Pisgah Crater volcanic activity: DutchSinse vs. USGS and the rumble in the desert

I mentioned yesterday about the fight for truth in the secular world. I'd stated that the people know there is stuff going on, but the people who have access to the data or are otherwise in official capacities speak to the opposite of what we see and know. Or they deny completely what is going on, or they simply lie.

I've said a few times and shared the statements that the United States Geological Survey has said that there is no increase in earthquakes, then I used their data to show the opposite, earthquakes are regularly exceeding the USGS annual average. The same is true for volcanic activity. The US Government officials say we are in an economic recovery, or that TAARP has worked, when we can all see the economic outlook worsening by the day. Economist John Williams has made a career of showing the true economic data as compared to the information given to us by the General Accounting Office. I don't think that I'll get any argument that the value of the information being presented by official channels these days are usually tainted. It is wise to be skeptical in this day and age of any and all secular information we're given. Search these things out for yourself and be a wary and critical consumer of information.

But when you do search you get a mishmash. Who to trust?  Some people are simply crackpots. At the very least, most of us don't know how to correctly interpret a monetary chart, radar, or scientific data. That's why we leave it to the experts. Yet at the same time it was citizen journalists who spotted the Nabro eruption, revealed the false data in Climategate, and this week, made a claim of a volcanic venting in Southern California that even prompted a response by the USGS.

There is a YouTube man named DutchSinse who regularly posts information concerning weather, earthquakes, and volcanic activity. I've listened to him and I find that his approach is careful, measured, and best of all, he shows how he arrives at his conclusions. He doesn't make outrageous claims but instead puts forth conclusions reasonably based on what he sees from the data. This week he posted three videos showing data to support his claim that there has been volcanic venting at an ancient volcano in the southern California desert, Pisgah.

Pisgah Crater is located between Barstow and Needles CA about 2.5 miles from I-40. It borders the Mojave National Preserve. The Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program says the crater and attendant lava beds are from the Holocene Era which according to secular scientists is a geologic era that began about 11,000 years ago and continues to this day. Its last known eruption is unknown.

In his first two of videos from Sunday July 24 he shows a Nexrad radar of the area with what looks to be a stationary plume of moisture emerging from ground level and hovering for hours before dissipating. He mused that it was volcanic venting.

The next day on the 25th of July DutchSinse posted another video showing the same thing. Dutch moved his audience through his thought process and showed us step by step how and why he had come to the conclusion the volcano was venting. He sent the video and his findings to the USGS. In response, the USGS issued a press release denying that was what was going on.

What I found interesting about the press release was that they didn't deny something was going on, they simply stated that Dutch had misinterpreted that data. Here is the press release:

"BARSTOW • A YouTube user who claimed to have discovered a volcanic eruption in the Mojave Desert over the weekend was mistaken, U.S. Geological Survey officials said Monday. A YouTube video posted Saturday evening displayed radar images and Google Earth maps as a narrator described what he believed to be evidence of a volcanic eruption over Pisgah Crater, a young volcanic cylinder cone between Barstow and Needles about 2.5 miles south of Interstate 40. “There was no indication of a volcanic eruption on that date and time, and nor is there one brewing today,” USGS spokeswoman Clarice Ransom said.Dr. John Eichelberger, program coordinator of volcano hazards for USGS, said the video didn’t appear to be a hoax, but rather a misinterpretation of the data."

Now, I find this fascinating for many reasons. Dutch has a Youtube channel and a website complete with blog, images, and video. But his name is nowhere to be found. So a United States Government Agency found it necessary to respond to the information from an anonymous guy putting out a few videos. I find that extraordinary. It is telling that citizen journalists have made such an impact that the official channels of information react knee-jerk with immediate denials.

Equally interesting is that the USGS referred to data but only said it was not interpreted correctly. However the USGS failed to interpret it for us. They did not tell us what it meant. They admitted there was data, and that there is an interpretation to be made. What it is though, the USGS stopped short of revealing. And therein lay the problem: in any information vacuum, people will fill it in with their own ideas. In some cases like DutchSinse, they will come to reasonable conclusions. In others they will be off the wall.

The next day, by the way, Dutch posted a third video showing what he interpreted to be venting for the third day in a row. It was then that he said he felt 100% certain that what we were seeing is volcanic activity near the Mojave, notwithstanding the USGS denial of his interpretation (but not his data).

People are clamoring for truth to make sense of what is happening all around us. Context and solid information helps us feel less anxious. Recall the Fireside Chats from President Roosevelt during the Depression. Those chats either contained authoritative information or were simply Presidential encouragement to help the people through a dark time- the Depression. We needed to know the officials were "on it", were "with us", and we were united in our goal to get through it with unity and dignity. We don't get that any more. All we get from the people in charge are denials and lies.

As to the immediate point, whether Pisgah is about to erupt or not, I don't know. Dutch made a good point when he said it was not military, it wasn't cloud cover, nor was it a brush fire. It was moisture in the hottest part of the desert, stationary to that location, and from the ground. Brush fires move. Clouds move. This didn't. If it wasn't venting, what was it? It is not far-fetched to wonder if the volcano will erupt at some point, I mean, Nabro in Eritrea recently did, and that was a volcano that had never erupted. Again, that was an event spotted by amateur radar and satellite aficionados. Chaiten in Chile erupted fairly suddenly, and that volcano had not erupted in 9500 years. From the bible we know that the earth will act in increasingly aberrant ways with earthquakes, super-hail, volcanic eruptions, and more. (Rev 6. I believe that the Revelation verse noting the sun went black as sackcloth is from volcanic ash blanketing the sun's rays. More here.)

Now to the main point. The end time will be rife with falsity, the bible tells us. In terms of the Gospel, there will be false doctrines, false teachers, false prophets, liars, and seducers. (2 Peter 2; 1 Tim 4:1; 2 Tim 3:8). In the secular world we are told that men will be boasters, slanderers, lovers of themselves, traitors- all conditions that at their root have a lie at the center. (2 Tim 3:1-5). In other words, in both the secular and the Christian world, the truth will be harder and harder to find. As the world veers inexorably toward falsity, it will culminate during the Tribulation with "THE Lie". (2 Thess 2:11). Though the lie is not defined in the Thessalonians verses, many people (myself included) believe this to be the lie that the man who appears in the Tribulation is Messiah. They did not receive Jesus when He came, and but they will accept another. (John 5:43). Truth will be increasingly hard to find until the Tribulation when lies will be ALL that people will find.

As a Christian I urge one and all to be deep into your bible. We have to cling to Jesus and walk closely with Him to avoid being prey to religious fads, false doctrines, and wolves in sheep's clothing. Jesus is the only truth and as he revealed Himself to us in His word we must take it to heart and seriously study. We, being flesh, will and do often fall prey to lies. The flesh wants to believe lies but the Holy Spirit in us wants to regenerate us into His likeness. (Titus 3:5). An active prayer life, a close walk with Him and daily dying to flesh will go a long way to the Holy Spirit to grow us to righteousness and glory.

  1. I keep an eye on news and weatger, but I tell ya, it is HARD to know who to trust. I've been so disappointed with American media in the past couple years.

We drove through the Mojave, on I-40, on our way east from California. My in-laws live within two hours of there..

  3. I love you for posting on this! I was following this story last night too. Last night my hubby and I were watching Dutchsinse's Pigsah video along with some videos of storms he believes will be hitting the midwest.

I remember when I watched his videos a month or so ago, when he showed that the midwest was going to be hit with huge tornadoes. I couldn't believe how accurate he was. Of course, he believes that they were HAARP induced. Which I am not sure if you believe or not.

Gosh, I am not sure if I believe in HAARP. I have seen a lot of information that lends itself to the idea for it (Japan, Haiti, China, the tornadoes, etc.). But like you said, there is so much deception nowadays that I can't even trust my own opinion. I do not trust, however, the people who would say that HAARP is just for research and communication.

I do visit some Conspiracy sites, because I find links to stories that I won't find anywhere else. But most of the people sharing the information are in the dark about a lot too.

On another note, I have my own personal conspiracy theory that I wanted to share with you. It has to do with the terrible terrorism in Oslo. I found it strange that immediately after the shootings happened, the mainstream media was reporting that Breivik was a "Right Wing Conservative Christian, who hated illegal immigrants, Muslims, and loved hunting." Which is a stereotypical description of many people in America, who have been listed by NSA as a terror threat (Christian fundamenalists). Also, NSA just released a public service announcement video, that encourages Americans to snitch on people doing strange things. Saying that the greatest threat for terrorism is white Americans (I guess it is now politically correct to racially profile???).

Something just didn't make sense to me about this. Now I know that this is a stretch, but I don't think this guy is a Christian! Obviously he is not a true Christian, but I am wondering and this is CRAZY I know, if they promoted a false profile of this madman for political reasons. I also found some information that he was a high ranking Freemason. And I know that there are many nice Freemasons who have no clue about what it is all about, but I have read the writings of Albert Pike and I believe that the higher you go the more you realize that it is an occult organization, that worships the "light bearer," and desires to bring forth the New World Order. I have a photo of him in his Freemason uniform.

I do know that he wrote an anti-Muslim booklet, and he frequented some forums where he talked politics and supported the right wing side politically. But that doesn't mean that he was a Christian or that he wasn't a shill.

What do you think Elizabeth? Does this smell fishy to you? It is just so hard for me to trust the news who told me that they killed OBL, but refused to give me proof. Even if the story is true, they are trying to teach American citizens to "trust authority" instead of require proof.

In the end, I am grasping at straws, and I will probably never know. I just know that my liberal atheist associates are having a field day with the "Christian Extremist" idea. "Christians are evil" nowadays.

It is so important to be in the word and close to Jesus. Because His Word is the only thing that we can REALLY trust to be true. And we are getting a glimpse of how the early Christians must have felt, with all the false accusations and false teaching, imprisonment, and persecution. They were so brave and Spirit filled.

  4. Hi Anonymous,

I am in agreement with you that the Norwegian shooter's profile could well have been manipulated to accomplish a darker purpose. Look what happened immediately after Jared Lee Loughner shot and killed 6 people and injured 14 others including US Rep Gabrielle Giffords. The media immediately called him a right-wing fundamentalist, with some media inserting "Christian" in there for good measure. But his writings were released and it soon became apparent that Loughner was simply crazy with political objections all over the map. EVEN THEN the media still insisted on the fundamentalist connection, despite evidence to the contrary.

Here is a link to a web page that has screen shots showing that the Norwegian man's facebook page was deliberately altered to show he had Christian roots and fundamentalist motivations:

    http://macsmind.com/wordpress/2011/07/23/anders-behring-breivik-a-rightwing-christian-fundamentalist-likely-not-and-who-doctored-his-facebook-page/

    and the original story `here

    http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2011/07/who-added-christian-and-conservative-to-norway-shooters-facebook-page-yesterday.html

So yes, it is not only possible but probably given the evidence surfacing already that the Norway shooter's profile is faked to give a false impression of Christianity or at least, conservatism.

I don't get hung up on HAARP or other conspiracies because ultimately we are so close to the last conspiracy (Antichrist is Messiah) that they are kind of pointless. We are told in the bible that the last days will be full of deception. There comes a point when there are so many lies that it takes too much time away from good and profitable things to try and sort them out. These kind of things are just one more sign of how close we are.

  5. PS: I'm pretty sure Osama Bin Laden is dead.

  6. Thanks for those links Elizabeth. That is very very interesting. And you are right, I forgot about Jared Loughner, but that is yet another one.

I think he is probably dead too, I just think the whole official story of what happened May 1 is so fishy. I was okay with the story until they dumped him into the sea. And then I was upset when they kept changing the "official story" about what happened. I don't know what happened with that. But I do know that the entire country believes a story based on "facts" that kept changing, without ever seeing any proof. I mean even photos could be faked. But a physical body in our custody would have been nice.

I believe he is probably dead, but I don't trust the media.

  7. This is a very interesting post. I've asked the people on the Volcano Blog I read what they know about it (it was on there that the first person 'discovered' Nabro). I'll post back when I get an answer or two from them. Some of the people there have access to some pretty impressive technology and I'm curious what they think it may be. I was at Mammoth Lakes, CA a few years ago and while my husband and I were standing there, enjoying the view of one of the lakes and all the dead trees, a forest ranger came up and posted a sign. We read it, I even took a photo of it! Told us that gases were being released that could kill us, so please be careful. (Not exact words - I'll have to find that photo) The whole eastern side of the Sierras seem to be volcanically active (lots of earthquakes in the area - a huge crack runs through the earth near Mammoth Lakes - have a photo of that, too.) Keep us posted on what you discover about this!

“Lurking – can you, or anyone else, tell us what is happening on this series of youtube videos?”

    Sure, that’s orographic lift.

The guy doing the video places a lot of emphasis on there not being a cloud in the sky, or that the sky is clear. He states this quite often and yet he is still mesmerized by the bloom on the Nexrad Radar. Nexrad, at about 3Ghz, detects water droplets. It’s a really good system too. It can detect droplets that are too small to be seen visually.

It’s too bad that he didn’t take a look at the water vapor satellite image while he was showing us the visual satellite to prove the lack of clouds.

Taking the timestamp from his video of the cloudless sky, and pulling both the visible and the water vapor image you will note that there is a rather fat atmospheric stream of water vapor passing through that area.

And… if you do a screen grab of the “plume” he is focused on, rotate the image so that the state boundaries line up and toss it in to Google Earth, you can see that the origin is right at Bullion Mountains… and just to the south east, is Hidalgo mountain. Both have similar contours, but only Bullion is shown in my overlay.

    Addendum.

If there was a volcano or volcanic activity going on there, USGS would be all over it like stink on hooey.

That would be a research bonanza and would lessen the need to ship geologists over to the Philippines or Indonesia just so they can get up close and personal with an erupting volcano. Even Alaska is dead right now. If there is any action they would be there making noise about it.

Careers are made by stuff like that.

  10. Elizabeth,
I would say that this man may have made some great observations, however it does seem as though as he is preoccupied with uncovering a conspiracy. He may well be a distraction. His motivations are unclear to me it does look as though he runs from one thing to the next. His comments and dialog give me concern as to where he himself is rooted in.

  11. HI Jeff,

I agree, his lucid observations are tinged with other statements about HAARP conspiracies and such. Who to trust? It brings us back to the question. I would have felt better if the USGS has made a more detailed statement than 'some internet guy has data but misinterpreted it. Please disperse...nothing to see here.' USGS is a government agency paid to interpret data on behalf of the public's education and safety. USGS took the trouble to respond, but they chose not to inform.

  12. He means well, but he is no expert and no educational background whatsoever..despite that he doesn't like being corrected.

  13. The original USGS statement was from a volcanologist. His expertise and experience was enough to know it was NOT volcanic, and he did not then speculate outside his field. An interpretation might have been made by NOAA meteorologists if they had been asked.

  14. Just one tiny problem... there really was no volcanic eruption...
