The bible warns against riotous living and it shows what happens when engaging in riotous living. It also warns that the time of the end will be characterized almost totally by riotous living, partying so hard the people will be oblivious to the Lord's clarion calls to repentance. "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. (Mt 24:37-39.) God sends storms and earthquakes and tossing seas and signs and perplexing things and fearful events. And still they party. Repent? No. Party? Yes.
Isaiah foretold, "The new wine fails, the vine languishes, All the merry-hearted sigh." ( Is 24:7). Isaiah is speaking of vain merriment. When sinners place all their attention on the vain pleasures of this world, only destruction awaits. Yet, as the world spins faster as it winds down to the end of time, people are eating and drinking, making merry, oblivious to impending doom. (Above, partiers at Burning Man) In Italy, youth have discovered something that US college frat boys have known all along: binge-drinking: Pressures mount as binge-drinking hits Italy "Gone midnight on the last Saturday in summer and the young people in the square drinking cocktails and beer slur as they chant: "Happy birthday, son of a b---h..."An unremarkable sight in northern European countries like Britain, it's becoming familiar in Milan as an Italian tradition of touching wine only at meals caves in to the power of binge-drinking."
The issue of drinking and merriment in these end days is not solely a US or Italy problem. It is worldwide. So many people are bound with cords to the railroad tracks, never hearing the train bearing down on them. (Left, Lady Gaga) Never knowing that simple repentance will loosen the bonds keeping them in the track of destruction. Pray that those who are in the world now will see, feel, and respond to the Lord's calls to repent. His signs are many, for He is long-sufferingly patient. But He will not send signs forever. The day will come, soon, I think, when God will end the signs and the Church Age saints will be gone. Tribulation will arrive..."and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be." Tribulation will arrive...and then the real trouble begins. I hear the train a-comin'!
