The Nephilim and the Fallen Angels: Part 1

There is a strange doctrine spoken of in the bible, in Genesis 6, and alluded to in several other places in the Old and the New Testaments. The doctrine is also prophesied to occur again in the last days. Strange as this one is, it behooves us to pursue doctrines in good faith, to learn what the Word may be saying to us. It involves the Fallen angels, women, and the Nephilim, their ungodly offspring.

That the fallen angels came to earth and mated with women, is a certainty in my interpretation, though others try to make it into what the scriptures say it's not but by so doing twist the scriptures to adhere to their pre-suppositions. I always take the plain meaning when it is presented. Here is what the verse says, you decide-
"And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose." (Genesis 6:1-2)

In the next verses God determined to destroy all living matter on the earth, except for Noah, who had found grace with the LORD.

Could it be? Fallen angels mated with women, took them, actually, and offspring were born? But angels can't have sex, you say. They cite Mark 12:25, or Matthew 22:30: "For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven." The verse says they do not marry, not that they cannot. Angels are eternal, and eternal beings have no need to make more of themselves. They're eternal. Unless they have an evil goal in mind, that is.

The Genesis verse continues, "There were giants [Nephilim] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart." (Genesis 6:4-5, NKJV)

The NIV and King James use Nephilim instead of "giants". Who were these "mighty men"? One was Goliath, a giant for sure, along with his brothers. (1 Samuel 14:4;2 Samuel 21:18-22 KJV). Og, King of Bashan was another. "For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his bedstead was an iron bedstead; it is in Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. Its length was nine cubits and its width four cubits by ordinary cubit." That means his bed was 18' X 8'. (Deuteronomy 3:11). Raphaim, from which their tribe was named, means giant, from the Hebrew Rapha.

The giants were on earth in the Land shown by God to Joshua. He and the 12 spies saw that the grape clusters were so large they had to be carried by two men (Numbers 13:13) and that the Anakites were there. Anak means long necked giant and in Deut 1:26-28 & 2:10-11 we learn that they were descended from the Rapha.

There are many other examples, but it seems that the fallen angels of the earliest days of humanity on earth, took women, and the women bore children who were hybrids, half human and half celestial. The women were killed in the flood and the angels who did this were rounded up and jailed in chains in the lowest abyss (Tartarus) until judgment (Jude 1:6) If you know your pagan religions, and later the Greek and Roman mythology, this factual event that the bible describes is represented in mythology of the 'gods' who came to earth and took women, producing half-celestial, half human hybrids, such as Hercules.
"The rout of the fallen angels", Illus to Milton's "Paradise Lost". By Wm. Blake
Some examples from Greek mythology are Antiope, the daughter of the Boeotian river god Asopus. Her beauty attracted Zeus, who, assuming the form of a satyr, took her by force. Zeus was busy, he also took Leda while disguised as a swan, and he took Semele as a smooth seducer. Zeus took Alcmene by transfiguring himself into the image of her husband. Zeus resorted to deception to get at Callisto. Callisto had taken a vow of chastity as one of the women who served Artemis, but He came to her disguised as Artemis, and when she let down her guard Zeus raped her. Zeus came to Danae as a shower of golden coins. Neptune took Aethra by force. The satyrs chased everyone.

In ancient mythology, the 'gods' who came down from the heavens could enchant, seduce, transfigure, and take all the women that they chose, who later bore hybrid children endowed with supernatural powers and who were giants. In mythology Hercules and Perseus are two examples. In the bible, these were Og, Goliath, Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, who were the children of Anak; and many others individuals and tribes of giants who were mighty men of renown. You see the parallels.

The Fallen angels under the direction of Satan attempted to corrupt the bloodline of the people whom Jesus said would spring forth the savior. They were successful enough so that by the time of the Flood, the intents of people's hearts was only evil, continually. Noah was perfect in his generations, meaning, his bloodline was untainted by the genetic corruption the fallen angels were wreaking. God judged all humans and all of the fallen angels who had done this, but spared Noah and the other 7 because they had found grace. The fallen angels didn't stop, though. After the Flood, there was a second infestation of the Nephilim, resulting progeny of the fallen angels and women whom they chose ("...and also after that" Gen 6:4). These tribes, several of which I mentioned above, were active in the Land until David. After David wiped out the last of them, this particular kind of assault on humanity seems to have sunk into the recesses of myth and cultural memory. Until, perhaps, the Tribulation.

There have been many books written on the subject. It seems to fascinate, and I admit it fascinates me too. I've written about the Nephilim and genetic modification here, and UFOs and the Nephilim here. Also about the Nephilim and vampires, here. Patrick Heron wrote a very good book, "The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse." At the link, you can read the introduction and the first chapter, buy the book, or download it on iTunes. Chuck Missler preached on it in a series, here.

I'll write part two next, in which I discuss the current vampire obsession, and examine whether it is related to the Nephilim after all. There are some scriptures in the New Testament that the Spirit gave me interesting and deeper insight into, and have investigated and which may well be alluding to the third irruption of these fallen angels and their progeny, the mighty men of old, men of renown. I'll share those with you next time for your consideration.

Comments

  1. I find this subject very compelling myself, and I love that series of Chuck Missler's preaching on the subject. This is timely, as recently my brother was mocked at (high) school by a fellow Christian student for believing in the Nephilim, and called him a heretic for believing in them. I sent my brother several of your posts and Chuck Missler's series, too. Great post!

  2. Great work Liz. The Nephilium are as real as you and I. Most folks miss out on so much because they cannot accept some of the 'mysticism' of the Bible.

Mind if I repost this? It's an excellent article.

  3. Thank you The Signs Daily! I appreciate it, and yes, re-post with link back. I am writing part two starting in about half an hour and will post that today. I hope you don't mind calling me Elizabeth...:)

  4. The topic of the nephilim has always been so interesting to me..I've heard more about it from people that study UFO's and all that stuff than from christians. There are supposedly skeletons with concave heads that have been found around the world that people believe were descendants of the nephilim. Only God knows if all that is true but thanks to you and Jack Kelley, I can learn more about them from a biblical perspective. Awesome post.

  5. Great post.
L.A. Marzulli and Steve Quayle have some great info as well.
I completely believe 100% that these "giants" existed, and it would not surprise me if they, once again, before Jesus's second coming, attempt to mingle and meddle in DNA again.
Also, I believe the Great Deception that is coming, may be of Aliens / or modern day Nephilim. They will appear to be friendly, here to help, and maybe offer things like knowledge, health, extended life, etc... all for the price of - maybe say - the mark of the beast?

  6. The book of Enoch talks about the Nephilim like they are vampires. Now I know the book of Enoch is NOT scripture, but since Jude quoted part of it, I felt this might add something to the conversation.

"And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones."

    Whatcha think about that ? ? ?

  7. Hello ANonymous,

I'm curious, cautiously, about the book of Enoch. It was not written by Enoch, but as you say, it was quoted by Jude, Jesus half brother. It gives a lot of information about The Watchers, the class of fallen ones who were supposed to be watching us, not mating with us, who left their first habitation as Jude says. I've read it and I think it informs the issue in a non-biblical way. Because it is not in the canon, I can't trust is as absolute truth, as I do the bible, but just as we look to non-biblical sources to fill out some gaps, such as Jospehus' histories, we can cautiously look to the Book of Enoch too.

  8. Wait so the Nephilim were again on the earth during David's day. How did he know he killed them all. Did their blood join the Jewish blood, since Israel took of the pagans for their wives and husbands?

What are the chances that any of us have Nephilim blood in us? This subject is creepy.

This is interesting. I can't wait to read part 3. Thank you Elizabeth.

  9. Hi Anonymous,

By Abraham's time there was a large population of Nephilim in the world again. Since the Nephilim were wiped out in the flood, apparently satan started up the mating program again for there to have been more from north to south. The spies saw the giants in the land in Numbers 13:33, where they were carrying the large grapes. That is why the spies were so fearful.

I believe that they were stamped out, and that their blood no longer lingers. There are some conspiracies that say that their blood does linger, something about a special Rh negative. I don't believe any of it. I believe Jesus blood saved me and saves anyone who calls on His name in faith for forgiveness. That is the only blood that matters :)

  11. As for the book of Enoch, I would be careful too.
It appears Enoch I is pretty legit... but beyond that (referring to II and III) I wouldn't hold too much to.
I think it was quoted in Jude (Enoch 1) because although not "Holy Spirit inspired," it was good, trusted documentation... just like the writings of Joshephus, etc...

  12. Excellent article! I will move on to part 2 after making a few comments; I agree with the assertions made here and can corroborate them by my own research in the Word. It's interesting that when addressing the aspect of DANIEL Ch. 2, where the toes are mentioned - part of iron and part of clay, it says "they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men" The "they" must be something other than man, otherwise it would be redundant to a point (humanity has been mingling with humanity ever since Adam and Eve) - since DAN. 2 is yet future, this substantiates that the nephilim will likely make a re-emergence in the last days. The word "mingle" can mean to "twine" or "intertwine" and here I think about the double helix of the genetic code. A rather interesting supposition if I say so myself.
Another point: angels are able to transform themselves - into 'ghosts' or UFO 'aliens' or 'faeries', what have you (Dr.. Jaque Valle wrote some rather interesting books comparing the belief in faeries and their activities with those of modern day UFO shinanigans). If angels can transform, then perhaps the nephilim, their offspring, could utilize their spirits to in some way, transform their bodies - which would explain vampiric and were-beast legends that appear to permeate virtually every culture on the planet (most legends are cultural, thus regional, but these two legendary creatures are known among almost all people of this world - why?). Thank you for your efforts in writing these articles and this blog in general. I am grateful; may you be blessed in the Almighty Name of the LORD Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, MESSIAH of ISRAEL, and HEAD of the CHURCH!
