Guest post from younger sister: The Amazing Exchange

By Elizabeth Prata

I'd mentioned in yesterday's blog post that some of the younger people were seeking answers to the mayhem that is everywhere today. They want to sort out what is happening. Their consciences are tender and their heart moves easily. So I'd compiled a list of theologically solid podcasts so that anyone seeking answers would hopefully be steered to good resources.

Yesterday I was contacted by one of the younger sisters in my church asking for a review of a post she intended to publish. She wanted it looked over to see if it contributed to the discussion, was absent any virtue signaling, and was faithful to scripture. She'd also listened to the recommended Just Thinking podcast. My heart immediately soared. There are still young people who care deeply about being a dew drop of grace in His name, and not a clamoring, shouting secular rioter, and who proceed with caution before speaking.

Then I read her essay. I was again deeply moved by the gentleness, grace, deep understanding of scripture, and yearning to connect on a spiritual level absent of ego. Though we older saints have endured years of seeing pragmatism, prosperity gospel, critical race theory, social justice attitudes and more infiltrate the church, through those weeds the Lord continually grows beautiful flowers. The next generation is coming up just fine.

I asked for permission to post it because I knew it would encourage you. The Lord will not leave the world without a generation speaking His name in love. Though the secular news media wants to bombard us with visions of young people rioting, shouting into megaphones; and Christian media bombards us with scenes of young people drifting into social justice warfare and away from the rock, He will and has raised up a generation who still speaks His name in truth. Here is one example. I titled it:

THE AMAZING EXCHANGE
By Kalie

Every painful injustice we have witnessed over the past several weeks are symptoms of an even deeper and darker injustice - that we as humans, created by God to worship him and bear his image, exchange the worship of God for the worship of ourselves and other created things as described in Romans 1:23-25. Galatians 5 tells us that this rebellion of the heart - sin, shows itself  sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 continues this list with lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.

These are all works of the flesh; completely opposed to the character of God revealed in his word and his world. As a righteous judge, God judges sin, pouring his wrath out on every injustice. Amazingly, he is both just and justifier.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that  he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." - Romans 3:23-26

God transfers His wrath from us to Jesus and transfers the righteous standing of Jesus to us! We simply trust him for this amazing exchange. We are given a new heart and he begins a good work in that is complete when we are finally with him forever, the good work of making our heart more and more obedient to Christ and our character more and more like his (Philippians 1:6).

For those of us who have trusted Christ, let us pray for him to search us and show us any grievous way in us and lead us in the way everlasting. Let us pray for Him to save those are deathly sick with the eternal disease of sin.

For those who have not, consider His call to forgiveness of sin, and new heart and eternal life. Symptoms abound, but there is a cure for the sickness.
