Now this is just plain evil. Not to mention ugly

Catholic News Service reported last year,

Giving new life to a Vatican sculpture
"Rome’s unseasonably warm weather is giving the Vatican time to erect scaffolding and start a serious cleaning of Pericle Fazzini’s sculpture, “The Resurrection.” Work began today on the piece, which towers over the stage in the Vatican’s Paul VI audience hall. Since it’s plenty warm enough to hold the pope’s weekly general audience outdoors, visitors won’t even notice. The sculpture, dedicated in 1977, is almost 66 feet wide and more than 23 feet tall. According to L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, the bronze piece weighs about 15 tons. It depicts Christ “rising from a tomb in the Garden of Olives, while the earth is shaken by an enormous storm.” During the work — in case the weather does turn cold — a tarp with a reproduction of the sculpture will hang over the scaffolding, so the audience hall still can be used. The work is expected to be completed in early December."

The depiction is of Jesus emerging out of an atomic bomb crater with resurrected souls. You can read more about the sculptor and the sculpture here in the NY Times Obituary of him. His name was Pericle Fazzini. He died in 1987.

"Pericle Fazzini, the sculptor whose monumental statue ''The Resurrection'' is the backdrop for Pope John Paul II's weekly general audiences, died today. He was 74 years old. The sculptor, a native of Grottammare on the eastern Italian coast, began his career as an exponent of the Roman school of the 1930's. His early wooden pieces, characterized by their simple style, led to the starker later figures, which he fashioned almost exclusively in metal, particularly bronze."

"The Vatican commissioned Mr. Fazzini to provide a work for its modern auditorium. The result was ''The Resurrection,'' a statue depicting Jesus rising from a nuclear bomb crater."

''Suddenly there came to me the idea of Christ preaching peace for 2,000 years, and the place where He prayed for the last time: the olive grove of Gethsemane,'' said Mr. Fazzini in a book about the work. ''I had the idea of depicting Christ as if He were rising again from the explosion of this large olive grove, peaceful site of His last prayers. Christ rises from this crater torn open by a nuclear bomb; an atrocious explosion, a vortex of violence and energy.'''
''The Resurrection'' is molded in red bronze and yellow brass and measures 66 feet by 23 feet by 10 feet.

"It was unveiled by Pope Paul VI in 1977 and dominates the stage of the Vatican hall where the pope's general audiences are held. Among Mr. Fazzini's works is the bronze ''Sybil'' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and a giant sculpture of a sea shell commissioned by the City of Dallas. Mr. Fazzini is survived by his wife, Anita, and a daughter."

You wonder what goes through a man's mind to come up with a horrifyingly evil looking depiction such as that. Remember, Catholics adhere to doctrines and traditions that are not biblical so the likelihood exists that Fazzini was not saved and therefore had a blinded, depraved mind. (2 Corinthians 4:4; John 12:40). It seems evident that he could not rightly see Christ, (Mark 4:12) nor could the Pope that commissioned it nor the Popes that sit before it. Here is a very short news piece about the sculpture.

Imagine sitting in front of that evilly horrific sculpture week after week conducting 'religious' services, with a serpent-looking Christ coming out of a man-made bomb crater carrying sooty souls. Images are important. The scene speaks volumes.

  1. The christ which rises out of the ashes of a nuclear crater is the anti-christ. The same anti-christ that the RCC follows. Interesting timing though.

  2. Someone emailed me with a scripture that they thought was apt. I paste the verses here, they do go with this article so well. I used the KJV because the language is so poetic

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
    Psalm 101:3-4.

    1. I would like to ask you to define wicked. I would not see this sculpture as wicked at all. Ugly perhaps, but not wicked. It is a representation of Jesus, and good, triumphing and rising even after the ugliness of war which mankind has cast upon itself. This is a representation of the goodness that can never be conquered no matter what evil transpires upon the earth.

    2. In answer to your question anonymous, Theopedia defines wicked as "departure from the rules of the divine law; evil disposition or practices; immorality; crime; sin; sinfulness; corrupt manners. Wickedness generally signifies evil practices."

As for the art appreciation, in my opinion it is wicked AND ugly. Because beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I can't define why the sculpture fails a reasonable standard of appropriateness, and I certainly would not install it in my church. But I know depravity when I see it.

  3. It's an Abomination, dedicated to The A/C's soon arrival. Wouldn't like to be in the Pope's shoes...

    Rebecca Bonnell x

  4. Not exactly. It shows the true nature of the Gods, as it resembles a reptilian head. Think again.

    1. Anonymous, there are no 'gods' but only one True God.

Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.” 5For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”— 6yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. (1 Corinthians 8:4-6)

    2. The Old Gods are no more real than the New One God. Its kinda oxymoron to say a bunch of gods are fake. Due to simply having no real strength in that, just your belief. When you believe in an Entity that has yet to be disproved or proven to exist.

    3. Hi Anonymous,

I know when you're a non-believer that it seems like all the gods are the same. I thought that way too. But in fact, the earth, planets, universe proves God exists. The creation. And all people know He does, they just suppress this truth in their sin. (Romans 1:18-19). That means that instinctively, you already know this. There is one True God. He has prepared an afterlife for all people, one where they will be eternally punished for their crimes against Him, and another where they will be blessed because they believed in His resurrected Son, Jesus.

  5. well said Elizabeth, hard to believe there is someone trying to stick up for this most awful looking abomination. Sick, people. Just plain sick is what it is.

  6. People who are anti-Catholic make me sick.. we worship the same you guys do you guys are bigots for judging me and my religion. "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." John 8:7

    1. Hi Anonymous,

I'm sorry to say that Catholicism has many aberrant doctrines that are contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote,

"For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough." (2 Corinthians 11:4).

The Pope is not the substitute of Jesus on earth (Vicar of Christ means substitute of Christ), indulgences, Mary worship, works salvation, infant regeneration, priest absolution...none are biblical.

I'm sorry you're angry...but I plead with you to look into these things, before your eternal destiny is sealed. You do not worship the same as us, our path leads to life and yours, to death.

As for the verse about casting stones, that was not about testing the spirits and checking the doctrines. We are supposed to do that. The Bereans even checked Paul.

      1 Timothy 1:3
"As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer"

    2. Nothing you mentioned that is supposedly Catholic is even real. There is no Mary worship, I've never heard of infant regeneration and I'm confirmed, and for God's sake indulgences were dealt away with when a corrupted church was cleansed centuries ago. You act as though you know everything there is to know and no Catholic is a real Christian when the Catholic church is the original "universal" church as that's what the word means. Now you'll tell me Catholic means devil worshiping or some other lie.

    3. Hi Sorry,

Sadly, everything I mentioned is real. I'll address your thoughts first and then go back to the basics.

First Catholics worship Mary as Intercessor (Ave Maria) and also as Co-Redemptor along with Jesus. Pope Francis prayed to Mary in Lampedusa,

Infant regeneration is part of the CCC#1250 at the Vatican site:

Indulgences are real...and back. Pope Francis encouraged time off in purgatory if you follow his tweets. This was July 2013,

Yes catholics with a small 'c' means universal. The Catholic Church with a capital 'C' means the one true church according to them. According to Rome, anyone who is not a Catholic is cursed. (anathema).

The true issue is, what do Catholics believe? The RCC teaches its members that the Church is infallible, most pointedly identified in the Pope. Yet only Christ is infallible.

The RCC teaches its people that the source of truth is the bible AND its church tradition. Yet the bible is the only source of truth.

The RCC teaches its people that grace comes in man-initiated ritual (anointing of oil, eucharist, etc). Yet only the Spirit dispenses grace.

The RCC teaches that its priests are 'alter Christus' or 'another Christ" but Christ alone is Christ. In the same way, the Pope is not Christ's substitute on earth (vicar of Christ means Substitute of Christ).

The "original" universal church was not the Catholic church of Rome, but the ragtag bunch of followers converted at Pentecost in Jerusalem.

The true faith is one who believes in Jesus as having died for our sins, absorbing all God's wrath for them, and having died, was resurrected and sits at the right hand of the Father. It means we believe in Him through faith alone, by grace alone, by scripture alone, thru Christ alone and the glory of God alone. This is the biblical faith the 'c'atholic church is called to believe. It is the faith that the 'C'atholic church curses.

    4. AMEN, Brother
I could not have stated your Biblically-based argument any better.
      In Christ,

  7. What makes you think the vatican II antipope is Catholic? By being a heretic and apostate to Catholic teachings he automatically excommunicated himself from the RC Church. An apostate CANNOT be pope.

Martin Luther was a heretic and apostate. Protestantism is a watered down edited version of Catholicism, that's all. There would be no protestantism if it wasn't for the original true parent Religion of the Catholic faith that it was derived from.

You can either follow Gods law, or mans. The second vatican church of 1969 is entirely mans creation, and all of it's changes mimic the heresies and apostasies of lutherism and protestantism. So, before you condemn the current "church" in Rome, look a little closer at what made it that way.

"Sedevacantism" is the term that is currently being used to refer to the remnant of the Catholic Church today which does not recognize the antipope. (The "traditional Catholics".)

And stop with the "whoever is without sin" cop-out.

    Proverbs 27:6
Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

    Proverbs 29:5
Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet.

Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Trying to stone someone to death for sins is different than pointing out flaws in their beliefs and thinking. Using that logic, no one can tell you that you are wrong.

    1. ANonymous said, "Trying to stone someone to death for sins is different than pointing out flaws in their beliefs and thinking. Using that logic, no one can tell you that you are wrong. "

No, we use the bible to test what a man says and believes. We test all things, (1 Thess 5:21) and anyone whose teaching differs from the Gospel as presented in the bible, is a heretic, and cursed. (Gal 1:8-9). This includes Catholics, and especially popes.

  8. I think the statue is simply.... lovely. Exquisite in its purity. Like a soft feather wafting with the winds of a dewy glade. Splendid. Wonderous.

Actually it's a thinly veiled work of Satanic art crafted by and for Satan worshipers pretending to be followers of God.

  9. "You do not worship the same as us, our path leads to life and yours, to death." How can you ever say that to someone, if u were good, u would not say this, its like your bragging that non belivers of your faith will die, no good god would want this, no good being would want this, would want only a sect few to go on, everyone is equal, all beings of life.
Also the statue is an intereasting piece of art, tho is very creepy to have behind the pope

    1. Anonymous, it is because JESUS is good that I say this. HE said the way is narrow and few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14). Everyone is equal- in their sin and need to repent and believe the resurrected Jesus, King and God. Non-believers WILL die, it is up to believers to tell them to repent and believe on Jesus and be saved. God wants this. (Matthew 28:16-20)

  10. Well the first problem is that it states that the sculpture depicts “Christ rising from a tomb in the Garden of Olives, while the earth is shaken by an enormous storm...” As I recall, Christ is not IN a tomb - He LEFT the tomb empty and has arisen to Heaven. So who is this imposter.....? And why does half of his head look like a serpent?

This monstrosity is very disturbing on so many levels. The view from the back of this assembly hall shows the very overt depiction of a serpent, with the Pope's throne in the middle of the mouth between fangs.

I wonder how and why so many people can enter and not see this for what it is. VERY creepy!

  11. Has anyone else noticed that the statue seems to have damage to one side of the face? Does this not seem eerily similar to the mortal wound of the anti-Christ in Revelation 13:3..

    1. Crisj,
The head is half human and half serpent. It is not Jesus Christ rising from the ash like the mythical Phoenix. It is a mockery of the risen Christ. It is anti-Christ or, if you prefer, Lucifer. The hall is a serpent's head: Two reptile slit eyes of tiffany glass on either side; the lightening around the eyes are both serpent skin (on top) and snake skin (lower). The mouth houses the pope's seat between columns shaped like fangs. If you'd to see an image of this, then Google: Pope Paul VI Audience Hall then click images. scroll down until you find a wide-angle of the hall.

  12. I am appauled over this meeting hall and the horrific statue! I was born into the RCC, but I have been educating myself about the bible and the RCC. Just seeing such things associated with the Pope is atrocious. I also cannot come to terms with the religious and showmanship of the chuch.
They bible clearly states we are not to combine anything other religious practices to the church.I think if Jesus walked into a RCC he would surely say I have never known you.In fact Jesus would probably use the story of the rich man to them all and say, sell all you have and give it away, then following him!
Where did it comes from, that the Pope is the vicar of Jesus? How did they come up with , the pope is infallible? That seems so wrong!

  13. Let us come together as one in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Jesus I trust in you.

  14. I admire your knowledge Elizabeth Prada! You are very learned in this subject and I find your points have given me much to ponder. Thank you.
