformed heart spiritually blinded to the truth.

ReplyDeleteYes Chi Omega does appear as a Fraternity (they no longer call themselves a sorority) “that promotes good ethics and high academic standards”
But then so do the Freemasons!
And I am sure you must be aware of this organizations true background. If not it would be usefull to read up books or hear teachings on the subject by former Freemasons who left the organization and turned to Christ as their Saviour.
Dr Charles Richardson a dentist and a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity had a great influence on the forming of Chi Omega. It appears that many of the members of Kappa Sigma were also Freemasons. And it appears that freemason rituals and secret oaths are involved as well. Even naming themselves Grand Master like with the Freemasons.
Firstly I don’t understand why so many fraternities and sororities in the USA are so influenced by the Ancient Greek culture of Pagan Gods and mystical ceremonies, oaths and initiations. Totally contrary to the Christian belief.
Here are a few items I will pass on for you to look into:
Chi Omeg’sa use of the Skull and crossbones. A symbol of death. Used in Freemasonry as well.
The naming of their magazine Eleusius
“Eleusis, the city of Greece where the mystic rites were performed, was named in honor of the son of Mercury, the messenger of the Gods; hence the name of Chi Omega's messenger, The Eleusis.”

Under the heading LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR HISTORY
An initiation at some of the chapters of being shut in coffins, this appears controversial yet some have verified it as true.

It appears that anyone who is born again needs to seriously look into their involvement with fraternities or sororities which were heavily influenced by the Pagan roots of Ancient Greek culture secret initiations, oaths and mysticism.
