The Great Supper: You can eat, or you can be eaten

The culmination of the age of man ends with two great feasts. In one, believers will dine with the glorious King of all Kings!

"Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure"-for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are true words of God." (Revelation 19:6-9)

In the other, the dead on the earth after Armageddon will BE the supper...for vultures:

"Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.” And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh." (Revelation 19:17-21)

As always, our Gracious Lord leaves it up to you on which side you will end up. But there was some weird news today that made me think of those scriptures, and one other scripture I'll mention below. Here is the strange news

Birdwatchers are thrilled by huge flock of bald eagles spotted near Glenwood, Iowa
Motorists traveling on Iowa's Interstate 29 got to see a spectacular show of wildlife Monday. Dozens of bald eagles, by some counts over a hundred, filled the trees at the Pacific Junction Wildlife Area. Jim Deitchler of Glenwood was on hand with his camera. "This is unbelievable, totally unbelievable, I've never seen them like this before," he said. "We have a few nests in Mills County that are actually used every year but you don't see congregations like this in Mills County of bald eagles," said Jerad Getter of the Mills County Conservation Board. NBC." The Conservation Board guy said in the video below that eventually that he lost count at 150 eagles. Here is a MSNBC video:

It is not unusual for eagles to congregate. That is not the unusual thing about this article. According to Bald Eagle Info website,  "For people seeking to see bald eagles in large numbers, the greatest concentration occurs in mid October through December on the Chilkat river near Haines, Alaska. The salmon run attracts three to four thousand bald eagles, which gather along a four mile stretch of the river..."

So it is not unusual for eagles to gather. It IS unusual for eagles to gather in Glenwood Iowa. Glenwood IA is near Omaha Nebraska. The news story piqued my interest for two reasons. First, any time a person in authority says they are seeing something unbelievable that is within their field of expertise they've never seen before, I get interested. There are many such news stories these days.

Second, as I mentioned above, there is a scripture that came to my mind when I read the article and saw the MSNBC video. The Pharisees asked Jesus when the Kingdom would come, and where. He answered:

"And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together."

Eagles (other translations say vultures) will flock to where the prey is and they flock most to where there is easy prey. Jesus was saying that eagles will gather where the dead are- the wicked dead. Unless we each individually repent and are forgiven by Jesus, we are dead in our sins. (Colossians 2:13). Unless this nation which accepts and codifies homosexuality, abortion, greed, usury and other sins abhorrent to God, repents and is forgiven, we are a dead nation. That the eagles are gathering in the near geographic center of our fallen nation is symbolic of the famous line in Yeat's poem The Second Coming where he says the center will not hold. Yeats's poem is an occult one, but the opening lines are true for today's world:

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
    The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The center does not hold ... if it doesn't have Jesus. And the eagles are gathering, metaphorically, for the prophesied supper. Will you dine? Or will you be dined upon? Both suppers will happen. You decide.
