Updated to reflect thousands, not hundreds of birds confirmed
Updated again to include link to millions of dead fish washing up in Norway

Pretty spooky... remember aflockalypse last year? It's ba-ack!

Fox News reports-
Hundreds of Dead Birds Fall from Sky in Town For Second New Year's Eve in a Row
"Blackbirds have fallen dead from the sky in a central Arkansas town for the second New Year's Eve in a row. KATV showed a radar image that it said showed a large mass over Beebe a few hours before midnight Saturday. The Little Rock television station reported that hundreds of birds had died. Beebe animal control worker Hearst Taylor told KATV the reason for the bird deaths isn't yet known. Last year, fireworks were blamed for the deaths of thousands of birds. It wasn't immediately clear if year-end celebrations are again to blame. Beebe police imposed an impromptu fireworks ban Saturday night. Biologists said last year's kill was caused by the birds being rousted from their roosts and flying into homes, cars, telephone poles and each other."

ABC reports-
Dead Blackbirds Fall Again in Ark. Town
"Thousands of dead blackbirds rained down on a town in central Arkansas last New Year's Eve after revelers set off fireworks that spooked them from their roost, and officials were reporting a similar occurrence Saturday as 2012 approached. Police in Beebe said dozens of blackbirds had fallen dead, prompting officers to ban residents from shooting fireworks Saturday night. It wasn't immediately clear if fireworks were again to blame, but authorities weren't taking a chance."

  1. Heeere we go again! Reading your last post is really driving it home for me that I need to really be focused on The Lord as doomsday rhetoric that is completely devoid of the truth of God's word reaches a fevering pitch. The church's focus should be drawing closer to Christ and spreading the gospel of Hope and salvation because people will REALLY need to hear it.

Interestingly enough, my brother showed me something about a web bot project this morning. I knew he saw it on the history channel because they have been having a marathon about doomsday prophecies/scenarious. It's absolutely awful and makes it more obvious that the evil one wants fear rampant this coming year.

Here's what he showed me: http://alamongordo.com/general/webbot-prophecies-2011-2012/

All I could say to him was that only God knows and that no matter what happens God is in control. I wanted to ask how you think we should respond to people that will be talking about 2012 doomsday events/prophecies? I sometimes want to bring up bible prophecy but there's just so much information. People are going to be on edge and I want to make the best opportunity of it and point them to Jesus Christ.

  2. Hi Debbie,

Yup, you have to so right, end time rhetoric is ramping up but little of it is based on Jesus. Harold Camping, Mayans, Hopi propesies, IChing, webbot...there are literally thousands of prophesies that people put stock on but go to great lengths to exclude Jesus's prophesies, which HAVE come true!

In Got Questions addressing of the Mayan issue here http://www.gotquestions.org/2012-Mayan-prophecy.html

they said "It would seem very inconsistent of God to allow the Mayans to discover such an amazing truth while keeping the many Old Testament prophets ignorant of the timing of the events." So true, isn't it?! Or, maybe, people think the Mayans know more than God?

So people who put stock in the Mayan prophecy put stock in prophecy. I'd ask the person to then take a look at Jesus's prophecies, if they are so interested in prophecy after all.

This page has a good list of prophecies to show the unbeliever about the integrity of Jesus's foretelling, with the past prophecy and the fulfillment put side by side.

    http://carm.org/prophecy-bible-and-jesus

For example, did you know that in Israel there were two towns named Bethlehem? One in the north in Nazareth in Zebulun territory, and one in the south near Jerusalem? Micah's prophecy of the son of man being born in Bethlehem went so far as to identify *which* Bethlehem!!

I'd just ask them to take a look, and to share why, in their opinion, a prophecy like the Mayans has more integrity than Jesus's.

  3. The blackbird thing is weird because Paul McCartney once wrote a song called "Blackbird" and it was written about Little Rock, Arkansas, which is just a few miles from this event has happened two years in a row. I wrote a little about it also, this morning.
