Kay Cude poetry: Joy

Compare and Contrast: lightning bug vs. lightning

A false gospel is a lightning bug

The true Gospel is lightning

The false gospel only brings insect-sized light. Fleeting, not enough to empower, and limited scope.

The true Gospel is the Light, blazing and powerful, able to pierce the darkness even behind closed eyes that do not see. It is from heaven and able to light whole cities...or destroy them.

And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’ (Acts 22:16)

  1. This reminds me of what Mark Twain said about the difference between the right word and the *almost* right word: It's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.

It's the same with the gospel: It's the "let's save the world and have our best politically correct life now while we're doing it" gospel vs the "fall on your face at the foot of the cross and despise your sin that offends an infinitely holy God" gospel.

No prizes for guessing which one is the lightning.
