The reports indicated that Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has reached a secret understanding with the Obama administration over U.S. recognition of an independent Palestinian state. Such recognition would likely transform any Israeli presence across the Green Line, even in Jerusalem, into an illegal incursion to which the Palestinians would be entitled to engage in measures of self-defense. ... "It's a very dangerous move," said a senior Israeli foreign-policy official.
But let's back up a bit. The Gaza War was a three-week military conflict called Operation Cast Lead. It was a conflict between Israel and Hamas that took place in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel during the winter of 2008–2009. Soon after the war concluded, the Palestinians accused the Israelis of war crimes. The UN formed a task force to investigate these alleged crimes. Called the "United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict," an investigation ensued, and the upshot reported this week is that the UN concluded Israel DID in fact commit war crimes. The report in which these conclusions were made is called the Goldstone Report, after Justice Richard Goldstone, chief investigator of the task force.
The report stated that Israel used excessive force against Palestinians, that they deny Palestinians of their means of subsistence opportunities, that they disrespected the fundamental principle of “distinction” in international humanitarian law by specifically targeting civilians...and more. The reaction from the Sanhedrin regarding this report was instantaneous and firm. It was also biblical:
"Sanhedrin to UN: Goldstone Will Bring Judgment Upon You"
The Sanhedrin has warned the UN General Assembly not to hold a plenum debate this Wednesday on the anti-Israel Goldstone Report. In a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and the UN's member states, the Sanhedrin warns that continued consideration of what it calls the "hostile, fallacious, and malicious" Goldstone document will bring upon the world the catastrophic events described in the Bible's Book of Joel.
This is the section to which the Sanhedrin was referring- Joel 3:1-2 (NASB)
The Nations Will Be JudgedBack in July, EU top diplomat Javier Solana essentially said, let's cut through the red tape, quit the talk, and walk the walk. How about creating a Palestinian State! "The United Nations Security Council should "proclaim the adoption of the two-state solution. . . . accept the Palestinian state as a full member of the UN and set a calendar for implementation" Solana said. This is the ultimate 'Just do it!' Heretofore the notion of a Palestinian State had always been tied to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. What Solana did was remove the two-state idea from any kind of organized process, float the idea that a solution could simply be forced, and exclude Israel from participation. And the newly released Goldstone report may give the UN grounds to 'punish' Israel for their "war crimes" by rewarding the Palestinians with Israeli land.
"For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
I will gather all the nations
And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat
Then I will enter into judgment with them there
On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
And they have divided up My land.
Israel lovers were shocked at Solana's proposal, the few who heard about it in the US, no thanks to the American mainstream media who never reports on anything outside the Beltway. But it seemed to sink fast. Until now. It seems that since July Obama may have taken the idea to heart. Reports are leaking today that Obama may have cut a secret deal to create and impose this Palestinian State!
The 'Senior Israeli Policy Official' is right, it is a very dangerous move to create a Palestinian state. Any person or nation who carves up Israel is under threat of severe judgment! God takes it very seriously when humans seek to take away from Him what He rightfully gave to His people. God also said in Genesis 12:3a that "And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse." He promised judgment and judgment will surely come.
The Goldstone Report may become the final catalyst to steal land rightfully set aside by the God of the Universe for His purposes and give it to Esau's people. We do not know if this is the time which Israel endures the ultimate indignity - divided land - but we know it eventually DOES happen. Joel prophesied that God's wrath rains down on the nations who "divided up My land." That promise is prophecy, in other words, future news. But note that the phrase 'divided up' is in the past tense. At some point, Israel does get divided and the jackals grin. Their grins will not last, but for now, pray for the peace of Israel, and keep looking up! Our redemption draws nigh!
