Concluding thoughts on the US Presidential election

Once again our electoral process worked and the American people went to the polls and voted for their candidate. Donald J. Trump, and American businessman, author, and entrepreneur, was the winner over Democrat candidate Hillary R. Clinton.

Hillary Clinton has been deeply embedded in the political machine her entire life. She rose to notice and prominence as a young 27-year-old lawyer in 1974 when she was on a junior member of the House Judiciary Committee's temporary Impeachment Inquiry staff during the House of Representatives' investigation of Watergate. Subsequently, she was appointed the first female chair of the Legal Services Corporation in 1978 and became the first woman partner at Rose Law Firm in 1979. She has been First lady of Arkansas when her husband Bill Clinton was governor, First Lady of the United States when her husband was elected President, Senator for the State of New York, and Secretary of State.

Her public life has been one of constant rising success, all the way to November 7, 2016 when she nearly won the American presidency, but lost it instead.

As it is, Republican nominee Donald Trump, an outsider who has never held an elected position, was elected.

I've never seen the world accept a defeat laying down. I've seen what the world does when its plans are thwarted, especially when it had pinned its hopes on one who is as deeply embedded in it as Hillary Clinton is.

If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (John 15:19)

Friends, continue to pray.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

  1. I'm so thankful for you and for your blog. I stumbled on Michelle Lesley's blog several months ago and through that I found your blog and many others, as well as the Strange Fire conference. Let's just say it rocked my world! I have learned a lot but I'm confused as well. I, like many other women, am a product of a typical church. Little discernment, little focus on the attributes of God, lots of focus on self and of course.. it's all about the worship music. I didn't grow up in church but I have been in these types of churches for about 10 years now. So my issue is.. I'm terried. I'm working on learning the bible and more about discernment, but it's not an overnight process. I'm so afraid to say anything might or might not be true and I'm especially reluctant when it comes to God's goodness. Now that I see the error in the "genie in a bottle God" I am having a hard time leaning on any sorts of promises or saying with any certainty that God hears prayers, etc. Do you have any advice for me? I don't want to speak heresy but I also know that God is good and cares about his people. Is there anything specifically I could study to help me figure out how to know and speak correctly about who God is? Again, thank you for the work on your blog. Although this has been a viery difficult transition for me (and I've lost all my friends through it) I know that what I know now is truth. I'm so thankful the Lord led me to places that helped me see the error in my thinking!

    1. I'm SO proud of the Spirit when I hear/read testimonies like yours. The visible church is rife with false things but then I read your comment and it's heartening to see His work in a heart and mind like yours! I'm thrilled He has opened your eyes to see the false things and to cling to the truth. How wonderful. As to the specifics of your comment,

I'm working on learning the bible and more about discernment, but it's not an overnight process.
I'm glad you know that, because it isn't an overnight process. The Spirit will bring you along at His pace, but you can be diligent as well. See this article. http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/what-does-it-mean-to-seek-the-lord

I'm so afraid to say anything might or might not be true
It's good to be wary of speaking foolishly, un-cautiously, or hastily. We are accountable for every careless word we speak. Mt 12:36.

I am having a hard time leaning on any sorts of promises or saying with any certainty that God hears prayers
You CAN lean on is promises to you! He will be with you in all times, good and bad. He is our refuge, Psalm 46:1. He intercedes for us in heaven as our Priest! (Heb 7:25). And so much more. If you believe the word of God, believe the promises. The promises are solid, it's that in your past you've been sitting under people who twist the promises. The promises are not the problem, the twisting is. If you believe what the Bible records about Jesus sacrificing on the cross for us, enduring God's wrath for your sins and rising from the dead, you can believe the rest.

Do you have any advice for me?
Yes! RELY ON THE SPIRIT! He did not bring you this far to see the truth only to let you dwell in a neverland of uncertainty. As the verse above says Jesus lives to make intercession for us, the Spirit lives to point us to the truth. HE WILL do it. What you can do to aid the process, is as the article above says, pray, read your Bible, and ask for discernment and wisdom. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

When we think of asking God for things, we think of temporal things. And that is good, He is a good Father who gives good gifts. Mt 7:9-10 says, "For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. 9Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?…"

So you ask for your daily bread and it will be given. But also ask for the spiritual things- wisdom, discernment, strength in Him, etc.

Specifically study the Bible. Every day. Read it, just read it. As you go along the Spirit will raise certain verses above others and your mind will dwell on them. Be curious, dig deeper. Make time for Him in prayer, study, and purposeful living to pursue holiness, and the rest will fall into place. The Spirit is in you and with you. Jesus will never deny you, because He is in you and he cannot deny Himself. Let that be an encouragement!

  2. I voted for neither. I am curious as to whether or not you also consider Trump to be worldly?

    1. Yes, I consider Trump to be worldly. The Bible is clear that anyone not of Christ is of the world. I've said on Twitter during the campaign, that I personally believe Hillary would be a Queen Jezebel judgment on America, and Trump would be a King Saul judgment on America. My opinion. Either way, I see God continuing His already present judgment on America.

  3. Sorry, but I must disagree with you that Secretary Clinton rose on clouds of success. I have seen nothing in her life that I would consider successful. My own view is that God blessed the Christian people of American because she did not win the presidency. Thank you.

    1. Hi bloggerjim,

What I meant was, Hillary is successful according to the world's standards. She's been put up to high heights (and they ARE heights, no doubt about that) by satan, since she is one of his own.

I do respectfully disagree that the Lord is blessing the American people, however. If we look at the Romans 1 progression and the curses and judgments that come upon a nation, we are undergoing judgment. I don't think we can possibly say we're being blessed if we wholesale abort tens of millions of babies, destroy marriage, exalt the homosexual, and redefine gender- all things that Romans 1:18-32 say causes judgment on a nation.

My own feeling is, the Trump win will inflame the left and cause them to do something worse down the road. If Hillary had won, it'd be worse, also. Either way, I see a bad moon rising.
