What does pure wool look like?

As we look forward to the rapture and our instant translation from flesh to immortal (PTL!!) I read in the bible that the few times prophets were given a glimpse of the Lord in His Glory, their descriptions were similar.

Rev 1:14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire.

Daniel 7:9 "I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire.

Daniel 10:6 His body also was like beryl, his face had the appearance of lightning, his eyes were like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a tumult.

Revelation 2:18 "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this:Revelation 19:12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself

He sounds fearsome! Glorious! I can't wait to see Him! Meanwhile, I asked myself, "Self? What does pure wool look like, anyway?" And google helped me out.

Paul revealed the rapture about 20-30 years after Christ's ascension. The word 'mystery' here means hidden, not unfathomable.
"Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." (1 Corinthians 15:51-54)
The last trump is not the Trumpets in the Trumpet Judgments as outlined in Revelation 8:7 to Revelation 11:15. If you're confused about the trumpets, please read Jack Kelley's explanation here. If you are still having doubts about whether the rapture will occur before the Tribulation (it will) please recall the incident at Sodom and Gomorrah. Many interpret the events at Sodom as a literal event and at the same time, also as a future picture of the rapture. Sodom was a city about to be judged for its grievous sins. However, the righteous are taken away, and the angel who has come to do the smiting even says in verse 22 that he cannot do anything until Lot (the righteous one) arrives safely at his destination. 2 Peter 2:6 reminds us that the smiting of Sodom was for past sins and as an example of what will happen to the ungodly. Not the ungodly and the righteous mixed together, only the ungodly. Saved believers are not ungodly but are considered righteous (Rom 4:5). As the scene opens, we see Abraham reminding the LORD of his character and nature, that He would not judge the righteous. He began his argument when he learned about the city's upcoming judgment where his nephew Lot resides:
The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. Then Abraham approached Him and said: “Will You sweep away the righteous with the wicked? (Gen 18:22)
Abraham began his contention at 50 righteous people, 'would the LORD judge Sodom if 50 righteous people reside in it?' And got down to ten. The LORD said He would not smite the city if there were 10 righteous people found inside it, and though there were fewer than 10 found, He made a provision to have those few removed before the judgments began. The character and nature of God is to stand the righteous with Him but to judge the wicked. Church-age believers are not wicked but justified and equal in His sight, our sins forgotten. (Micah 7:19) When the tribulation begins, the saved (righteous) will be away and safely residing at our destination prior to the wrath and judgment.

In a moment we will all be changed. Think on that. At one moment, you could be sitting at your computer with a cup of coffee at your hand, reading this very entry and the next, hear a trumpet and a voice and before you can blink, BE WITH JESUS! How marvelous! Before Israel was back in the land there wasn't a possibility of being raptured yet, but now since they are, and since we are coming up on the end of the generation that saw these things come to pass...(Mt 24:34; Psalm 90:10) then...our Groom may be getting ready to collect us now. Even if it is next year or 2 years...it is still so close. We may very soon be seeing the Lord of pure white hair and eyes like lightning and and clothes as pure as the driven snow and hear His voice of a rushing tumult say to us "Welcome good and faithful servant, to this place!"

  1. You need to study some more. There will be no RAPTURE!! Christ appeared only ONCE to put away sin, after that, will be the judgement. When he comes back the second and LAST time..he will have put ALL enemies under his feet. There will be NO MORE CHANCES. Your evil and wrong to be giving people false hope.

  2. Paul said to encourage each other with knowledge of the blessed hope. "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thess 4:16-18.

Perhaps you are mixing up the Second Coming and the rapture. In the rapture as explained in Thessalonians and other verses, Jesus comes FOR us, calling us up. In the Second Coming, he comes back WITH us, and lands down on earth (Zechariah 14:3-5).

You're right, unbelievers will be judged (Rev 20:11-12) but believers will be rewarded (1Cor 3:15). Christians are not judged because our perfection in Him makes us without blame (Col 1:22)

Can you offer some verses that support your position? Thanks

  3. I love some of the verses you mentioned.

1 Thess 4:16-18 is indeed talking about the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Following the second coming there are 1000 years where the righteous will judge and look at the judgement books i.e. 'reign with Christ'(Rev 20:4).

After which the saints will come back to earth with Christ. The wicked will then be destroyed (Rev 20:11-15) and then the new earth will be set up on this current earth - this is what the Zech 14:3-5 passage is talking about. see also Rev 21:2-4 (where the new Jerusalem comes down FROM heaven to earth)

as for judgement - 2 Cor 5:10 says

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."

Not some but ALL. Both good and bad will be judged. Next 1 Peter 4:17 mentions not just how believers will be judged BUT they will be judged FIRST:

"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?"

But let us not fear for attorney (1 John 2:1 ) is also our Judge (John 5:22). He is on our side.

  4. I have a question...the bible says many times that the ones who go first are the teares...they all get taken first...having said that this would mean the mark of the beast would have to come first...how could the fallen get the mark if they are all gone... Jesus spoke of his coming saying first he would gather up the weeds, ( teares) and throw them in the fire then gather the wheat and put it in the barn....also how can he come like a thief if the mark is already in place...??? Also the bible says the first will be the last and the last will be the first...
soo...seems to me you would want to stick things out...the first ones to go are the least..in the kingdom...remember some of the saints get beheaded...they sure didn't go first...

    1. Hello,
You are mixing up different verses, several different concepts, and collapsing the timing of different events. Also, it helps to share the address of the verses to which you are referring so I can understand where you're at and better focus on your question.

If you care to share the verse addresses of concern to you, and maybe send one question at a time, then we can go forward.

Also, I recommend for your study purposes, BibleHub.com. If you go to each verse you're wondering about, and then go to the bottom of the page, several different commentaries are there which explain the verses.

I can recommend for your curiosity, John MacArthur's sermons at gty.org. Just go to the verse he is expositing and he explains things fully. He has preached on every verse in the New Testament. You will have all the answers to your questions there.

If you don't have time to spend on sermons, to spend a lot of time, then I recommend GotQuestions.org.

      God bless and Good luck.

  5. I lke your search on pure wool :)) I'd been meaning to look it up to get a glimpse in my mind of our saviour's hair. Thanks for that. Also to any who may be confused or afraid of endtimes/revelations or the return of Christ. I recommend "escapeallthesethings.com Tim McHydes years of Biblical studies on revelations will bring a clarity and peace to mind about end times." It surely did for me. All in All God promises to hide and always protect his children. He is our shepard and His sheep know his voice. Be blessed.

    1. thanks anonymous for reading and I'm glad this helped about the hair! I'm also glad you found peace from the man's website, though you and I know ultimately it's the word of God that gives peace.

I'm not a fan of his site, but as always, opinions differ and readers, use discernment

Personally I've found extreme comfort in John MacArthur's series on Genesis 1
      http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/scripture

      and his series on Revelation
      http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/scripture

The best book I ever read on the Tribulation/Revelation times was "Because the Time is Near," again by MacArthur. It slew me to the ground for love of Christ, to see his power, holiness and wrath as presented in Revelation, the way MacArthur drew out the scriptures.

    2. thank you Ms. Elizabeth. You are a gracious and precious blogger who knows how to rightly divide God Holy Word, just as he instructed us to in I Tim 2:15. You have responded like a Christian and that is so refreshing to see believers discuss their different understanding of the Scipturel

And to the anonymous writer, Be careful what you call God's children. She is not evil because you disagree with her understanding of Scipturel None of us are OMNISCIENT! We don't know everything that includes you and me. So, please don't call people evil. Name calling is not a sign of the Love of God anyway. God has saved us by his Grace and you would show the LOVE of God if you would apologize to Ms. Elizabeth openly since you called her that openly and ask God to forgive you for calling her in that.

The fruit of the Spirit of Love includes kindness, temperance, longsuffering, patience . . . . Let's show the world how to disagree in love. THE POINT IS GOD IS COMING BACK FOR HIS PEOPLE. BE READY AND DON'T BE ASHAMED AT HIS COMING!

By the way, I believe the Bible teaches a rapture for the Church and a 2nd coming too. But I do undertand that not all agree based on scriptures that they have looked at but "I ain't mad at nobody" excuse my grammar lol!! Mrs. Hickman (aka Mrs. "H")

  6. The picture you displayed of pure wool is incorrect. Also the verse in the NIV version have been changed to give readers the idea that your images like yours would be correct.. ITS NOT!

Let’s take the same passage from the oldest version of the Bible which is KING JAMES 1611 edition.
    Daniel 7:9
“¶ I beheld till the thrones were cast downe, and the Ancient of dayes did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the haire of his head like the pure wooll: his throne was like the fierie flame, and his wheeles as burning fire.”

    1611 King James Version (KJV)

If you google and search “sheep pure wool” You will get a better understanding. Be careful with these new Revised versions. They are confederate in hiding who the true Children of Israel are. Qam Yasharahla

    1. The photo of pure wool is pretty accurate. Here is another link to show what cleaned pure wool looks like, it's from an organic clothing site. https://www.cool-organic-clothing.com/pure-wool.html

The oldest version of the Bible is not the King James. It is the Codex Sinaiticus, bound manuscript written in the middle of the fourth century. It contains the earliest complete copy of the Christian New Testament in Greek. It is housed at the British Library. http://www.codexsinaiticus.org/en/

If you mean the oldest English version, it still isn't the KJV. It's the Geneva Bible, one of the most historically significant translations of the Bible into English, preceding the King James Version by 51 years. And it's a study Bible at that.

While the KJV is beautiful, its usefulness is being eclipsed by new versions, made necessary by the fact that the language in the KJV is antiquated and as language changes, meaning changes.

I agree that we need to be careful of the newer versions and translations. Translations can be done in word for word method, thought for thought, paraphrase, etc. This essay explains about the translation methods and which translation might be best for any particular person
