Are you a hollow bunny?

2 Timothy 3: 1-2,5 "Difficult Times Will Come"
"1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be ... 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these."

As a kid on Easter morning in a secular household, it was all about the basket. The eggs, the chocolate, and toys. Even the fake green grass. Our baskets were always generously filled, and I especially loved the centerpiece of a large chocolate bunny on the mound of grass.

As a kid, if you see a 5 inch chocolate bunny you get very excited. You don't think about how much to eat or not eat, you don't think about the appropriate time of the day to eat it. You just rip the cellophane and chomp.

I remember being disappointed and a little irked that the bunny was hollow. As a kid, I could not tell the difference between a solid bunny and a hollow one, they looked the same to my immature eyes. But when I bit into the ear it seemed to me to be a total gyp when it crumbled to bits because it had no interior support. The bunny had only a form of solidity.

We are told over and over in the bible that the last days would be filled with deception, false pastors and false prophets, wolves in sheep's clothing, antichrists, false apostles, false doctrine ... and are repeatedly warned not to fall for it.

How can we tell if a bunny is solid chocolate or hollow? Test by eating it, you say? Satan is poison, his deceptions are poison. Who wants to eat poison? Ingesting falsity for too long will inevitably pollute. As mature Christians, we must be able to discern and detect hollow Christianity early on, before it permeates the entire congregation, or our own heart.

Are you a child in Christ, seemingly mature but having fallen out of the habit of testing the scriptures for yourselves? Have you lost the ability to test the spirits? Are you, yourself hollow? Professing a form of godliness but denying its power?

Ephesians 4:14 tells us not to be babes. "Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming." Pray for experience, wisdom, and discernment through a healthy relationship with the Holy Spirit.

As deceptions and delusions grow in the end times, we are not going to be able to tell the difference between true Biblical doctrine and that of hollow and counterfeit Christianity by being a child, rushing toward something that looks oh so good to eat but biting into the hollowness to be disappointed, but perhaps already hooked by its tastiness. Do not be a baby in discernment! Do not be hollow!

"But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil." Hebrews 5:14

How much will we remember in heaven?

Do you ever wonder how much, if anything, you will remember in heaven after the rapture or after resurrection through death? I do. I have unsaved family members and unsaved friends. If I am happy worshiping Him in glory, will I also not cry in despair because of the knowledge of eternal torment of my loved ones?

Yet Isaiah 65:17 tells us, “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” I would hate to forget His glorious creation and His many miracles and works!

Gotquestions.org deals with the issue by saying that "some interpret Isaiah 65:17 as saying that we will have no memory of our earthly lives when we are in heaven. However, one verse earlier in Isaiah 65:16, the Bible says, “For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.” It is likely only our “past troubles” that will be forgotten – not all of our memories. Our memories will be cleansed, redeemed, healed, and restored – not erased."

Does that mean God will erase the memory and knowledge of sin from our minds? Will the memories that will be cleansed will be the ones that involve only sin, pain, and sadness? Revelation 21:4 declares, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Further, the book of Revelation says that in heaven we will sing the song of the Lamb and of Moses (Revelation 15:3), which is a song about past history. So if we are going to sing about the great works of God in history we will be having memories of them. It appears we will not forget everything.

I do not know for sure. But one thing I DO know: God is perfect and He is righteous, always doing the right thing. I believe it highly likely we will forget and remember things in accord with what will maximize our enjoyment of God. If remembering something enhances our worship of Him, He will allow us to remember it. If it would hinder our worship of Him, He will allow us to forget it.

What do you think?

Israel strikes Sudan, a Gog-Magog nation

In Ezekiel 38:1-6, the Hebrew prophet gives a list of ancient names that will form a united alliance that will attempt to come against Israel.

“Rosh, Meshech and Tubal” - Many Bible scholars believe “Rosh” refers directly to Russia. "Gog” is described as being “of the land of Magog” and as the “prince of Rosh. Most Bible scholars believe Gog is not a name but a title, like Pharaoh or Czar. He is a dictator who will hatch an “evil plan” (Ezekiel 38:10).
“Magog” - Leading Bible scholars say this is Russia and republics of the former Soviet Union.
“Persia” - This was the official name of Iran until 1935.
“Cush” - Bible scholars today believe “Cush” refers to Sudan and Ethiopia.
“Put” - Bible scholars are confident that this refers to the modern day country of Libya, though it may also refer to parts of Algeria and Tunisia.

and others including Turkey and Armenia. Here is another source for further reading about the Ezekiel war in ch 37-38.

Now we see ABC exclusively reporting that Israel has been striking Sudan. Sudan? you may say. Why would Israel care about Sudan? Well, in light of the future alliance of the Gog-Magog coalition, you know that Sudan figures prominently in an alliance of nations that attack Israel. Those nations are ever more closely helping each other install a noose around Israel's neck. Can you see the puzzle pieces coming together?

Exclusive: Three Israeli Airstrikes Against Sudan

Israel has conducted three military strikes against targets in Sudan since January in an effort to prevent what were believed to be Iranian [Persian] weapons shipments from reaching Hamas in the Gaza Strip, ABC News has learned.
----------------------------------------

Remember Muammar Gaddafi, the crazy Libyan ("Put") leader that Reagan was always railing against? It seems that Colonel Gaddafi has rehabilitated his reputation to the extent that he is now the President of the African Union! He leads a united coalition of African nations (including those in the Gog-Magog alliance!).

Gaddafi is pushing for a global currency and a more united front in Africa, called the United States of Africa, each nation's sovereignty subsumed under the union like the states of America. It is by no means certain that Gaddafi's push for a United Nations of Africa will succeed, it is still a miracle that the AU even exists, and that Gaddafi is the President of it, but maybe it will succeed to the extent that Sudan, Libya, and Ethiopia, perhaps Algiers and Tunisia form an alliance along with Iran and Russia. Impossible you say? And we are back to Ezekiel 37-38 coalition...

Gaddafi pushes for union after election to head AU

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was elected chairman of the African Union on Monday and made clear he would pursue his vision of a United States of Africa despite reluctance from many members. Resplendent in golden robes and cap and hailed as "king of kings" by traditional African leaders who accompanied him, Gaddafi accepted a gavel from the outgoing chairman, Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, at a summit in Ethiopia.

New World Order

This is an increasingly flung phrase these days but how it fits with prophecy is in Revelation 13, the one world currency, one world government and the one world religion. When we hear 'new world order' it means a geo-political shift form 192 sovereign nations, to either a one world government or a series of clusters of unions, as described in Daniel 7:24 (the ten kings).

In the last two weeks the African Union led by Gaddafi called for a global currency, & so did China, Russia, and the UN. The EU President (who is the premier of Czechoslovakia) said that following the US economic policies is a 'way to hell' even as his own government fell. Kuwait also fell. Treasury Secretary Geithner at first said no to the dropping of the dollar as a global reserve currency, then the next day did an about face, sending world markets on a wild ride.

If a global currency is set up then Revelation 13, where each person has a mark or a number without which 'no man' may buy nor sell, would be fulfilled. "No man" means everyone, all over the globe, and if there is one mark used globally, that means a universal currency.

Our wild ride into Revelation's description of the world at the end of days is continuing apace.

Are you ignorant? Don't be!

A hat tip to Pastor Steve Hadley in his sermon "A quick tour of hell" in which he raised the following point. I pondered it greatly and felt compelled to write about it.

In at least three places in the New Testament Paul warned the new Christians not to be ignorant of certain things: spiritual warfare, Rapture/end times prophecy, and spiritual gifts. And as Pr. Hadley said, what are the three things Christians today most ignorant about? These very three things.

1 Corinthians 12:1
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Rapture/End times prophecies
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Corinthians 2:11 Spiritual Warfare
lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

To be ignorant of these things is to leave ourselves vulnerable to Satan. Vulnerable Christians are like a beacon to satan and his demons, our antennae veritably up and like a homing device, calling for him to come and tempt us. Does a soldier go into battle blindfolded? Do we drive a car with our eyes shut? Do we eat unfamiliar foods that might be poisonous? No. And in like kind, we should not be ignorant of the weapons in our arsenal, weapons given to us by God. To know about the rapture is to have blessed hope, to know your spiritual gifts is to be used of the Holy Spirit to accomplish His goals, and to engage in spiritual warfare is to strike a blow against the powers and principalities of the air.

Ignorance is not bliss. Full knowledge of the bible is God's character and personality revealed. Why be ignorant of glory, love, and hope? No need! Brothers and sisters, immerse yourselves in God's Word today and every day. Be not ignorant!

Peace and Safety!

At time 4:45 Obama says "To those who seek peace and security, we support you"

1 Thessalonians 5:3

"The day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. For while they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape."

A comment from someone on the Rapture Ready thread 'Peace and Safety':

"I was reading our MacArthur study Bible tonight, and ran into something that I found thought-provoking."

"I Thess. 5:2,3 ...the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them..."

"MacArthur interprets this as: "Just as false prophets of old fraudulently forecast a bright future, in spite of the imminence of God's judgment (Jer.6:14, 8:11,14:13-14; Lam.2:14; Ezek. 13:10,16; Mic. 3:5) so they will again in future days just before the final Day of the Lord destruction."

"We assume that at the end of the trib. nobody will be saying "peace and safety" just before Jesus' return - it will be a horrible time. So this would seem to apply to the rapture. I know many on this board have discussed that the rapture won't occur until people feel we're in a time of "peace and safety". MacArthur is saying that this is a time when false teachers are just saying it's a time of peace and safety."

Understanding end time prophecy is more important than ever!

If you are interested in how this narrator goes through the scriptures to show that Obama is a witch, seducer and spiritist (when he says "Let us summon a new spirit" it doesn't help the case...), part one to this 10 minute video explanation is here. The man narrating is low-key, even slow, but please stick with it, the evidence is compelling when he breaks down the language slowly and logically and balances it against the scriptures. I found it illuminating!

Scoffers and mockers

As a Christian, I get mocked a lot. Scoffers and mockers say, "The bible is a made-up fable written by men..." Or "Where is your God now? He hasn't come yet and He never will!", or simply, "You're deluded."

In our culture today, books pronounce God as dead and Christianity as useless, movies, television, people, theatre, all mock the truth.

People are increasingly resistant to the Gospel message of Hope and Salvation. They seem OK with Wicca, Islam, and Mormonism, but not Christianity. However, their very mocking words are a validation of the times. It is written:

"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of His coming?" II Peter 3:3-4.

Christians, do not lose heart when you are mocked! Take it a a strong sign that He is in control, knowing the end from the beginning. That you are part of the family of mocked or even the persecuted, and because that is so, that you are on the right path. We know that the path leads toward persecution, ill times around the world for Christians, but after that...glory! Will you stand strong? Never give up in offering the gospel message? Decide...prepare...and go out in His name.

It is also written, that the more they mock the stronger their fetters become: "And now do not carry on as scoffers, Or your fetters will be made stronger; For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts Of decisive destruction on all the earth." Isaiah 28:22. We need not be personally hurt at mocking, their punishment is devastating...and eternal. Love, be at peace, and offer His seeds in a spirit of compassion, even in the face of mockery.

The gulf widens

There are two scriptures regarding the end times which are polar opposites of each other. How can this be?

1. Luke 17:26-27: Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

The bible says that in the end, things will SEEM normal, and LOOK normal and people will be doing normal things, unaware of the doom about to overtake them.

Yet their blindness need not be so. Jesus gave a long discourse on the realities of what will occur, and He even told us what to look for.

As He sat on The Mount Of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the close of the age?" And Jesus answered them, "Take heed that no one leads you astray. For many will come in My Name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places: all this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs." (Matthew 24:3-8)

The schism between what some see clearly see and others see not at all is growing. The divide is widening: between believer and unbeliever, between those who see and those who don't, between those who fast and those who are eating and drinking, between those looking up and those looking down, between poor and rich, and of course, between good and evil. It is a result of God's lifting His hand of protection and increasingly leaving the sinful world to satan. In the very end, satan will have complete power over everyone and everything on the earth. (Rev 13)

Until His hand is completely lifted, though, the divide grows. There will come a time when those on the one side will not be able to reach those on the other. Which side are you on? There is time to call upon Jesus to save you from your sins and offer grace and forgiveness. At a certain time, that offer will expire...forever. Revelation 14:9-10. Don't wait!

Tracking loved ones is de rigueur?

Military Supplier Develops 'Nano Sized' GPS Tracking Device,
Called "The Next Best Thing To An Implanted GPS Tracker"
[Might as well call it to 'The Next BEAST Thing...']

(Vocus) March 18, 2009 -- Demand for tiny GPS Trackers has spread from police and military investigators to soccer moms wanting to keep an eye on family members. Lightning GPS, the primary supplier of covert GPS Tracking to military and law enforcement is moving aggressively to meet this demand.

Lightning GPS announced today that it would release the tiny "Spark Nano" GPS Tracker to the general public. [But] Sometimes tiny just isn't small enough.

"Everyday we field desperate calls from parents who are begging us for implantable GPS Trackers that they can use to track their family members," says Jason Lazarus, VP of Research and Development for Lightning GPS. "There is a very real demand for this technology that is just not yet available to the public."

This is the first "consumer friendly" military grade GPS Tracking system available to the public. Its versatile design and user friendly interface makes it perfect for tracking employees, vehicles, or family members.
--------------------------------------------------------
Oh, boy. Stealth tracking. What does the bible say about intrusive technology in the end of days?

“He [Antichrist] causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16-17

DON'T TAKE THE MARK!! Why not?

“If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.” Revelation 14:9,10

The best thing to so is recognize your sins are a crime against God to ask His forgiveness through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Then you follow as your first act of obedience your baptism and then serve Him with all your mind and heart and soul and strength. The best part is, you get to know Him right away rather than taking a risk of never knowing Him!!

Misplaced Faith

A secular economist I read, wrote this week; “I can’t tell you the exact moment I lost faith in the system, but I decided to equip myself with the tools necessary to survive whatever politics and history throw at me next.”

That sounds exactly like something King Ahaz could have said 1300 years ago, when times got tough and Ahaz turned from God and initiated an alliance with Assyria instead. Ahaz insisted on maintaining his faith in political alliances instead of standing firm in God’s revealed truth to him through prophet Isaiah. (2 Kings 16:7-8, Isaiah 7:3).

The economist uses the word “faith” so casually. He has faith, but it is misplaced. He looks for something to put his faith in. For him, it is “the system.” For Ahaz, it was other nations. Misplaced faith always has devastating consequences.

What is behind misplaced faith? Fear. The economist guy is fearful of the things coming on the earth. So he has decided to rely upon his own self and sell survival kits, switching his misplaced faith from ‘the system’ to kits.

Fear is a powerful emotion. It blinds us. It shifts our focus. It chips away at our faith. It stops us from acting on God’s revealed truth. It paralyzed Ahaz. Even when God Himself offered to give Ahaz a sign, Ahaz still refused!

We all fear. Acting on God’s revealed truth is scary. Even soldiers who win bravery medals from terrible battles are fearful of action. Winston Churchill said, “Why, you take the most gallant sailor, the most intrepid airman, the most audacious soldier, put them together at a table, and what do you get? The sum of their fears.” Yet they act.

We Christians are soldiers. We go into battle every day with unseen forces. When we act on God’s revealed truth we strike a devastating blow to the enemy. If we were to take the most gallant teacher, the most intrepid missionary, the most audacious preacher, and put them together at a table, what would we get? The sum of their fears.

Ahaz was paralyzed by his fears to the point of (mis)placing faith in his wrong action, with devastating consequences. Faith is not in ‘the system’, faith is not in survival kits, faith is not in political alliances. Whether times are good or bad, God still reveals truth to us and urges us to act. Admittedly, in today’s times of distress, it is harder to act, to step out in faith. We can have a healthy respect for our fears, but I call upon my brothers and sisters to look through them to the one true God. He is the One whom we can and must properly place our faith. Isaiah said to Ahaz, “If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all.” (Is 7:9b). When the Lord returns, let Him find us standing.

"Into Dust" Mazzy Star, the economy and US in bible prophecy

Fromworldindistress.com

From Joel C. Rosenberg:

From January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008, Americans lost $6.9 trillion in wealth in the stock markets.

Just since Barack Obama was elected, Americans have lost some $3 trillion in wealth, reports Investors’ Business Daily, as the markets have plummeted some 30%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, for example, has collapsed from 9,625.28 on November 4, 2008 to 6,647.49 on March 4, 2009.

Firesale prices are in effect — Citibank stocks are under $1 and General Motors shares are selling for less than $2 — as investors see major American financial and manufacturing behemoths on the brink of bankruptcy.

Zoom out a bit, and we see the situation even more dire. Since the market’s highs in October 2007, the DJIA is down some 50%. That means over the last 18 months, we have seen half the nation’s wealth vanish into thin air.

In the midst of all this, millions of Americans have lost their jobs (latest headline: Jobless rate jumps to 8.1 percent in Feb., highest since late 1983; employers cut 651,000 jobs) . Small businesses are dying. Big businesses are dying. Credit is tight. Confidence is low. And people are anxious.

Last weekend, I met with some evangelical Christian business leaders in Naples, Florida. They asked me what I thought the future held. I did not offer advice on how to win on Wall Street. But I did share with them a few thoughts from the Scriptures.

In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus said: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; for where your treasure is, there is your heart also.”

I asked the men, “More tough times may be ahead. If some of you have lost 30% to 50% of your assets, what are your plans going forward? What if another 30% to 50% of your wealth vanishes, or is confiscated in a massive new tax increase? Would it not be better to invest some or all of that wealth in the kingdom of God now, where it is safe and secure, while you still have it?”

The Lord is shaking our country and purifying His Church. He is requiring all of us to reconsider what we value, where our treasure is, where our hearts are. He is preparing us to see Him face to face. And when we see Him, there will be a day of accounting. He will ask us what we did with the resources He entrusted to us. What, then, shall we say?
