Does the Truth matter? Yes

Artist Michael D'Antuono was commissioned to do a work to unveil at the 100th Day of Obama's Presidency Celebration in NYC. This artist chose to depict President Obama as Jesus Christ. The painting's figure appears with arms outstretched, wearing a crown of thorns, and the painting's title is "The Truth." There is only one figure in history to have died like that: Jesus Christ. The artist's disingenuous sidestepping by asking "What's YOUR truth" and "interpretations vary" is just that, sly and disingenuous. Jesus had said in John 14:6 that "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but through Me."

The depicted figure in the painting stretching the curtains apart reminds one of the verse in Isaiah 54:2- "Enlarge the place of your tent; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings..."

The artist felt compelled to paint this subject matter because, "Aided by the media, politics has taken a nasty turn in the last decade and I firmly believe that this is one of the underlying causes of our nation's current problems." The artist at his site requests feedback. Shall we mobilize to give him some? We cannot let this pass, as Christians in good faith in knowledge of the ONE TRUTH and HIS HOLY NAME. I invite you to e-mail the host site where the painting will be located as well as to the artist (info below); post on your own individual websites or blogs; and to write letters to editors and other public places were civil concern or firm dismay would be appropriate.

Thank you for your time,
Elizabeth
