In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. (Genesis 1:1-5)
This actually happened. It happened the way the Bible records it happening. God created everything. With HIS VOICE!
Awesome.
Anyway, we read in 1 John 1:5, This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
God is light. He is unapproachable light. (1 Timothy 6:16).
I read a cute story in the Science section this week. You might have read it as well. It's this:
Human life begins with 'flash of light,' claim scientists
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
God is life. God is Light. God ordains all life, creates it, sustains it, numbers it, and calls it home.
Human life begins with a flash of Light. God is good.

A "flash of light" marks the beginning of life in humans, according to a study conducted by researchers from Northwestern University in Chicago. Scientists were able to capture in video the light or "fireworks" that break out when a human egg is activated by sperm, which mimics the process of conception. During fertilization, the amount of calcium in the egg increases, and the egg releases zinc. As the zinc is released, it bursts into light. This happens every time conception occurs. It makes sense that light accompanies life, as we read in John 1:1-3
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
God is life. God is Light. God ordains all life, creates it, sustains it, numbers it, and calls it home.

Hi Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteDo you think maybe we should change the word "The" for "Your" to get a better understanding of the Bible message and how it's written? It make an enormous difference. Try it and see what happens.
Geoff in South Africa.
No. No I don't. I think the Bible is written exactly the way the Holy Spirit wanted it written.
DeleteThank for this message. It is a lift in my spirit.
ReplyDeleteI have been researching light as it relates to the works of Satan in history and in the paranormal--not deep research into the Satanic, but more a look into how light has appeared in ways to draw people, both Christians and non-Christians into pursuing the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 12:10). For example, the light associated with UFOs--which I have concluded are a real, Satanic phenomenon--the so-called apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes and Fatima and other places, the appearance of light in the stories of various American Indian tribes, and so forth. And even now, in the phenomenon of bigfoot, various paranormalphiles are attempting to insert light into the subject--that is, that bigfoots have allegedly been observed disappearing or appearing in pops of light; and, a friend of mine wrote a book back in the 1970s in which he says that bigfoot-type creatures are the third most observed creatures around so-called landed, sparkly-lighted UFOs. (I believe that bigfoots are real, physical creatures, and yes, I believe they exist. My Dad's tribe has an extensive history of bigfoot encounters, from back in the Southeastern U.S., until now in Oklahoma. I think my Dad, if you take away the tribal superstition in the event, had an encounter with a bigfoot. They were frequently observed by tribal people in the area where my Dad grew up. The old people say that clan has moved on to southern Oklahoma.)
So your devotional about light in the creative and sustaining goodness and Word of God burst in my spirit like (excuse the mixing of metaphors) a cold drink of water. The words of He Lives ran through my mind. Thank you. And thank you for your comment to Geoff of South Africa.
You're welcome! I'm so glad it lifted your spirits! This makes me so spiritually happy.
