Mississippi drying up. Food riot in St. Louis

Food can become unavailable in many ways. It can be unavailable due to extended drought or heat. (Deuteronomy 28:22; Jeremiah 14:1-3; Haggai 1:11). It can be available but too expensive for most people to acquire. (Rev 6:6). Food can be eaten by locusts, worms, crickets. (Deuteronomy 28:38-29, 42). It can become unavailable due to difficulties of hostile armies surrounding the people and destroying the crops (Deut 28:48-51). Maybe the rivers dried up. "A drought on her waters! They will dry up. For it is a land of idols, idols that will go mad with terror.' (Jer 50:38). There are lots of ways that food is kept from the people. But there is only one reason:

"All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the Lord your God and observe the commands and decrees He gave you." (Deuteronomy 28:45)

That was the curse the LORD gave to His people Israel, and there is no reason to think that the by now grafted-in peoples would not be held to the same account. He is, after all, the LORD our God. He also gave promises to to His people, that if they did follow Him and obey Him, they would be blessed.

Founded on a principle of freedom to worship our God, America has been blessed since the inception of the nation with bounty. However, of late we have failed to keep His commands and follow in His ways. Is it a coincidence that the blessings we have received over several hundred years of following Him have now dried up when we are not following Him? That our nation seems cursed? Personally, I do not think so. I do not think it is a coincidence that the richest nation on earth is slipping quickly down the economic ladder and closing in on Third World territory, that our lands are deformed by fire, drought, heat, insects, fungus, violence and infrastructure collapse, and that many of us are going hungry, is a coincidence that at the same time we have shaken our fist at God in so many ways. No, siree.

The Mississippi is drying up.
"The Mississippi river is drying up and some shipping companies are worried that the drought of 1988 may be repeated, a time when the river dried up so much that barge traffic came to a standstill. In 1988 the shipping industry lost $1 billion, a number that would be far higher in 2012 and could be reached in as little as three days. Almost all of the rivers 2,500 miles are experiencing some type of low water level. Just outside of Memphis the river is 13 feet below normal depth while the National Weather Service says Vicksburg, Mississippi is 20 feet below normal levels. Overall the Mississippi is 13 feet below normal averages for this time of year."

Not only is most of the nation under drought conditions, but where there IS food growing, is seems that it becoming more and more impossible to deliver it to distribution centers via our seaways. I've lived on a boat for two years, traveling up and down the eastern seaboard's Intracoastal Waterway. Our vessel crawled along the entire length of America from Yarmouth Maine to Key West Florida via river, canal, sea, ocean, lake, and river at a speed of three miles per hour. I've seen it. I've followed barges, passed barges, seen cargo ships dock and unload at Norfolk, Chsarleston, Savannah, Baltimore, New York ... I know exactly how many goods are delivered via water and it is a tremendous artery. If the Mississippi is drying and causing goods to be slowed in their delivery or delivered not at all, this is a significant, significant development. The article above continues-

"The drying up river is forcing barge, tugboat and towboat operators to navigate narrower and more shallow spots in the river, slowing their speeds as they pass dangerously close to one another. In some parts of the Mississippi the river is so narrow that one-way traffic is being utilized."

Where there is food, it can't get to the people. Or they are too poor to buy it. People are getting frantic about this. Witness the scenes below-

St. Louis police respond after crowd swarms church for rumored food vouchers
Can we just call this for what it is? American's first food riot since the Great Depression, when in Feb. 1931, this happened:

"Food riots begin to break out in parts of the U.S. In Minneapolis, several hundred men and women smash the windows of a grocery market and make off with fruit, canned goods, bacon, and ham. One of the store's owners pulls out a gun to stop the looters, but is leapt upon and has his arm broken. The "riot" is brought under control by 100 policemen. Seven people are arrested."

In St. Louis today, police were called as streets were overwhelmed with people hoping for even a chance at a food voucher. "Howard Walker, an administrator at St. Louis Powerhouse Church, and also a representative for Advanced Marketing Promotions, LLC, said the hundreds of people gathered for the event at the church, were tempted by the chance at the vouchers. Traffic was snarled in the area of the church, in the 4000 block of West Florissant Avenue for most of the morning, but appeared to be under control by about 11 a.m. "I've been working on the northside for five years, and I've never seen anything like this," said Officer Michael Owens, who was pushing back the crowd along with other officers. Several attendees said they had been waiting in line for their chance at the voucher since last night and as early as 4 a.m. Once the church doors opened, the crowd rushed in."

"They rushed the building so hard, that (organizers) had to shut it down," she said. "Word of mouth got around and it got out of proportion."

America is being choked from all sides and in all ways. Food is becoming the number one issue.

If people are lining up a day ahead at even a rumor of a chance of a food voucher, if people rushed a church so hard they had to call police....and the Holy Spirit is still working in His restraining ministry, what do you think people will do to get actual food when the Spirit releases humans to their base passions?

You don't have to be around to wonder. You can be released from those base passions when Jesus calls for His bride, and resurrects the dead, gathers us together and offers us eternal joy and peace in heaven with Him. Never another hunger pang. Never another policeman. Never another siren. Never a need for an ambulance. Never a worry or fear that the store will be out of the weekly special, and not being able to afford what's left. Never another embarrassing moment when, at the checkout, your card is declined.

Never.

How?

Repent.

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)

  1. I was born and raised in a port city, so I am familiar with the cargo ships coming in with their daily goods, and also exporting many manufactured goods from the local factories, as well as the salt that was produced there.
Having a president that turns his face against Israel, not only condones, but promotes same sex marriage, mocks God, and supports abortion, pushing biirth contol on churches...etc...It wasn't long after Obama publicly declared his/our support of gay marriage when this drought began.
I'm not blaming it all on Obama...He is just the mouthpiece for the majority of society...He wants whatever is popular in our country. Sin is very 'in' as of late.
Sorry I am not backing these statements up with links...I only have dial up internet now :)

    1. I agree with your perceptive statements, Never Forsaken. He is the mouthpiece for the majority of society. Good way to put it. When the people of Israel clamored for a King, even though they already had THE King to govern their nation, the majority of the nation had spoken their sinful desire, God gave them over to the kings, and the nation went downhill, ending in judgment and a 2000 year disapora. Though individual repentance is always possible, as a nation, when the majority persistently chooses sin, judgment follows. I believe we're there now in America.

Sin is in...another piece of evidence we have chosen the way of sin, is when the majority chooses it He gives us over to the wrath of abandonment as in Romans 1, and eventually they are swallowed by sin so deeply their reprobate minds won't even allow them any escape even if they wanted to. The wages of sin is death. Therefore I believe America is dying before our eyes.

  2. It is interesting that the first place to have a riot would be the city the has the occults "gateway". The waters are thirteen feet below normal? Thirteen colonies acting in rebellion against tyrannical rule form the United States in which the occult through freemasonry had a hand, hidden hand in.
More than coincidence I would say.

  3. One of the indicators of the blatant acceptance of sins was provided by the response of most people polled after the Monika Lewinsky affair with then President Bill Clinton.

It was interesting that contributors ot the poll about the issue of character versus office answered by siding with the consensus that determined the worth of a President by what he does and not who he is.

To me more than anything, these responses underline the current mental and moral tenor of a good part of our country. I suspect that what the people were really saying when they acquiesced to the sin of adultery committed by another person is that by minimizing the seriousness of it,or compensating by a job well done as a father, friend, businessman, etc, they were in effect saying that they wouldn´t think much of doing the same and justifying it as long as they were a constructive member of society.

Sounds very much like the Donatist heresy when christians who suffered persecutions during the reign of Domitian were angry when preists and bishops who denied Christ demanded to be reinstated in their function because they differentatied between charater and office.

That distinction has plagued the Catholic church for centuries and we see the fuit of such laxness in the horrid scandals with the perverts pedophile priests.

    1. I agree with you, Jean-Louis, the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal was a watershed moment. I know that other presidents had had adulterous affairs while in office, but the brazenness of the affair; during work, in the Oval Office, the denials ("I did not have sex with that woman..." "Depends on what the meaning is 'is' is...") and the general chortling good ole boy attitude really lowered the moral bar. For me, the worst part was the lying under oath and abusing the legal system to his own advantage. I feel that not only national morals took a nosedive but ethics did too.

DANGEROUS RADICALS OF THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT !
    by Dave MacPherson

[quotes are from Vital Quotations by Emerson West]

ROBERT E. LEE: "In all my perplexities and distresses, the Bible has never failed to give me light and strength." (p. 21)
DANIEL WEBSTER: "If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper." (p. 21)
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS: "I have made it a practice for several years to read the Bible through in the course of every year." (p. 22)
ABRAHAM LINCOLN: "I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Saviour of the world is communicated to us through this book." (p. 22)
GEORGE WASHINGTON: "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." (p. 22)
HORACE GREELEY: "It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a Bible-reading people." (p. 23)
THOMAS JEFFERSON: "I hold the precepts of Jesus as delivered by himself to be the most pure, benevolent, and sublime which have ever been preached to man. I adhere to the principles of the first age; and consider all subsequent innovations as corruptions of this religion, having no foundation in what came from him." (p. 45)
THOMAS JEFFERSON: "Had the doctrines of Jesus been preached always as pure as they came from his lips, the whole civilized world would by now have become Christian." (p. 47)
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN: "As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and his religion, as he left them to us, is the best the world ever saw, or is likely to see." (p.49)
WOODROW WILSON: "The sum of the whole matter is this----that our civilization cannot survive materially unless it be redeemed spiritually. It can only be saved by becoming permeated with the spirit of Christ and being made free and happy by practices which spring out of that spirit." (p. 143)
PATRICK HENRY: "There is a just God who presides over the destiny of nations." (p. 145)
THOMAS JEFFERSON: "Material abundance without character is the surest way to destruction." (p. 225)
THOMAS JEFFERSON: "Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern, which have come under my observation, none appear to me so pure as that of Jesus." (p. 237)
GEORGE WASHINGTON: "The foolish and wicked practice of profane cursing and swearing is a vice so mean and low, that every person of sense and character detests and despises it." (p. 283)
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN: "Here is my creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the universe. That he governs it by his Providence. That he ought to be worshiped." (p. 301)
CALVIN COOLIDGE: "The strength of a country is the strength of its religious convictions." (p. 305)
GEORGE WASHINGTON: "The perpetuity of this nation depends upon the religious education of the young." (p. 306)

Prior to our increasingly "Hell-Bound and Happy" era, America's greatest leaders were part of the (gulp) Religious Right! Today we have forgotten God's threat (to abort America) in Psa. 50:22----"Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver."

    1. Hi ROcky2,

We can take some solace, I suppose, in the fact that we were founded by and led by good and Godly men. Not so the case any more. On John McTernan's site he is two parts into a three part series on what the US military is teaching at war college, as far as the dangers of religious fundamentalism and the various strategies to combat it. There was a seminal paper published by one of the war professors which McTernan posted and is writing his series on. The author of the war paper He ISN'T talking of Muslims as the religious danger to Americans, but the fundamnetalist CHRISTIANS. *We* are the threat, and that is what is being taught. Here is the link to part 1

  5. @ Rocky2,
Most of those men who said those things also held to secret alliances that actually have created a great deception and problem for our time. Take a real good look at what else they were involved with.
The fuel project has a series of videos that explain how "other things" have been able to get attached to "the church" or "God's People".

  6. ...that isn't a "riot"...riots have things on fire, injured and dying everywhere...cops shooting at everyone...also, everyone in th' picture sure look well fed...matter of fact...a little too...'well' fed!

  7. Definition of riot:

A riot is a form of civil disorder characterized often by what is thought of as disorganized groups lashing out in a sudden and intense rash of violence against authority, property or people. While individuals may attempt to lead or control a riot, riots are thought to be typically chaotic and exhibit herd behaviour, and usually generated by civil unrest."

Police were called. Streets were shut. Civilians were threatened.

Sorry there wasn't enough blood for you, Sitting Moose Shaman, to meet your standard of chaos.
