That s the question of the hour from the big thinkers. This article today from Space.com
Are Aliens Part of God's Plan, Too? Finding E.T. Could Change Religion Forever
"The discovery of intelligent aliens would be mind-blowing in many respects, but it could present a special dilemma for the world's religions, theologians pondering interstellar travel concepts said Saturday (Oct. 1). Christians, in particular, might take the news hardest, because the Christian belief system does not easily allow for other intelligent beings in the universe, Christian thinkers said at the 100 Year Starship Symposium, a meeting sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to discuss issues surrounding traveling to other stars. In other words, "Did Jesus die for Klingons too?" as philosophy professor Christian Weidemannof Germany's Ruhr-University Bochum titled his talk at a panel on the philosophical and religious considerations of visiting other worlds." more at link
A 'special dilemma'? LOL. 'Religious considerations of visiting other worlds?' "I come in peace. Take me to your pastor." ROFL
First of all, extra-terrestrials DO exist. Off- earth, intelligent life, having superior capabilities than humans, a higher intellect, and a raised vibration even, are all around us. They visit the earth every day. They are angels.
The article continues:
"Aliens and religion can still coexist"
"Weidemann, a self-described protestant Christian, suggested some possible solutions. Perhaps extraterrestrials aren't sinners, like humans, and therefore aren't in need of saving. However, the principle of mediocrity — the idea that your own example is most likely typical unless you have evidence to the contrary — casts doubt on this, he pointed out. "If there are extraterrestrial intelligent beings at all, it is safe to assume that most of them are sinners too," Weidemann said. "If so, did Jesus save them too? My position is no. If so, our position among intelligent beings in the universe would be very exceptional. "Another possibility is that God incarnated multiple times, sending a version of himself down to save each inhabited planet separately."
Oh, the tragedy of the lost Christians. Truly. GotQuestions answers the issue of aliens (non-angelic kind)
"So, what does the Bible say? The earth and mankind are unique in God's creation. Genesis 1 teaches that God created the earth before He even created the sun, the moon, or the stars. Acts 17:24, 26 states that “the God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands…he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.”
"Originally, mankind was without sin, and everything in the world was “very good” (Genesis 1:31). When the first man sinned (Genesis 3), the result was problems of all sorts, including sickness and death. Even though animals have no personal sin before God (they are not moral beings), they still suffer and die (Romans 8:19-22). Jesus Christ died to remove the punishment that we deserve for our sin. When He returns, He will undo the curse that has existed since Adam (Revelation 21–22). Note that Romans 8:19-22 states that all of creation eagerly waits for this time. It is important to also note that Christ came to die for mankind and that He died only once (Hebrews 7:27; 9:26-28; 10:10)."
"If all of creation now suffers under the curse, any life apart from the earth would also suffer. If, for the sake of argument, moral beings do exist on other planets, then they also suffer; and if not now, then someday they will surely suffer when everything passes away with a great noise and the elements melt with fervent heat (2 Peter 3:10). If they had never sinned, then God would be unjust in punishing them. But if they had sinned, and Christ could die only once (which He did on earth), then they are left in their sin, which would also be contrary to the character of God (2 Peter 3:9). This leaves us with an unsolvable paradox—unless, of course, there are no moral beings outside of the earth."
"What about non-moral and non-sentient life forms on other planets? Could algae or even dogs and cats be present on an unknown planet? Presumably so, and it would not do any real harm to any biblical text. But it would certainly prove problematic when trying answer questions like “Since all of creation suffers, what purpose would God have in creating non-moral and non-sentient creatures to suffer on distant planets?”
"In conclusion, the Bible gives us no reason to believe that there is life elsewhere in the universe. In fact, the Bible gives us several key reasons why there cannot be. Yes, there are many strange and unexplainable things that take place. There is no reason, though, to attribute these phenomena to aliens or UFOs. If there is a discernable cause to these supposed events, it is likely to be spiritual, and more specifically, demonic, in origin."

One other point, if aliens exist, then that can mean there is more than one way to heaven. But the Bible is very clear, there is only one way to heaven. No one comes to the Father except by Jesus.
ReplyDeleteBefore I got saved I was into the UFO thing. I now see it as a deception which keeps people away from the truth. It is a lie from Satan.
Rev. 12:15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
ReplyDeleteThis flood that is spoken of, could it be that it is a flood of lies? Has it not been the pattern of the enemy to come against the truth and to speak lies into the ears of men and woman since the beginning? Since Orson Wells released War of the Worlds did it not create deception and cause people to waver in their understanding in the truth. The astrological sign that was seen in the heavens on the 28th of September, Did nothing happen at all? How do you know? Remember that the red dragon was there to swallow up the child. Who is the Dragon? Who is the woman? Who is the child?
Who are you going to Believe?
Jeff, we are going to believe Jesus. Right?
ReplyDeleteIt well could be that the flood is a flood of lies. Other scriptures tells us that deception will be rampant, piled up to heaven actually, and the world will be like it was in the days of Noah- which we know were filled with lies, perversion, corruption and blasphemy.
The flood that comes out of the dragon's mouth could also be what flood is a symbol for, purification thru judgment.
The earth opening up its mouth could be symbolic or it could be literal, as the earth opened up and swallowed Korah and his rebellious men at the command of God.
The dragon is satan. The woman is Israel. The child is Jesus. You can watch, listen, or read an expository explanation in a sermon of these symbols here-
http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/66-43/the-war-of-the-ages-part-3
There is no life in outside of earth. God designed it that way. But since satan is powerful, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that he can create life in other planets in order to attack the Christian faith and deceive many people.
ReplyDeleteOf course it's a stretch to believe that satan can create life. He can't. He can only imitate. Satan is a created being and his sovereign is God. The conversation in Job 1 tells us that satan submits to God's limits on him.
ReplyDeleteSatan doesn't need extraterrestrial life to deceive us. He has the third of angels who followed him into evil to do that.
Yeah it's unbelievably easy to NOT stand on the word of God today. The popular thing is either to completely reject God and scoff or to accept him on twisted, delusional terms...a line is truly being drawn in the sand today. People that are not truly Children of God are siding with the world as a result of the intense hate against Christ and His word and those that are truly His children are standing stronger than ever on the word and are standing for Christ. I think this is what the apostasy we were told of is about. God is in control.
ReplyDeleteAlien deception in the last days--highly likely.
ReplyDeleteEven better, it could be the Antichrist's explanation for the disappearance of the Christians. The "aliens" (demons) would claim that they removed the religious people from the world so that there could finally be peace, or something to that effect, which you know they'd snap up like candy. It's exactly what they'd want to hear. It makes so much sense.
It makes more sense with an 'atheistic' Beast Empire. Less likely to occur if the Beast Empire is Islam, since I doubt many of them would believe in aliens (they wouldn't have to, since they're already so deceived). :)
Its a waste of a Universe to not but any other sentient creatures in it other than humans. Surely it makes mores ense to fill it with beings that can all sing God's glory. The bible couldn't discuss aliens as it was written for the people of the time so it doesn't mean they don't exist. Its wrong to beleive we are the centre of everything and its the sign of an immature spieces. If aliens do exist it doesn't affect my faith or the fact they have every chance of having faith?
ReplyDeleteThe bible couldn't discuss aliens? Why not? People had brains then, too. It could even be said that because there was no light pollution and the stars were brighter, and that there were no clocks and therefore they told time by the movements of the sun, moon, and stars, they were more savvy about the universe than we are, depending on it more fully and more personally for time, agriculture, travel, etc.
ReplyDeleteIt may or not be a waste of a universe in our opinion- but not in God's. He is the One who created it and manages it to this day. He made all the creatures on earth, He made humankind, and He made angels. We are not the center of everything, His people made to reflect the glory of Jesus. Jesus is the center of everything. An 'immature species'? Well, which other species has conscience, morals, and a relationship with God?
What? How were ancient people "more savvy about the universe than we are..."?
DeleteBeing able to understand change of seasons and direction by using stars as markers does not equal an understanding of the universe.
And astronomers of today with space travel and Hubble telescopes STILL do not understand much about the universe. Physicists don't even understand where gravity comes from or how it works. Only that it exists. Just like the ancients. Just because science is "modern" and they talk big, does not mean they have an understanding of how the universe works. LOL, they don't even know how many universes there are. Or where they are, IF they exist.
DeleteAnd you casually dismiss their knowledge of the universe for time, travel, and seasonal changes in agriculture. If we put you in a big field and said "grow stuff", or put you in Judea and said "go to Persia" I bet the outcome would be disappointing.
The main point is that ancient believers were savvy about the universe because they knew who created it and worshiped Him. They did not fall pray to the classic blunder-
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[g] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Romans 1:18-23
Yes they had brains and there were "scientists" even then but as they hadn't had the technology we have today they had never gazed down on a rotating planet so didn't understand about cosmology or that there might be other planets orbiting other stars let alone the possibility of life on them?
ReplyDeleteIm sure the lack of light pollution helped them understand the universe?
Surely finding evidence of intelligent life in the universe would only serve to magnify God's greatness, not demean it?
Jesus turned away no one so why would he turn away another intelligent life form?
if there was another life form outside the earth then that would demean religion to the point where religion wouldn't mean a thing to anyone;
DeleteAnonymous, there is another life form outside earth. Several, in fact. First, there is God. Second, there are the holy angels. Third, there are the unholy angels AKA demons.
DeleteI'll just refer you, Anonymous, back to the essay I'd quoted from at GotQuestions, which addresses the scriptural considerations of whether there are alien life forms off planet (besides angels) and what that would mean for Christianity.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.gotquestions.org/aliens-UFOs.html
I can't say that there is NO life on other planets (except angels) However the bible does not say that there is. It is likely not to be, due to inferring from scripture the following from an apologetics ministry:
"Let me propose some reasons why I believe there is no life on other planets. Now, I should tell you that these reasons are simply exercises in biblical theology."
"The Bible says there is one Trinitarian God. Jesus was God in flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9; Phil. 2:5-8), second person of the Trinity, and died for our sins (Rom. 5:8; 1 Pet. 2:24). If there were other beings on other planets that have sinned, then they would need a redeemer. God would have to die for them as well."
"Only God can forgive sins. Jesus is God in flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9), is forever a man (1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 7:17, 21) and died for the sins of people here on earth (Rom. 5:8). Therefore, I conclude that the only members left in the Trinity to die for the sins of another race would be the Father and the Holy Spirit. But this doesn't seem credible since the focus of the Trinitarian effort in this world has been for the Father to elect a people (Luke 18:7; Rom. 8:33), the Son to redeem them (John 6:39; 17:9,24; Rom. 5:8; 1 Pet. 2:24), and the Holy Spirit to fill, guide, and indwell them (Acts 4:29-31; John 16:13; Rom. 8:9-14). The focus of their effort has been this world and the redemption of mankind, not anywhere else."
"Second, if there were life on other planets, would it be possible that they never sinned and don't need a redeemer? I think this question can be answered by the Bible where it says that creation is groaning, waiting for its redemption at the return of Christ (Rom. 8:22). That would mean that all of creation was affected by the fall. When Adam sinned, the ground was cursed and death entered the world. If that is so, then any other beings out there that were made in God's image, would have fallen too since they would be part of creation.2 I don't see how they could escape the effect of the fall. They would be sinners too and need a redeemer. Then they would fall under the first objection above."
If you care to, you can read the rest at the link. :)
I did and I respect your views?
ReplyDeleteOut of interest are we talking about "original sin" here, as in the sin my children inherit the moment they are born? If so I will decline expressing any more views as I don't beleive in original sin and find it totaly abomination on the face of religion.
All children are born pure and we only "sin" as we get old enough to realise we are doing something against the will of God. The fact Adam sinned makes us all sinners I find ridiculous and its something as jumped upon by the Catholic faith years ago to make the church powerfull and should play no part in the aspect of a loving God.God is love and hence it makes no sense to beleive that aliens if they exist are damned to hell just because they are alien.
If you dont' believe in original sin, you don't believe in Jesus. If you don't believe in your own sin you don't believe in Jesus. If you don't believe your sin is a crime against a Holy God you are already condemned.
ReplyDeleteNo child is born pure. No, not one. (Romans 3:10). Ever see a baby throw peas on the floor even though you've said no? Sin.
Genesis chapter 3 records the fall of Adam and Eve, and with that fall, sin entered into the two previously sinless creatures that God had made. And when they, in turn, had children, their sin nature was passed along to their offspring. That sin nature immediately manifested itself in the very first man born from Adam and Eve, a man named Cain who became a murderer (Genesis 4:8). source here
http://www.gotquestions.org/sin-nature.html
People constantly try to deny that humanity is inherently sinful or ‘bad.’ However history has shown that the evil actions of humanity are one thing that is constant. Jesus is the remedy for our inborn sin nature, Him and Him alone.
As for children, I believe that Romans 7:9 teaches the doctrine of the age of accountability. That though children are born sinners, while they are too young to understand the concept of their own badness (compared to a HOLY HOLY HOLY God) that God does not apply the penalty toward them. It is similar to what we have here in our nation as per the juvenile court system.
The Catholic faith is a false religion. However, sin is real; mine, and yours. Please be sure to have repented of it before it is too late.
I beleive in the living Christ and that through accepting him I am assured a place in heaven BUT I don't beleive in original sin I'm afraid. I also don't think any religion has particularly affected mankinds morals as I think its almsot genetic to know its wrong to commit murder etc.
ReplyDeleteIf I die and God turns me away from paradise because I don't beleive in original sin I don't realy want to get in to be honest.
If we beleive in this then we are stating that every person born before Christ was condemned to Hell?
Are we saying that people who lived their lives decently and with love for their fellow man but has also never heard of christianity as a result will end up in Hell? surely this goes against the notion of a loving Creator? hence my first point - IF Aliens exist then I cannot see why they cannot share in Gods eternal love?
I'm sorry, but I don't understand how a person can believe in Jesus if they don't believe in original sin. If you don't believe you were born a sinner then what do you need Jesus to get into heaven for? And what did he die for?
ReplyDeleteYou asked, "Are we saying that people who lived their lives decently and with love for their fellow man but has also never heard of christianity as a result will end up in Hell? "
YES! Yes, that is what Jesus said. A "decent" life is the same as filthy rags to a Holy God. There is nothing in man to commend him to God.
A loving God would not set aside His own justice. God is loving, but He is holy. I offer to you this sermon from Nahum, "Who is God?"
http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/1213/who-is-god\
"The LORD is a jealous and avenging God;
the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath.
The LORD takes vengeance on his foes
and vents his wrath against his enemies.
3 The LORD is slow to anger but great in power;
the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished.
His way is in the whirlwind and the storm,
and clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebukes the sea and dries it up;
he makes all the rivers run dry.
Bashan and Carmel wither
and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.
5 The mountains quake before him
and the hills melt away.
The earth trembles at his presence,
the world and all who live in it.
6 Who can withstand his indignation?
Who can endure his fierce anger?
His wrath is poured out like fire;
the rocks are shattered before him." Nahum 1:2-6
The foes He takes His wrath out on are people who sin against Him. Many are destined for hell because they fail to understand Holiness against their own sin.
I do respect your obvious extreme knowledge of scripture but Im afraid I don't beleive in original sin but yes I do beleive in Jesus. I beleive he died for my sins, as in plural because as a human I am weak and prone to sin but I cannot see how being estranged from God makes me a sinner. In all honesty I don't realy beleive in hell either. I beleive that Hell is a place that is apart from God and the ability to see his light but I don't beleive in lakes of fire etc.
ReplyDeleteMy whole point was based on the original topic - as yes I do want to beleive that in this huge universe there are many many intelligent life forms and just because they haven't heard of Jesus makes them damned? just as much as all the billions of lives that went before the birth of the Christ puts them in a pit of burning sulphur for all eternity. And whilst Im digging this pit (or hell hole ) for myself for the record I don't beleive in the God you describe to me in the last section - the God of the old testament does just not fit in with my view of a loving God. How any God would destroy someone for stumbling and put his hand on the chariot that carried the Ark of the Covenant does not seem to fit in with the new Testament somehow?
I spent years going Church to be brain washed by others views and found they didn't fit in with what I beleived - I beleive in a person called Jesus who was God in the form of man so that he could truly find out what it was like to experience being one of his creation and that as God he died for my sins but these had nothing to do with original sin - which I don't beleive in full stop (but then again I also beleive in evolution and don't take Genesis literaly.
The God of the Old Testament is no different from the God in the New Testament. Read Revelation.
ReplyDeleteBut then, why do I recommend that you read Revelation when you do not believe Genesis, where the foundation of our faith is expressed, promised, and seen first? And it stands to reason that you will and have thrown out other sections of the bible which you want in your own sinfulness to allegorize, delete, or simply disbelieve. Where does your disbelief stop? You are not worshiping the Jesus of the bible, it is clear, but one you have remade in your image.
It is in Genesis 3 that God first promises our savior. But you said that you don't believe Genesis literally so by your words, you don't believe in original sin (and therefore your own sin-nature) nor the promise of Savior. You do not believe in God as unchanging from Old Testament to New (Hebrews 13:8)nor by His own word to punish the wicked in wrath, and you do not believe in Messiah to come and save us from Adam's original sin (Genesis 3:15) to finally vanquish sin once and for all.(1 Cor 15:57; Daniel 9:24)
Your beliefs are a good example of what Paul said would come:
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." (2 Timothy 4:3). You claim a Jesus that does not exist! Woe to you!
Hell is very real (all verses on hell, here--
http://www.biblebb.com/files/tniv/HELL.TXT
If you repent and believe on Holy and sinless Jesus as Savior from your sin you will be saved. His word is true. ALL OF IT: sin, wrath, heaven, hell, and judgment.
As for sin vs. holiness...you can have all our beliefs but the only thing that matters is what the bible says. THAT is the total truth that man seeks.
Can I ask though where Jesus actualy refers to original sin? as I was under the impression Paul first mentioned it in Romans? so surely if original sin is so important and is the basis for my eternal damnation and for the damnation of intelligent aliens out there in the cosmos why didn't God mention it earlier? I can't see why its been omitted for thousands of years - to be honest I sincerely beleive it was just another thing the early church pounced on in order to further their own ends - which had nothing to do with Gods love but mans need for greed and power through the use of religion.
ReplyDeleteAgain also one the question I asked prior relating to Jesus's doctrine on original sin, which I didn't think he mentioned?
ReplyDeleteBut also Hell as a place of torment is also a Man made thing - the bible refers to being "unseen" in the old testament, that was the definition of the word that is used but it never mentions a place of purgatory and pain for not beleiving and certainly not for having sin that you inherited from "Adam"
I can assure you I haven't created a version of Christ based on my own image and yes I don't take everything written in the bible literaly and i won't apologise for having my own views but I certainly respect yours.
I don't think the world is thousands of years old as some people claim but is in fact billions of years old. I know God loves me and I think he loves me even if I have my own take on certain aspects of things I have read and been taught over the years.
ps I am not arguing with you as I honestly appreciate your knowledge and intentions.
The teaching of the Catholic Church is false, though and through. What you learned there cannot be trusted. They have melded the bible with man's thoughts and traditions.
ReplyDeleteYou must understand that the bible is true, every word, but ONLY the bible is true. For example, Mary is the mother of God but the Catholic tradition says that not only is she the mother of God but was sinless and ascended into heaven before men, and is there now answering prayers. This is not true. They have added mans' vain imaginings to spotless truth.
it is true that many churches such as the Catholic church use their power to corrupt the truth for their own gain. It has been true from the beginning: Micah 3:9-12; 2 Peter 2:3
Jesus IS the word and therefore the entire bible is from Him, inspired by the Holy Spirit and approved by God. John 1:1-2: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." It is important that you believe that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," 2 Tim 3:16. Saying that large parts of the bible are not true is actually saying Jesus is a liar.
Adam's disobedience (Eve's too) caused their fall from perfect standing before God as sinless beings, to people who allowed disobedience into their relationship with God, corrupting it forever. Once a person has been disobedient, they can never take it back. It's like being a 'little bit' pregnant or 'sort of' an adulterer. You have committed the act, it is done, and it changes you forever. Even though your spouse may have forgiven you of the sin, the sin was still committed and you are still corrupted from it.
The term “original sin” deals with Adam’s sin of disobedience in eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and its effects upon the rest of the human race. Original sin can be defined as “that sin and its guilt that we all possess in God’s eyes as a direct result of Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden.” The doctrine of original sin focuses particularly on its effects on our nature and our standing before God, even before we are old enough to commit conscious sin.
Isaiah speaks of the effects of sin: "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear." (Is 59:2)
David knew that he was a sinner before he was born: "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me" Psalm 51:5.
Your own disbelief in original sin and therefore your own sin-nature since birth has led to you dispensing with large parts of the Holy Word, and see, that is where disbelief in Genesis leads. It gradually crumbles faith in the sure foundation and sets you upon a false foundation.
Genesis shows His power in creating the universe, it shows the perfect union of man and god, satan's corrupting influence, man's fall, and God's LOVE, by His promise of redemption. (Gen 1-3). His love was perfectly offered to us in the form of Jesus, manifesting as man to be that bridge between ourselves and the Father. If we but repent and believe!
The truth is that anyone who refuses to cross that bridge, going through Jesus as the way, the truth and the life, (John 14:6) will remember Isaiah's words of eternal separation, and be in hell forever, God's wrath upon him.
If you do not believe in original sin do you also thrown out anything David said in the Psalms? If you do not believe in hell do you also thrown out Isaiah?
The bible is a finely woven tapestry, each verse is a thread knitting together the redemption story of our magnificent Jesus from Genesis to Revelation. Picking it apart will only lead to your own faith unraveling...

these sermons will bless you. If you can't listen online or download to listen later let me know and I'll figure out a way for you to hear these important foundational teachings.
He is loving and sends the Holy Spirit to you to give understanding (James 1:5). He is drawing you into His loving arms by offering you a correct perspective of sin, hell, heaven, and redemption. Please pray to Him for wisdom to hear His word, whether you read it or whether you listen to it. DO read these things for yourself and don't just trust me. Search His truth for yourself too.

Thanks for the links,I have put them in my book marks and will probably download them so I can listen to them when driving work.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your kindness, and yes I may not agree with everything but I have an open mind and hope an open heart to God's word.
THANK YOU for asking! I praise the Lord who draws us all to Him, so that none may perish.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I completely reject your idea of "original" sin in the sense you describe it. Yes, the sins of the fathers are cast unto the children, but that's just a way of saying: "your foolish choices will affect your children" your idea of being BORN with sin indicates the sense that upon birth your condemed to hell and thalt even if you're a 3 year old child who knows nothing of god, if you dont repent and follow the ways of Christ, you will (if you die at the age of 3), spend all of eternity in hell. This is a rediculous notion, as children are a sign of "innocence" and "purity". It's even statedthat way in the Bible. And if ever you meet someone who wants to spend their life with you, and you have children, try telling them at the age of 2 that if they were to die today they will be damned to hell for all eternity. This comment has nothing to do with the subject, but it's extremist Christianity behaviour and views like yours that make the rest of the world look at the rest of us with scorn. And regardless of what the Bible says on that subject, I prefer it when people look at Christians and think: "Jeez, those guys are very caring. Not only do they try to help other people, but they also don't condemn and seek the destruction of people with opposing beliefs". What you're implying is that if your a newly born baby and you dont pray for your sins, you will face eternal damnation. Try telling the parents of stillborn children that their kids are in hell for being sinners. What I think the Bible means is that we are all born withTHE POTENTIAL of being ssinners, and that each choice we make affects that. Cain didn't know he was going to kill his brother. He wasn't BORN with that idea ingrained in his mind. IT WAS A CONCEOUS DECISION HE MADE LATER IN LIFE WHEN HE BECAME JEALOUSE OF GOD'S LOVE FOR HIS BROTHER.
ReplyDelete'Nuf said.
Anonymous, you can reject the doctrine of original sin imputed to every human all day long but that doesn't make it go away. We are all sinners from birth. Even from the womb.
DeleteThis pastor explains:
We all sinned in Adam and we all inherited not only the guilt of Adam's sin but the corruption of Adam's nature. And children are sinners, and we all know that sooner rather than later. The Bible is absolutely clear that all children are sinners from conception. The principle of iniquity is imbedded in their person. The idea somehow that people are born without corruption, without moral corruption without an irresistible bent toward evil, the notion that children are morally neutral, free from any predisposition to sin, but being influenced by sinners around them wind up falling into that course is against what Scripture says.
Scripture: 1 Kings 8:46, Psalm 58:3, Psalm 143:2, Proverbs 20:9, & Ecclesiastes 7:20 show us our sinful condition.
Now as to a child, children are sinful, but God is not a monster. He is just. If a baby or a child dies before they have the cognitive ability to claim Jesus and be aware of their own sin, that child goes to heaven. So no, I don't have to tell the parents of stillborn babies that their child is in hell. I can comfort them by telling them he is with Jesus. Though being sinful people, our JUST punishment IS hell, children inherit heaven. Read more here on the scriptural evidence why.

Wow your sick in your views. So your saying if you grew up in the jungle with no knowledge of you're so called God (granted your God is just a rip off of 16 known gods)you should go to hell?
ReplyDeleteYes, that is the truth I'm trying to get across. I'm glad you see it that way. Anonymous, you ALREADY know God, and you refuse Him. See what it says in Romans 1:18-20:
Delete"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."
You are without excuse. You see the world and its complexity and wonder deep down where it came from, and you suppress the truth: that God exists and He made it.
Romans 2:15 says you have a conscience, where'd that come from? God.
Ecclesiastes 3:15 says eternity is written in your heart. Also from God.
And, you came to this site and read stuff. You know, deep down, it's all true. You KNOW.
So, you stand condemned. YOU. CONDEMNED.
But it's not too late! All you have to do is understand you are a sinner, meaning, you do and say and thing bad things that go against God, and therefore you're not qualified to go to heaven when you die. But, if you are sorrowful for these sins, and ask Jesus to forgive you of them, He will.
I know it's all complicated seeming, but it's not. Pray to God, the real god, not the fake 16 others you mention, and ask Him to reveal what it's all about. Ask Him for help. He will help you. He will. He does not want you to go to hell. Not when He has made heaven within your reach, by sending His Son Jesus to live the perfectly holy life on earth, die as the sacrifice, and rise again to welcome you into His grace and forgiveness. That's the Gospel- Jesus lived the life you can't, and He will assign His perfect life to you if you ask, thus qualifying you for a place in His heaven.
Tell me what makes You right, and not the hundreds before you. You, are loving a God that doesn't exist. God ( not the Christian. Jew or muslim one) may exist but no jealous God does. Point blank a jealous, vengeful God had no place.
DeleteWhat makes *you* right? Who says God can't be jealous? BTW jealous in contxt doesn't mean he is jealous of you, or of something you have and He doesn't, lol. Jealous in the sense of possessive, He desires worship to come to Him only because He knows He is good and the only good. Worshiping one of the fake 16 other gods you mentioned is bad for His children. Jealous like you're jealous (possessive) for your daughter when boys come calling.
DeleteYou betcha, He hates sin and He hates what sin has done to the perfect world He created. Wouldn't you? And who are you to say what He can or cannot be like? He told us what He's like, in the bible. However, you're not saved so you can't understand it. If you repent and ask Him to forgive your sins, He will and then the fun starts. You're freed from bondage to satan (your current overlord), you're welcomed to the brotherhood of saints, the Spirit will help you resist sin and help you understand the bible, which is God's word, and when you die, you'll go to heaven to be with the Savior.
But is all starts with you and your willingness to acknowledge and confront your sin
Can I also ask you... You grew up in a dogma household right? The first time u went to church was is someone else that took you or did u feel this fake force pulling u there ? Your God doesn't like lies remember.
ReplyDeleteWrong. I grew up with an atheist father who told us every day there was no God. The first time I went to church was after I was saved and I was 43 years old. The "force" is called the Holy Spirit. That is the truth, take it or leave it. But if you want to leave it, then don't comment. God doesn't like harassers either.
DeleteI went to private Baptist school Perry hall Christian academy for 9 years. I was ''saved'' or so I tried. No spirit came to me. I begged, yet for years nothing. So please don't act like I haven't tried your your ''god''
ReplyDeleteDid you repent of your sins?
DeleteEvery last one of them. And nothing. I was 100% devoted for over a decade with nothing in return. You say experiance is proof right? Would mine not also be proof of the ladder?
DeleteI never said experience is proof. I've said just the opposite. Faith is proof.
DeleteYou say you got "Nothing in return"? Maybe your motivations were not as repentant as you thought. Maybe you were preached to under a cheap grace.
A book by "Dietrich Bonhoeffer, called The Cost of Discipleship, published in 1937 defines cheap grace. "In that book, Bonhoeffer defined “cheap grace” as “the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline. Communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ.” Notice what is emphasized in Bonhoeffer’s definition of cheap grace and what is de-emphasized. The emphasis is on the benefits of Christianity without the costs involved; hence, the adjective cheap to describe it."

There really is no need to go on with you. I gave 100% to your God for all the right reasons. I got nothing in return. After 10+ years. That is proof that God is fake or not listening.
ReplyDeleteThere have been strange phenomena witnessed by mankind throughout his existence: ghosts, false gods, demons and now space aliens. If you only ascribe to the existence of one, then you must have an explanation of all the others. They do however, have one source; Satan and all the fallen angels.

Thanks Loretta!
DeleteI liked that they used so many scriptures. I thought the progression thru the 6 minute video was logical. I'm super happy they outright said ghosts were a hoax! Seemed pretty solid. The only thing I disagreed with is the statement that unholy angels are prevented from incarnating. I think the bible is clear that they can. With the exception of those who messed with humanity before the Flood (Genesis 6) and are in deepest dungeons now, the rest can and do appear as ministers of light. (2 Cor 11:14).
We are to be careful when entertaining people because angels are among us unaware- and nothing in the bible says that some of those visiting us couldn't be the bad ones. (Hebrews 13:2). Angels incarnate throughout the bible.
I'm especially happy they dealt with the UFO phenomenon, which as you know I believe are angels deceiving us. Interesting video overall, thanks so much!
This is why I left religion. Illogical and extremely vulnerable to confirmation bias.
